Chapter 12: Invasion of Konoha
Konoha: Hokage’s Office Three Days before the Massacre at Border Town
Standing before the seated Hokage were four of the village’s most decorated shinobi. They were Shikaku Nara, Hayate Gekk�, Anko Mitarashi and Ibiki Morino Standing behind the Hokage was six of his personal ANBU guards.
“Lord Hokage the village has been swept twice searching for Naruto. No trace has been found except for his shinobi gear which we found scattered randomly across the village.” Shikaku reported as he placed a map of the village on the Hokage’s desk. The map appeared to have a random pattern of X marks on it.
“The X’s are where you found some of his gear?” The Hokage asked the strategist.
“Yes they seemed to be dumped in random locations around the village. There is no damage to the gear; there is no trace of blood or any other substance on the gear. We don’t have any clue as to what happened except for the fox revealing itself.” Shikaku replied as he pointed to specific spots on the map.
“Lord Hokage some of those spots aren’t random at all.” A female ANBU with purple haired said stepping forward to point at three specific spots on the map.
“What are you implying Cat?” The Hokage asked.
“If I may Lord Hokage, these three spots are where Naruto as a child was either seriously injured or like this spot here was killed. Lord Hokage you remember when Cat and I found his dead body here in this dark alley. You know if it wasn’t for the regenerative powers of the fox the boy would have been dead and gone well before he entered the academy.” Hayate said tapping the X closest to where Naruto lived.
“Hmm I wonder if this is Naruto or the fox sending a message.” Shikaku mused as his hand scratching his chin.
“No I don’t think Naruto or the fox is behind this. If either of them were truly pissed off enough to disappear without a trace he wouldn’t that’s not their style they would assassinate whoever was pissing them off and leave no trace that it was him.” Hayate said as he looked around at some of the people attending the meeting.
“Yes you are quite right; it is why Danz� and the…” The Hokage’s face paled as a realization hit him. “Tiger I need you to go get Kakashi and bring him here immediately.” The Hokage said over his shoulder to one of the ANBU standing behind him. Stepping forward was a male ANBU with short brown hair behind a white cat mask that appeared to have red tiger-like stripes on the edges. The ANBU disappeared in a swirl of leaves.
Hidden Root Hideout: Afternoon after Massacre
“Take him to his cell.” Danz� ordered as F� and Torune dragged the unconscious Naruto into the hidden Hideout.
Danz� followed after his two best operatives as they dragged Naruto between them. “Both of you be weary of the Hokage, he is suspicious that I have taken Naruto.” Danz� said as they walked to Naruto’s cell.
“How did he come to suspect you?” F� asked as Torune dumped Naruto in his cell.
“The old fool remembered a conversion we had a few years ago after Naruto’s assassination of that drug smuggler agent of mine. I told the councilors that I should train Naruto as part of the ANBU, to be a weapon for the village.” Danz� replied as he shook the memory from his head.
“What about Kakashi has anybody discovered the switches?” Torune asked walking out of the cell so that Danz� could place the chakra suppressing seal on the cell.
“No we were fortunate; the switch took place the night after Hiruzen came sniffing around.” Danz� replied after sealing Naruto’s cell.
“What now Lord Danz�, I assume it’s too risky to send the fox on any missions now that the Hokage is suspicious of your movements and actions?” F� asked his master as he began to follow behind him.
“You are correct we while have to lie low with an unconscious Naruto, while we continue to operate normally with the rest of ANBU.” Danz� replied as he continued to walk towards the center of the hideout.
  “What of the deal with the bloody snake is that still going ahead?” F� asked spitting at the thought of dealing with any sort of two-faced, conniving, traitorous bastard of a ninja.
“The plan is still happening so be prepared to lay low in two weeks.” Danz� replied before dismissing them with a wave of his hand.
Training Ground 10
“Come on Hinata get your head on straight. You have barely a week left before the final Ch�nin Exams” Haku yelled as she watched Hinata struggle to get back to her feet after Haku had hit her with a flurry of icy senbon.
