A/N: This chapter is all plot. It’s a little break in the angst, too. It’s not happy or anything, but it’s a breather chapter. Next chapter gets the badness again.

Jess249: I like Itachi, too. My muse just wants him to hurt, I guess. She’s evil. If Sasuke didn’t love Naruto the way he loves him, he’d probably be dead all ready. That love is the only reason he’s coming up with this plan.
The two Uchihas were huddled in the corner of the coffee store. They were certain that the Akatsuki base was near this spot. At the very least Pein and Sasori had been spotted here. They were glancing around the shop, acting slightly suspicious, but not enough to draw attention in LA.
Obito looked up as he saw Kisame walking toward their table. He smiled the smile that was reserved for his lover alone. “Hey sexy beast,” Obito said, drawing a groan from Itachi. Obito rolled his eyes, “What? Like you aren’t this bad with Baki.”
Itachi blushed. Ever since he’d first met Sasuke’s bodyguard he’d been intrigued. He’d seen Baki around through dealings with his uncle’s company, but he’d never gotten a chance to introduce himself. Then, in a pleasant turn of events in an unpleasant situation, he found the man living with him. He waved the comment off with a flick of his wrist. “Kisame, was the band all right when you left?”
Kisame nodded. “It looks like they are up to something. The people that were following the band have more or less disappeared. Anko is still watching them, along with Indigo, but I think they are safe.”
Obito’s eyes took a serious glint. “This is good news for the band, but bad news for Sasuke.” He pulled Kisame down into the chair next to him, taking his hand for comfort. “We need to find that headquarters. I don’t know whether this means they’ve broken Sasuke or not. I have a lot of faith in Sasuke’s strength, but even an Uchiha can only take so much.”
Itachi sighed. “I have to think Sasuke has some kind of plan up his sleeve, but I agree. We need to get in and take him back. At the same time, I think we need to think of how we are going to take down the big three. The rest of the families’ members are weak and will crack without them.”
Kisame kissed Obito’s cheek before standing again. “I’ve got to get back to the band with their drinks, but I think Itachi is right. There’s no strength in either group without the top guys.” He kissed Obito one last time before going to the counter for drinks.
Itachi frowned. He’d been in a really bad mood since Sasuke had slipped into his father’s hands. He knew it wasn’t Baki’s fault, and he wasn’t mad at his partner, but Baki was taking the situation harder than anyone. Though, Baki had at least stopped moping around and had turned his anger into an intense energy he was using to search for any information about Akatsuki. It was because of Baki they knew about this particular café.
Obito sighed and placed his hand on Itachi’s shoulder. “Sasuke will be fine.” Obito took a deep breath and looked into Itachi’s eyes. “And if he isn’t, then there will be hell to pay.”
Itachi nodded, a slightly crazed glint forming in his eye. “If my father has touched Sasuke the same way he did me, I’ll tear his balls off his body with my own hand and force-feed them down his fucking throat.”
Obito ran his hand over Itachi’s hair in a soothing manner. He’d done so the first time he found out what was happening to his nephew. He couldn’t believe the family could be that sick and twisted, but he knew deep down that his heart understood. He was the ‘good’ one in the family and that was really saying something. He knew he had to stop whatever was starting in Itachi’s mind. “Itachi, that was a long time ago. You’re away from him now.”
Itachi shook his head and looked at his concerned uncle. He smiled a soft, sad smile that he reserved for Sasuke and Obito alone. “I know. It’s just hard thinking that Sasuke is in their hands now.”
Obito sighed. “I know. Let’s focus on pleasant things for a bit.” Itachi quirked an eyebrow at his uncle. Obito smirked. “So tell me more about you and Baki. I hear tell you two kept Sasuke up the whole night before his flight out here.”
Itachi shrugged. “Kisame told you about that, huh?” Obito nodded. “I don’t know. He doesn’t seem to care about my past, or the fact that I associate with a less than reputable family member.” Itachi shot a half-assed glare at his uncle before he noticed a red head that looked very familiar. He nodded over Obito’s shoulder. “Is that him?”
Obito pretended to be looking at the menu as he checked out the person Itachi had indicated. He nodded. “Time to start the operation, I guess.”
They both stood up and walked to the counter, standing on either side of the man. If he didn’t recognized them as Uchiha’s he’d be an idiot. The man looked at the men on either side of him and started to feel a little nervous. He chuckled, “Um, you guys still in town keeping tabs on our newest member?”
Itachi nodded, fixing the man with a death glare. “Is he behaving?” He wanted information without having to actually take the man in, if possible. If they alerted Pein to their attempts, Sasuke might be in trouble. “What’s your name?”
The red head was a little shocked that someone in the Uchiha family, and by the looks of it a prominent member, wanted his name. “Why?”
Itachi smirked at him a little. “Thought you looked like fun.” He licked his lips just a little and let his eyes travel. Thank god he was so skilled in reading people. It made his job easier, and it made this situation unbelievably easy.
The red head smiled and his body language became relaxed. “Sasori. As to your question, yeah, he’s behaving. My master had to bring in Madara and Fugaku, but he’s finally behaving.”
