Hours later they sat together around an camp fire talking. The figure had just finished telling his story and Naruto was trying to process it.
"So your saying" he finally started "that after the death of your mate you went to an youki witch who told you that you both would be reincarnated every few generations. You alone would be born every time with all memories intact on birth. You have to spend each life looking for your mate, but you would never again be what you once were unless HE remembered you ON HIS OWN. She said 'his memories must be regained by his self, NO influence or even hint from you."
The figure nodded.
"That a few hundred years ago you somehow KNEW he would be reborn here, so you charged Kumara with waiting for him and guarding his life until you could return to him. When you felt Kumara's attack you immediately started back, but because you were so far away, it took you years. You have spent the last few generations restoring your fathers kingdom outside the Elemental Nations and when you heard about him being killed you knew it was a lie. So you hung around outside in your kingdom until you learned the truth from the Fire Lord, how he had been imprisoned inside me instead. You were just coming back here when you felt the surge when he was separated from me. Now you're here to reclaim your mate."
Again the man nodded "this generation feels...

different. He is closer to his previous life than any other. The witch said if I was to tell my mate who I was in anyway and force him to relive the memories I would loose him forever and be left in all time, constantly alone, reincarnating again and again without him or any peace. The figure froze, perfectly still as he said "what did you just say?"
"He knows who he is and once was" at the figures obvious growing anger, he cocked his head at him "why are you mad?"
"The witch said...."
The witch said that YOU couldn't tell him in any way, you did not. When you charged Kumara with his protection, did you tell him to tell him who and what he was? Did you tell him to make sure he makes him remember, or that you would be returning to claim him? Anything along those lines, ANYTHING to make him think you wanted him to tell him?"
"No..." he started.
"No" Narruto agreed "you did not. Not an wink, not an hint, not an suggestion. He did it all on his own idea with no thought of having him know so when you returned you could claim him. It's been hundreds of years since he saw you, he has no idea WHEN you're returning, let alone IF. He doesn't even know if it's in THIS generation or fifty years from now. He might tell this reincarnation everything, only for you to return and claim the one another hundred years from now. Which he will never remember."
The other knew he had a point and calmed.
"Come with me to Kohona" Naruto said "come with me to your mate." When the other looked at him he continued "only myself, Kumara and Tsunade-baachan will know who you really are, to everyone else you're either an visiting Kage from somewhere outside the Elemental nations, or one of the last of the old-breed type Inuzuka's. You could live with them, get to know the current version of your mate and make it up to him all you did to him in your first lives." He locked eyes with him "win his friendship first, then slowly work from there. Romance him like he DESERVES to be romanced. Prove to him you're his mate and should be in EVERY way. And you can protect him, watch over him. This way even if he doesn't remember in this generation, you would have still had him in this life. Isn't that better than nothing? You can give him the life he SHOULD have had with you the first time."
After a thoughtful pause the figure nodded "I will come, but I must return soon to our fathers restored land." Naruto nodded.