“Come on Hinata you can do it, you can take her.” Sakura and Ino shouted as they encouraged Hinata from the sidelines as they watched Haku train her while Kurenai was busy on a mission with Anko. Beside them also watching the training was Tenten and Karin.
“Get up Hinata now, Hinata get up.” Haku yelled again as she flashed through another set of hand signs. Finished weaving signs she opened her hand as a ball of water formed in her open hand. The ball of water began to spin soon turning from water into solid ice. “Get up Hinata because I promise this attack won’t miss.” She yelled at the still struggling Hy�ga.
‘Naruto where are you? I don’t think I can do this?’ the thoughts raced through Hinata’s head again and again, over and over, for hour after hour, day after day week after week for the past three weeks these questions had hounded her, had hurt her.
“Hinata forget about Naruto, he isn’t here, he won’t help you, and he won’t save you from this.” Haku yelled a slight crack in her voice as she threw the ball of ice at Hinata.
That was the final string to snap, Hinata was on her feet and ready as she channeled chakra into her fist and punched the ball of ice into snow, a small tear falling from each of her pearl-like eyes.
Hinata was already in her Gentle Fist stance with her Byakugan activated when Haku threw another set of ice senbon at the Hy�ga heiress. Hinata intercepted every sharp icicle with precise blasts of chakra.
“She’s nowhere near as good as Neji is, I hope Hinata doesn’t have to fight him in the finals.” Tenten said to the other three Kunoichi watching the Hy�ga and ice user train.
“How do you know that?” Ino asked looking away from the training.
“Neji can go toe to toe with Gai sensei in Taijutsu even without his Byakugan activated.” Tenten replied to the shocked and impressed Kunoichi. “Though, now that I think about it if Gai sensei was to use his full strength and abilities in the fight he would definitely beat Neji.” She mused as she watched Hinata again intercept every attack Haku through at her.
Three Days after Massacre
“What could have done this? There was supposed to be a village here.” Kurenai asked rhetorically as the rest of her squad walked up behind her.
“We had no word of foreign shinobi in the area.” Genma answered as they continued to look at the devastation before them.
“Well this is why we are here. We’re here to investigate what happened to the village and if possible find the Feudal Lord’s daughter.” Anko said as she stepped forward into field of smoking tree trunks.
“What does the Feudal Lord’s daughter have to do with this village?” The squad’s medic asked the purple haired snake mistress.
“She was to be married yesterday to a prince of the neighbouring land.” Anko replied shifting through piles of ash.
“You think this was an assassination or something?” the medic replied sifting through his own pile of ash.
“That’s what the Hokage thinks, because the princess’s guards weren’t of the Hidden Leaf but two of his own Guardian Shinobi Twelve.” Anko said moving further into what had been the village centre.
For hours they searched through piles of ash and bone, collecting anything that had survived whatever had caused the total destruction of the village and the surrounding forest.
Near the centre of the village Genma yelled out for his comrades to come and see what he had discovered. With the other three squad members looking over his shoulder he shifted through the ash at his feet and pulled out two signet rings.
“Anko I’m afraid that the princess and her betrothed did not survive this disaster and you might want to look at this Kurenai.” Genma said as he passed the rings to Anko and the small white and black ceramic sherds to Kurenai.
“What are those Kurenai?” Anko asked the red eyed, raven haired beauty.
Channelling chakra into the sherds Kurenai gasped, “A mask it used to be a mask and it had a jutsu placed on it, I’m guessing an illusion jutsu for the wearer, definitely a shinobi’s mask.” Kurenai replied as she placed all of the sherds in a pouch.
“Well that’s our mission done; we better get back to the village and report to the Hokage, I don’t envy him having to report this to the Feudal Lord.” Anko replied as she placed the rings in her pouch and led the squad out of the village and heading towards home.