Itachi hid the urge to strangle the man on the spot for what he assumed had happened to Sasuke. He merely nodded; no more emotion visible on his face than before the statement. “Good.”
Obito laughed beside them. “I know my friend here is interested in what you have to offer, but we have an appointment we need to get to. I wouldn’t mind having some fun with you, too. Can we find you later?”
Sasori smiled. Two Uchihas wanted him? That was almost too good to be true. He nodded. “Yeah, but not for two weeks. Pein’s got me tied up with projects until then.” He handed Obito a card with his number on it, smirking. “Call me and we’ll set up a meeting.” He trailed his hand down Itachi’s chest. Itachi merely smirked at him, nodding.
Sasori took his coffee order and headed out the door. Itachi and Obito waited for a little while and then followed. Sasori entered an office building, and his trails noted down the address. They doubted this was where Sasuke was being kept, but at least it was information. Once they had this meeting, if nothing could be done sooner, they would beat the information out of the little prick if need be. They would have Sasuke back in their hands by two weeks from today. There was no other option.
Naruto smiled when he saw the sadistic look on Itachi’s face instead of the look of complete despair and disappointment that normally adorned his face when he returned from the coffee shop. He smiled, “Good day, Itachi?”
Itachi smirked. “Oh yeah. Got an address and got a phone number for one of the bastards.” He looked at Naruto, “You had a video shoot today, didn’t you?” Naruto nodded. “How’d that go?”
Naruto smirked. “If Sasuke sees the video, he’ll understand. We can only hope they don’t turn the video off when they see it’s us. I intentionally used words that would clue Sasuke in to our intentions. It’s a matter of whether or not he’s coherent enough to realize what they mean.”
Itachi nodded. He looked around the hotel room. “Is Baki here yet?”
Naruto laughed. “He told me to tell you he’ll be back in a bit. He was heading to get some groceries for us all.” Naruto’s face fell into a frown. “Itachi,” he sighed, “is there any chance that Sasuke is all right still?”
Itachi sat down heavily at the table. “It’s doubtful. I mean, Sas is strong, but it’s been over two weeks now. I can’t imagine that if he is still holding out on them he’ll be all right.”
Naruto wiped a tear from his eye. “He actually was stupid enough to think that I wouldn’t want him after this.”
Itachi nodded. “I’m sorry, Naruto. I wish that my family was different, but I have no say in the matter. All you need to know is that Obito and I have been working on bringing them down for a long time.”
Naruto sighed and sat down across from Itachi. “Look, I’ve had a really dark past. I’ve done a lot of things I’m not proud of. There were many things that I didn’t have control of in my life, but I know what Sasuke’s going to be going through when we find him. I want him to stay with me for a while, but that’s just being selfish.”
Itachi shook his head and held up a hand. “I know about your past.” He shrugged at the questioning look on Naruto’s face. “I have connections and can get a background check with no questions asked.” He smirked at a look of indignation so like the ones Sasuke could give. “I had to check out the only person I’ve ever heard my brother say he loves.”
Naruto sighed, but smiled. “I’ll forgive it then.” He wiped another tear. “I really do love him, you know.”
Itachi nodded. He tensed suddenly. “Someone’s listening.” He walked around the room and found a microphone. Naruto don’t know how Itachi sensed it or why he hadn’t sensed it before, but he was officially freaked out. Itachi put the thing directly to his mouth and shouted, “FUCK OFF!” Then he tossed it to the ground and smashed it to pieces.
Itachi went around the room, looking for other devices. He found another microphone and two small cameras. He destroyed them all before calling Baki, “Hey,” he said.
Baki smiled as he said, “Hey yourself. What’s going on?”
Itachi sat back down at the table with Naruto. “Two situations possible; both need examining. One: Someone’s been in the room while we were gone and planted bugs. Two: Someone on the team is a double agent.”
Baki sighed. “Shit, that’s bad.” He growled, his anger at the situation rising by the second. “We need to determine which it is. First I think we should do a decoy room. I mean, if it is an outside source if we pretend to change rooms; that should throw them off. If it doesn’t, we can assume we have a spy in the ranks.”
Itachi nodded. “That’s what I was thinking.” He bit his lip a little nervously before adding, “Watch your back. I don’t want you getting hurt over this.”
Baki smiled. “Yeah, back at you.” He sighed as he rubbed his temples. This was going to complicate things. He hadn’t planned on falling in love with his boss’s nephew.
Itachi sighed. “We’re going to be changing rooms today, only not for real. Still, you’ll need to go sign the new papers for the new room. If that decoy room is targeted, it’s safe to say it’s someone outside the group getting in here. If not, then I’d say we’ve got a spy in the midst.”
Naruto sighed. He really wished Sasuke’s friends hadn’t had to go home after the show, but they had to keep up appearances that everything was fine. It just would be nice to have some piece of Sasuke right now, other than his luggage. “I guess that fits this fucked up situation.” He and Itachi walked down to the front desk and made the arrangements to move Naruto’s room and change the room they were in to a false name. Of course, they didn’t say it was a false name; and it wasn’t really. Though Naruto didn’t know it, they were using Indigo’s real name.