An hour or so later they were moving swiftly towards Hidden Leaf, Naruto telling him EVERYTHING that had happened and everything they knew about the hidden enemy. He then described his mate to him and his personality and beliefs, all he wanted to know about.
Not far out Naruto slowed down and signaled his companion to do so as well. Together the two moved out towards the road from the gates and soon encountered a small group just leaving, an red-head male, blonde and pink-haired women, pale black-haired male, silver, male in an heavy coat and another in an strange black get-up.
Naruto grinned and headed for them, yelling out "hi guys!"
All eyes turned towards him and relaxed when they saw him, although the fact a strange male with an huge white dog that looked more like a wolf was following him put them on edge. However the fact the figure stopped and watched from the tree-line made them more comfortable.
"Where are you guys going?" Naruto asked as he moved to their side, noticing that his team and Shino was frowning at the man behind him "he's friendly guys, I know him and he saved my life."
Kakashi frowned at his student. Knowing how powerful he was now some....Inuzuka saved him?
Naruto looked at Gaara and his siblings "the Akatsuki are no more, he killed them all" ignoring the shocked gasps he went on "however one wasn't there, Tobi escaped."
"Tobi? That idiot?"
Naruto shook his head "he wasn't an idiot, that was all an act. He was the mastermind behind the entire thing. HE was the one to warp them and set them on their path, HE set Kyuubi on the village that night, HE was the reason the Uchiha clan was going to betray the village and their clan leader did what he did to his daughters, HE was the reason Itachi joined the group." He looked at Sakura "Sasuke is alive" when the pink-haired girl sighed in relief, Naruto looked at his sensei, eyes telling him he had important information he needed to tell him later. The silverette nodded.
Kakashi spoke out "we were just escorting the Kazekage and his siblings back to Suna."
"You are the kage of The Land Hidden In The Sands?" the figure behind Naruto suddenly spoke out "the former vessel of the one tailed?"
The group tensed and Gaara nodded. They waited to see what would happen. The figure started to glide forward, dog by his side "I am Chishifûryoku Daiyouki. I contacted you three months ago."
The group looked shocked "YOU'RE Chishifûryoku Daiyouki, kage of The Land of the New Moon!"
Gaara looked at the man critically "why are you here? How does Naruto know you?"
Naruto blinked, obviously he thought the other had saved his life and was 'cozening up' to him in order to get to Gaara through him. While that was undoubtedly an possibility, and could have been an possible motive to kill the Akatsuki, his motive was purely for his mate and always was. After all, how many people outside Sand and Leaf knew Gaara and Naruto were actually good friends. As far as everyone else know, Naruto was merely the one to stop him during the invasion attempt. The alliance between Sand and Leaf was an mutually beneficial one, mostly about business. Leaf shared missions and other types of business with them, and Sand shared things only THEY could access, such as heat-resistant armorclothing and the like.
If he was seeking an alliance with Sand, it would not only benefit Gaara's people, but would be purely for their sake. He could understand why. Considering what he used to be, making an alliance with any of the villages containing demon vessels-or used to in Gaara's case-would be his desire to protect the last fragments of the past. Including Kumara.
"Hey" Kankurõ just realized "why is the Kage of another land so far away seeking alliances HERE HIMSELF instead of sending an courier or representative?"
"Obviously Chishifûryoku-san is an warrior entirely capable of protecting and defending himself" Kakashi said "if he defeated all the Akatsuki himself without a scratch, do you really think someone like an thug or assassin could take him down?"
"Yeah Kankurõ" Temari said "look at how hard it was to get Gaara back from them, and they were just the two weakest of those guys. After killing THE ENTIRE GROUP, do you think some idiot thug or assassin is going to be a challenge to him?"

Naruto nodded this time. "And how he died of some sickness" Naruto saw the other wince in painful memory from where he stood in the shadows when Sakura mentioned it.
"Try to remember what he said about youki mating-how exactly they bond."
Kakashi spoke this "he said when some of them mate, they do a special ceremony that links their souls and minds. That they become a part of each other."
"Exactly. But what he DIDN'T tell you was in some rare cases if the youki are strong enough or the feelings are strong enough, there is ANOTHER effect as well."

Gaara frowned "how do you know this is true? He could be using it as an excuse to get to you or I, or get into Hidden Leaf?"
Naruto looked at him "how many people know about Kumara's origin?" he pointed out "how many people outside that group that night know about the man who raised him, let alone about youki mating? Hell, how many know the difference between an demon or youki?"
They knew he was right. The only ones who would know would be ones who had actually been there or experienced it, or had been there that night. "He spent the last few generations fighting to get back the land of their father, now he succeeded he's here to claim his mate again. He knows he can't just take him and leave, so he's gonna talk to baachan to see about making him an perminate emissary. But not until he's ready to go first."

"Even if he isn't restored to his former self, the others are the last remnants of who he once was, the last remains of who and what he was. Don't you think he'd want to preserve that? Gaara spoke "I must return to Suna, however since you are remaining here for some time, when I return I shall reexamine the letters you sent. I will contact you through the Hokage with my decision."
The man nodded and Naruto took the hint, fading the shield so-after some goodbyes-the red head, his siblings, Shino, and the rest of his team could leave.
"Let's go" Naruto looked at the other once they were gone and the two figures and one animal moved off again.
They reached the gates in good time to hear a call to them from the gate-guards. Naruto stopped and looked up-and grinned. Well talk about coincidences, just the guy they were talking about.
Up on the gate post, waving at them, was none other than a certain dog boy and blonde female. Ino waved excitedly "hey Naru! Did ya find him?!"
"Yeah Ino, he's alive, they both are."
"Good" she sighed. Even though she had long gotten over her crush-especially with the knowledge of the truth and who and more importantly WHAT the youngest Uchiha was-she still cared. It was suspected among the Rookie 11 that the jutsu that had done what it had had also picked out certain girls his age to implant the fangirl obsession on, explaining why it was so powerful and had lasted even past Sasuke defecting. However knowledge of the truth had somehow broke that portion over them. It also explained why Sasuke had had no interest in them whatsoever, they weren't.....his type. His almost sacrificing his life for Naruto during the battle with Haku and Zabuza, his obsessive rivalry signs of his true feelings, even if he didn't know it.
The other on the gate was eyeing them, or rather the man with him, his face stubborn and hostile. Next to him Naruto sensed his companion shudder visibly and when he looked at him his face was blank, however Naruto had experience in reading the hidden emotions of others-moreover he was emphatic-a gift from Kumara's possession. It was how he had been able to tell the difference between those truly evil and those not, how he had known how to bring out the good in others and NOW he could sense the anticipation, fear and excitement in the other.
Before Kiba could even finish opening his mouth there came an excited barking and an white blur leapt from it's place by his side and landed awkwardly on the ground in front of them. After righting itself it ran towards the man and his canine companion, barking excitedly, ears, head and tail up-the latter wagging furiously.