Hidden Root Hideout
  Danz� was walking down a dimly lit corridor, F� and Torune following closely behind. Following behind them were two men dressed in full light aqua medical scrubs both pushing metal trolleys laden with an assortment of medical equipment.
“I want you to keep the fox sedated I don’t want him sensing the fights that are taking place in the arena tomorrow.” Danz� ordered as the neared the cell of the one they spoke of.
They stopped in front of the cell that was Naruto’s and the Nine Tails new home. Inside the cell Naruto was lying face down his back to the cell door. “F� when I drop the seal I want you to place the chakra suppressing tag on him so that the good doctor can administer the sedatives.” Danz� said stepping up to the bars of the cell readying to lower the cell’s seal.
With the seal removed Torune opened the door as F� walked in and rolling Naruto over slapped the chakra suppressing tag on Naruto’s forehead.
Naruto groaned as his chakra was suppressed and distorted.
“Alright doctor time to administer those sedatives.” Danz� said leading the first of the doctors into the cell.
The doctor kneeled beside the still form of Naruto and rolled up the left sleeve of Naruto’s shirt exposing his bare skin. Tapping the skin until the vein was exposed, the doctor picked up the syringe and giving it a little skirt to make sure it wasn’t blocked. The doctor opened Naruto’s right eye as he injected Naruto with the sedative. He watched as Naruto’s blue eye misted as his consciousness was again afloat in a sea of dreamless darkness.
“Doctor, how long before he will need another dose of sedatives?” Danz� asked the doctor as he got up from his kneeling position.
“The dose I gave him would have any other person out for about twenty four hours so my best guess would be somewhere between twelve and twenty four hours before another dose is needed.” The doctor replied as he walked out of the cell behind Danz�.
“Very well, we will administer another dose of sedative in twelve to eighteen hours, Dismissed” Danz� said as he resealed the cell.
There was excitement in the air of Konoha. Fireworks exploded in the blue sky with fluffy white clouds floating lazily on the wind. From all over Konoha and allied foreign nations civilians and shinobi alike were streaming towards the large arena that would host the finals of the Ch�nin Exams.
Walking towards the stadium was a group of eleven ninja; nine of those were Konoha ninja.
“Who would ever have guessed that a whole first year Genin squad would make it through to their first Ch�nin Exam finals together?” Ino asked as the group made their way to the stadium getting closer and closer with every step.
“I always knew that Squad Eight was the best.” Kiba gloated from his place at the front of the group.
“That’s real funny Kiba but didn’t your opponent quit due to chakra exhaustion?” asked a boy with long straight black hair and with the pearl-like eyes of the Hy�ga clan.
“Ease up Neji, Kiba could have won that match if it went longer, right Kiba?” replied a black, bowl haired ninja in a green jumpsuit on crutches supported by Ino on one side and Sakura on the other.
“Hmph, unlikely, that ninja wasn’t exhausted at all, did either of you remember when the second member of that team also withdrew of ‘chakra exhaustion’ they both looked as fresh as the moment they started the exam.” Neji replied heatedly as he air quoted the chakra exhaustion.
“Now that you mention it, only that aqua haired girl fought and she demolished that teammate of Kabuto’s.” Tenten replied as she thought on Neji’s words.
“Yeah she almost broke his neck with one punch. That’s some scary power.” Ino replied with a chill running down her spin as she remembered F�’s prelim match.
“Hey Hinata you have to fight her in your first match are you nervous?” Ino asked over her shoulder to the Midnight haired Hy�ga heiress who was flanked by Haku and Karin.
“N-no, i-I’m not.” Hinata answered startled as she hadn’t been paying any attention to the conversation.
Soon they were entering the stadium. They quickly split up with Hinata, Neji, Shikamaru, Kiba and Shino walking towards the centre of the stadium, the rest head to their seats to await the start of the Ch�nin Exam Finals.
Naruto’s eyes fluttered open as he drifted in a sea of darkness. “Where am I?” he groaned holding his head as it throbbed in pain.
“Your finally awake about fucking time, it’s been hours since I removed the sedation drugs from your system.” Kurama growled from what felt like a mile away.
“Kurama is that you? Where are you?” Naruto croaked as he tried to peer into the darkness surrounding him.
“Look up!” Kurama’s voice carried to his ears from what seemed like a world away. Naruto followed Kurama’s directions and raised his head to look directly up. High above him in the sea of darkness was a bright point of red light like a single star in the night sky.
“The red light is that you Kurama?” Naruto groaned as he tried to rotate and face the piercing spot of red light.
“No it is where I am, come here Naruto.” Kurama’s voice carried across the void between them.
Naruto groaned in discomfort as he began to swim towards the light.
‘Naruto you idiot.’ Kurama thought as he watched Naruto’s sliver of consciousness stumble and stagger as he walked in the vast darkness of his unconscious mind. “Naruto you don’t have to walk here, all you have to do is think of being here and you will be here.” Kurama chuckled as he watched Naruto’s small consciousness struggle to break through the darkness.
As Naruto walked steadily towards the growing red light the darkness around him began to recede like an ocean tide going out. Before he knew it Naruto was walking through the sewers that were the shared mindscape of Naruto and Kurama.
Startled Naruto stopped dead in his tracks, “Kurama what are you doing in the cage?” Naruto asked surprised to see the fox in his cell and not out in the forest scape.
“I’ve been stuck in here for weeks now ever since you got snatched in the tower.” Kurama grumbled the answer as Naruto looked at him confused.
“What do you mean I got snatched?” Naruto demanded peevishly.
“What is the last thing you remember before waking up here?” Kurama asked afraid that the torture Naruto had gone through had done permanent damage to his psyche.
“Burning, I remember burning.” Naruto whispered his body shaking as he patted himself down looking for any sign of burning. “Kurama why is my seal almost completely undone?” he asked looking at the seal on his stomach.
Looking back at Kurama Naruto felt the urge to leave the sewers and return to their normal mindscape. “So you gonna stay in that cage or can we change the scenery here?”
Around them the pipes of the sewers faded away as they were replaced by trees and other foliage. The foul water around their feet began to disappear to be replaced with mounds and hills of grass and rivers of fresh flowing water.
“This is better is it?” Naruto said stretching. “So Kurama you gonna fill me in on what’s happening, why I’m locked up in a cell?”
“A Sharingan huh, I wonder who this Shisui is that Kakashi was talking about?” Naruto asked aloud after Kurama explained how they were in this situation. “So this Danz� used a stolen Sharingan from this Shisui to control and influence your weakened mind, right?”
Kurama nodded his head. “That poison he used on you didn’t just affect you it affected me as well, while I was healing us both the poison was attacking and weakening my chakra making me weak enough to be controlled. Danz�’s stolen Sharingan is no match for Madara’s Mangeky� Sharingan, though at times I still feel an urge to serve him.”
“How did he do that? Doesn’t he have to get into your mind to do that?” Naruto asked.
“Yes but it seems Danz� isn’t subtle enough to use that Shisui’s Mangeky� properly because he didn’t get in my head but just used the blunt force of his will, probably why I can now resist this disgusting urge now that we’re fully healed from their poisons.”
“So how are we going to break out of here? You mentioned that there is a seal on the cell’s bars, do you know what the seal does?”
“If we touch it, it sends a shock through the person’s nerves burns their skin and disrupts the victim’s chakra. I’m not sure how long its effects last though.”
“So we have to wait for them to open the cell?” Naruto asked rhetorically to himself. “What would be the next best step to escape, should we go big or just sneak our way out?”
“Sneaking would be the smartest option but let me guess you want to go big, you want to feel the power of the seven tails second state chakra cloak.” Kurama grinned at his young host.
“Well of course I want to see this new chakra cloak state, but you’re right the best option would be to sneak out of here.” Naruto replied as he internally imagined himself in a second state chakra cloak.