The sitting dog barked again, as if in affirmative, tail thumping the ground.
The figure looked up from his kneeling position as an growl filled the air, and furious dog boy jumping from the post and landing beside his own companion on the ground, crouched and ready to fight, an snarl coming from him as he spoke "who are you and why does Akamaru like you?! How DARE you touch him! Why are you so familiar?! I know you from somewhere, but I have never seen you before!!"
The man stood slowly, companion by his side, letting Akamaru move to his master's side, nudging him and whining his tense master. He seemed confused by his master's reaction.
"Answer me!" Kiba Inuzuka snapped.
"You don't remember me" the figure said, voice even but soft and Naruto wasn't the only one who felt a twinge of hurt from him.
Sensing this the Inuzuka heir relaxed his stance a little, stunned by the emotion in it and the fact that if this figure knew Naruto, knew Akamaru, he must not be a threat, yet the fact Akamaru knew this figure AND his companion and the figure was upset by his being unable to remember him....
Naruto spoke out "how DO you know Akamaru-and Kiba?"
The figure looked at the blonde "we met about thirteen years ago, here, in the forest surrounding the village and I know them because I was the one to give him Akamaru."
"Bullshit!" Kiba went back on full guard "my mother gave him too me!"
"No, she didn't, you obviously don't remember."
"Don't remember what!" he snapped.
"How your mother WAS going to give you an companion, but you didn't like it because you wanted to play, but the pup wouldn't. It kept telling you you were alpha and alpha's train, NOT play. It wouldn't do what you wanted so you told your mother who told you it was right. You got angry and upset and ran away from home to hide in these woods, refusing to go back. That's were WE found you."
"We?" Ino asked.
The figure motioned at himself, his companion and Akamaru himself "Maru's mate had just recently had a litter of pups and we were journeying to an nearby safe-house nearby I own in order to allow the female to rest and recover. Naruto hesitated thoughtfully "you're right, I shouldn't have assumed."
The figure looked back at Kiba "when you told me you couldn't take him sadly, that you had to take the one your mother chose for you-that Akamaru may be your friend but you needed an Ninken-I told you about his lineage and that Maru was his sire."
Ino blinked and looked at the huge white wolf-like animal "is that why Akamaru got so excited? Because he knew it was his father and he wanted to see him."
"Yes. I convinced him that not only would Aka be his play-pal and friend but his ninken and companion as an ninja. The last I saw of them, they were returning home."
Naruto meanwhile was looking thoughtful "when was this?"
"I was five and just starting the academy when I got Akamaru, but it WASN'T from him!" Before the man could protest something struck Naruto and his eyes widened "the jutsu!"
Everyone looked at him, Kiba frowning "what do you mean?" while the man froze and he could sense barely restrained fury in him "what jutsu?" Naruto could just see in his body the 'if someone has cast an jutsu on MY MATE to make him forget me......'"
Naruto hurriedly explained about the jutsu cast to wipe away ALL traces of Mikomi Uchiha and looked at Kiba "don't you get it, if you knew Mikomi, your memories would have been changed! Its possible the memories of how you got Akamaru were changed because of it, but because Akamaru never met her, he retained his true ones."
"How would my knowing her have changed how I got Akamaru?"
Ino had her own theory for this "if you both were friends as kids a lot of your memories would be different" she said "if you told her all about Akamaru and how you got him and what happened that day, it would have to change all that. Probably after taking out the bit about you getting Akamaru and you telling her about it, your mind just used the memory of the other ninken your mother was going to give you to fill the gap."