“I you assume you have a plan to escape, since you’ve had weeks to come up with something?” Naruto quipped at the giant fox.
“Hmph, you little brat of course I have a plan, for some reason they’ve had you sedated for the past ten hours. They will need to sedate you again in another two hours or so, that’s when we escape.”
“Why would they have me sedated what could be going on?” Naruto rhetorically asked aloud.
The sun was almost to its zenith when the hokage stood up from his seat overlooking the arena. Below him were the ten Genin finalists all lined up and facing the stadium where the Hokage and Kazekage were seated.
Looking around the stadium the Hokage began to speak. “Welcome to the Ch�nin Exam Finals, each of these ten finalists has proven their skill and abilities to be here for a chance at being promoted from Genin to Ch�nin.” Each of the finalists bowed to the Kages before they walked up to the competitors’ box high above the arena floor. “Genma you may begin whenever.”
  Genma walked into the centre of the arena. “The first two finalists Kiba Inuzuka and Neji Hy�ga come down here so that we can begin.”
As Kiba and Neji walked down to the arena’s floor high above them in the stands Sakura and Ino were looking around for a specific person.
“Where is Hayate sensei, isn’t he the proctor for this exam, why is Genma the proctor?” Sakura asked looking around. “Kakashi sensei where is Hayate sensei? Why is Genma the proctor for this exam?” she asked the silver haired J�nin behind her.
“Because he was killed two days ago.” Kakashi whispered loud enough for the five Genin alone to hear.
“I wonder if Naruto knows what happened to Hayate sensei.” Haku wondered aloud.
“Probably not, no one knows where Naruto is.” Kakashi replied in a monotone voice. Both Haku and Karin looked at him questioningly as he looked down at the arena floor.
“That was weird” Haku whispered to her red haired friend.
“Yeah, his voice was weird all of a sudden.” Karin whispered back before Genma below began to explain the rules of the exam.
“You will obey all my commands. As you know all Kage level techniques are forbidden, any such use will lead to automatic disqualification. If I deem a fight to be over I will intervene and call the match over. So you both understand?”
Both Kiba and Neji nodded as they squared off ready to fight.
“Begin” Genma ordered as he stepped away from the centre of the arena.
Instantly Kiba was on all fours, Akamaru by his side. “Man beast clone.” In a puff of smoke Akamaru was replaced by an illusion of Kiba who was standing on the back of the original Kiba. “Fang over Fang.” Both Kibas became miniature tornados that raced towards the stationary Neji.
“They are coming, you ready for this Naruto?” Kurama asked as they both sensed the approaching people.
“I was born ready.” Naruto said as he allowed Kurama to take control of his rag clothed body which was lying face down, while he waited in his mindscape for Danz� to take a peek inside his head.
They didn’t have to wait long before Danz� arrived followed by his two bodyguards F� and Torune. Behind them came the doctor again pushing a metal trolley with a tray full of bottles and syringes.
“Hurry up doctor the Ch�nin Exam Finals has begun and I want the demon and the brat sedated yesterday so they don’t sense the chakra of the Genin in the arena.” Danz� ordered as he released the seal to the cell’s barrier jutsu.
“Fucking asshole I’m going to fuck and kill him.” Naruto raged in his mindscape as he realised that he had lost a whole month of his life being imprisoned by the bandaged man that stood on the other side of the cell’s bars.
F� held the door open as Danz� and Torune walked into the cell followed by the doctor and his trolley. “Alright doctor, hurry up and sedate the brat.” Danz� ordered.
The doctor grabbed two syringes both had a clear liquid inside them. He both gave each a test squeeze to make sure they weren’t clogged. With the smaller of the two syringes he leaned over the prone body of Naruto ready to inject the contents of the syringe into the blonde.
Just as the doctor was in the motion of placing the syringe next to Naruto’s arm, Kurama struck. Naruto’s eyes bolted open to show the red eyes of Kurama and instantly he was in a first state five tailed chakra cloak.
Kurama controlling Naruto’s body struck out at the doctor grabbing him by the throat with his right hand and threw the doctor at the right hand wall of the cell. The doctor smashed into the wall the sickening sound of hundreds of cracking and breaking bones filled the air. His five tails swept to the left sweeping aside Torune before he could react to the attacking fox. Pivoting on his right foot Kurama came face to face with Danz� and his exposed stolen Sharingan.
Inside Naruto’s mindscape Danz� came face to face with a pissed off Naruto. “Haha you fucking idiot in here you can’t protect your body, and that Sharingan of yours won’t work on us now that we are fully healthy.” Naruto chuckled with a malicious grin as he sensed Kurama swat Danz�’s body aside. At the same time the image of Danz� before him faded and vanished from his mindscape.
Kurama jumped at F� as he tried to close the cell door. The cloaked blonde crashed into the cell door causing it to swing back into the face of F� smashing his nose and splitting his lips and his forehead. Finally free of the cell that had held them for a week plus Kurama ran as fast as he could for the only exit he knew of, the exit that led to the forest outside of Konoha.
They meet no resistance as they raced for the exit. “Why aren’t they chasing us, hell why aren’t their alarms ringing, Kurama you didn’t hit him hard enough to hurt him so why are they allowing us to escape?” Naruto mused aloud as Kurama neared the exit. “Is that it?”
“Yes we should be out…”
“You felt it too? What was that?”
“I haven’t sensed that chakra in a long time, It’s Shukaku, the One Tail.” Kurama answered as he still in control of Naruto’s body came to a stop at the hideout’s forest exit.
  “What about that other chakra signature, it felt evil, it felt wrong.” Naruto shuddered at the pulsating evil aura that radiated from the village.
“Orochimaru’s Curse Mark.” Kurama spat in disgust at the disgusting, corrosive scent of the Curse Mark.
“What is a Curse Mark?”
“Nothing good, the bearer of the curse mark gets an unnatural power surge, however it allows the caster of the jutsu to influence or dominate the mind of the Curse Mark’s bearer.” Kurama explained as they exited the hideout.
“Kurama do you smell those scents?” Naruto asked as he took back control of his body.
“Yes they definitely aren’t of the Leaf.” Kurama answered as he sensed the chakras that belonged to those scents.
“What the fuck was that?” Naruto said aloud as a flare of hateful chakra emanated from the village.
“What the fuck is going on?” Naruto muttered as the multiple scents around him began to move towards the village.
A set of explosions in the distance had Naruto running for the village.
Five Minutes before Naruto’s Escape Konoha Arena
“The winner of this match is Neji Hy�ga.” Genma called out as Neji began walking back to the competitors’ staging area.
“We will have a five minute break before the next match so that the next two competitors can ready themselves.” Genma continued as medics began tending to Kiba and Akamaru who were bleeding from multiple cuts to their bodies.
“Sasuke is next, he’s gonna trounce that Sand punk.” The platinum blonde Ino cheered, at the end of the isle Lee hung his head as he thought on his future career, or lack of.
“What do you think Kakashi sensei?” Sakura asked the silver haired J�nin behind her.
“He has a chance, he picked up my Chidori quite quickly, but it will only be effective if he can get close and from what I know of Gaara he is a long distance ninjutsu fighter.” Kakashi replied as he waited with the rest of them for the match to begin.
The five minutes passed rather quickly before Genma was again walking out to the centre of the arena. “The next match is Sasuke Uchiha VS Gaara of the Sand, come down so we can begin.”
Both glared at each other as they walked down to the arena. Both stood in front of Genma as he went through the match protocol again. “Now step back and begin on my mark.”
Both walked backwards still glaring at the other. Genma waited until both stopped walking before steeping back, “Begin!”
Sasuke was of like a bolt as he raced towards Gaara who standing still began to call on his sand to shoot out at the oncoming Sasuke. Sasuke was easily able to dodge the spears of sand as he continued to bear down on the stationary Gaara. Sasuke jumped high above Gaara readying himself to launch a barrage of punches and kicks at the Sand ninja.