Naruto nodded "they probably fought a lot as children but because of their similar personalities they became close friends at some point. Mikomi was fiercely protective and possessive of her twin too who was very timid, shy, and submissive" he looked at Ino fully "remind you of someone?"
The other blonde's eyes widened "Hinata, I see."
"See what?" Kiba frowned.
"If you hung around Mikomi any amount of time, you would have also have been around Yuri. If she was so obsessed with her twins safety and health, that would have spoken to the alpha in you, causing you to be just as fiercely protective of her as well. When the jutsu wiped the memories of the twins from you, those protective urges were still there. They had to go SOMEWHERE and with Hinata's personality the same as Yuri....."
"Your feelings shifted to her instead" Ino finished "however since you had no memories to explain WHY you should feel that way..."
"You convinced yourself without knowing it that you loved-or at least had a crush on her" Naruto completed. It made sense. Kiba was Lethalwind's mate, born and bred for him, it hadn't made sense for him to have strong feelings for Hinata.
"It makes sense. If you REALLY had those sort of feelings for Hinata, you would have been jealous of her obsession and feelings for me, yet you never were. Sure you were annoyed with her for it and sometimes you would get upset over it interfering with her being an ninja and your team member, but you were never jealous like you should have been. It was because instead of being in love or crushing on her, you were merely protective of her. Think about it, look at your actions and feelings of the past." Ino spoke "who IS he?"

Naruto spoke the dog-boy "he'll have to stay a while to fully work this out, so if you want to get to know him...."
"Whatever" Kiba snorted, motioning to Akamaru to join him back at their spot at the gate. Naruto motioned the figure to follow him.
As the figure stepped from the shade of the trees his entire form became visible in the bright sunlight, revealing him to the two guards, the blonde hearing two sets of breathe caught in throats in awe, smiling to himself as the others fury dissipated in pride at the knowledge his mate found his appearance pleasing.
He was tall but well-built, enough muscle not to be too much but enough to show the warrior he was. His face was that of an classically beautiful man with violet eyes and pale skin. His cheeks bore similar marks to Kiba’s, except they were an slightly darker shade of violet than his eyes and the ‘fang’ marks were thinner and curved slightly at the bottom, kind of like snake fangs. His teeth and hands were like Kiba’s were and his black hair was cut short in an unusual style. the hair was short in back but in front he had part of it over his face, hanging down past his eyes and to brush the base of his left cheek. It covered that eyes and stopped at the nose, hiding the forehead, but the ends of the hair went up in an wave from his cheek beside the nose upwards until it reached his ear, just touching the fold near the canal.
He wore an short kimono of black with pants, the hem of the outfit only reaching mid-thigh, edged with an deep red that almost resembled blood. The outfit was tight, almost skin-tight. On the back was an stitched design of an moon, an new moon, clouds surrounding it.
On his hip he wore two sheathed swords, one on top an katana bearing an silver kashira (pommel) and tsuba (guard) while the fuchi (guard) was black. However the wakizashi on the other hand was the opposite, an black kashira and tsuba with an silver mekugi (grip).
As they walked past the two through the gates and into the village, Naruto smiled to himself. Kiba found his mates appearance pleasing, there was hope for them both yet.

“He WHAT!!” Tsunade yelled later as Naruto finished explaining everything that had happened and what he had learnt from Itachi and Sasuke. He nodded “that’s what it seems to be. The Akatsuki were being controlled by one who was being manipulated by another. According to Itachi he wants revenge on Hidden Leaf for what he sees as an betrayal.” he then told her what had happened at the hideout and the others appearance, then about who and WHAT he was.
Tsunade sat back down and smirked “so, the dog-boy has an mate who has come for him.” She ignored the others growl, but the hidden ANBU in the room tensed in reaction. Tsunade just motioned them to relax and Naruto explained what had happened at the gate and what they had figured out about Kiba’s memories and the truth of them. Tsunade rose and began to pace in tight lines “this is serious. If someone like Kiba Inuzuka’s memories have been so falsely affected, what else has been changed that will cause such an negative effect? If Kiba has forgotten something so important then what else is changed? This could mean changes that may negatively impact the entire village.”
Naruto spoke “baachan I suggest that you ask Tsume-chan to allow him to stay at the Inuzuka clan grounds. Tell her that he’s an descendant of the original clan BEFORE they were betrayed and left their land.