Gaara watched Sasuke descend upon him as his sand raced past his head and formed a shield above his head as Sasuke tried to heel kick him. As Sasuke landed in front of Gaara and lashed out with a sweep kick Gaara’s sand again rushed to form a solid shield in front of the still stationary Sand ninja.
Sasuke leaped and flipped over Gaara launching a kick at his head which was again blocked by the sand. As his kick was blocked he threw a right jab straight into Gaara’s nose splitting the sand armour he wore.
‘He hit me; he actually hit me, only Naruto has been able to hit me.’ Gaara thought in a panic as the sand armour around his face continued to crack and disintegrate back into fine sand at his feet. Gaara looked up to see Sasuke on the far side of the arena his Sharingan active and lightning flowing from his left hand.
As Sasuke charged the piercing wail of the Chidori echoed throughout the arena. Gaara watched as Sasuke charged at him from front on in a straight line. ‘He can’t evade any counterattack he’s moving too fast to dodge.’ Gaara thought as he analysed Sasuke’s jutsu. Gaara summoned all of his sand to surround him in a sphere leaving only a large enough hole so he could see out of.
As Sasuke charged in closer Gaara’s sphere shield turned into a spike shield as the sand begun to form spikes and shootout at the onrushing Uchiha. Sasuke was surprised at the speed of Gaara’s countering spikes but thanks to his Sharingan his enhanced ability to read and predict his opponent’s movements he was able to dodge the majority of the striking spikes. It became harder and harder to dodge the spikes as he neared the stationary Sand ninja.
He was less than five feet from Gaara when one of the spikes pierced the outside of his right shoulder throwing him of balance as he struck with his Chidori. Gaara screamed in pain as the Chidori pierced his shield and pierced through the top of his left shoulder well away from his heart, Sasuke’s original target.
High above the arena floor on the roof sat the Hokage and the Kazekage who both watched the match below with interest. As Sasuke pierced Gaara’s shield and the Sand ninja’s scream of agony echoed around the arena the Kazekage leaned close to this left hand body guard. “Begin the assault.” He whispered to the leaning body guard who instantly Shunshined away in a swirl of leaves.
Back in the arena below them Gaara was in the midst of his tailed beast transformation as his anger at being injured allowed the One Tail inside him to influence Gaara’s decision making. Across from Gaara, Sasuke was also struggling with his burning Curse Mark which was beginning to spread as his chakra diminished.
In the stands every ninja capable of sensing chakra looked around for the source of sudden chakra flares all across the village. “Kakashi sensei did you sense that?” Ino asked.
“Yes something is wrong here and I don’t like it.” Kakashi answered just as multiple explosions rocked the village.
Naruto in a five tailed chakra cloak was running as fast as he could towards the closest of the explosions when his enhanced sense of smell picked up a scent he hadn’t smelt for some time.
“Where do I know that scent?” He asked aloud as he skidded to a stop smelling a familiar female scent. “That’s it the border skirmishes with the Hidden Stone.”
Naruto dropping his chakra cloak sneaked his way through the forest towards the familiar scents. As he neared the scents he jumped up into the coverage of the treetops. He stopped just above the scents he had been following. Below him were ten Hidden Stone shinobi who were facing a ten man squad of Hidden Sound shinobi. Standing at the front of the Hidden Stone was the female leader of the Stone invaders that he had fought against at the border.
‘What’s going on here? What are foreign shinobi doing here when the Ch�nin finals are on?’ Naruto thought as he continued to watch the two groups of shinobi interact.
“The signal has been given prepare for assault.” The female Stone Kunoichi ordered as she paced before her squad.
“The assault has begun, the signal will arrive any moment.” One of the Sound ninja said as he signaled for his squad to get in position.
Naruto watched as the sound ninja formed a circle around the Stone ninja who stood in the dead centre of the forest clearing. Naruto watched as the ten Sound ninja simultaneously slammed a scroll onto the floor. Before his very eyes a summoning circle of chakra emerged around the two squads.
“Reverse summoning!” The leader of the Sound ninja yelled. In a burst of smoke the ten Stone shinobi were gone.
From the direction of the village a chorus of pained screams assaulted his enhanced hearing in waves.
‘Interesting they could be anywhere inside the village.’ Naruto thought as he prepared to wipe out the ten shinobi below him. Naruto instantly was back into his five tailed chakra cloak as he dropped onto the nearest of the Sound shinobi. He landed on the ninja’s shoulders driving the ninja to his knees. Both cloak claws came down around the ninja’s neck and with a casual yank of his arms Naruto snapped his neck and was already leaping at the next ninja in line. Naruto punched with a straight right his chakra cloak arm extending the punch through the body of the first and second victim before hitting the third square in the jaw and sending him flying through the air to crash headfirst into a tree crushing his skull and compressing his neck and spine killing him instantly. In barely three seconds Naruto had killed four Sound shinobi and was already in the midst of striking at the leader.
“Who the fuck are you? Do you know who you are fucking messing with?” the leader of the Sound shinobi shouted as Naruto stalked towards him and the other Sound ninja behind him.
Inside his mindscape Naruto asked “should we show him?” come on let’s go seven tails.” Naruto badgered the fox.
“Alright Naruto let’s go to the second stage seven tails form.” Kurama said a malicious grin spread out across his face.
Back in front of the six remaining Sound shinobi the same malicious grin spread across Naruto’s face as his chakra cloak began to change shape and colour. The cloak changed from a fiery orange to an almost bloody red. Two extra tails erupted from the cloak to swish back and forth behind him. His body grew almost twice as tall as his normal height and more Vulpine in shape. Vulpine like bones encased his skull, spine, ribs, arms and hands and around his waist forming a natural armour. The bones around his hands formed sword-like claws; the bones of the spine armour were razor sharp.
“You’re gonna die here monster, you are completely outnumbered.” The Sound leader bluffed as he let loose with an attack of multiple soundwave blasts.
Naruto easily dodged through the trio of soundwaves as he struck with an openhand punch to the leader’s chest. The sword-like bone claws of his right hand pierced through the Sound ninja’s chest, piercing his heart and lungs. Naruto growled in the dying ninja’s face before he casually flung the body away.
Having watched their leader so easily killed the remaining five Sound ninja turned tail and fled from the monster child. With a vicious grin on his face Naruto chased them down one by one, slashing throats and ripping out beating hearts. In a thirty second killing spree, Naruto had killed the five fleeing Sound Ninja and was covered head to toe in blood, which was already seeping into and staining the rags he wore as clothing.
Naruto standing atop his bleeding victims turned to face Konoha, internally he was fighting with himself over what his next action would be, go back and defend the village he hated or turning to the south just leave the village to its fate.
“Go back for your females; an alpha does not abandon his mates.” Kurama growled in his head as he took a step to the south and away from the village he hated.
Explosions rocked the walls of Konoha.
“Kotetsu lookout behind you.” Yelled Izumo a brown haired Ch�nin who was in the midst of firing a water bullet jutsu at one of a pair of giant three headed snakes.
Kotetsu ducked under the sword swing of a Sand ninja while at the same time impaling a Stone ninja on his kunai-like curved sword.
“Izumo we can’t take much more of this, we’re outnumbered almost twenty to one.” Kotetsu yelled out as he removed the sword from his latest victim to block a sword stroke from a Sound ninja, and then step-back from an overhead slice from the Sand ninja he had just ducked under.
“Yeah I know, I know these bloody snakes are taking all we got and not going down.” Izumo shouted back as he jumped backwards away from a soundwave attack.
Both of them looked out over the wall as multiple roars of hatred rang out from the arena and was answered from outside the village. Beyond the walls screams of pain and misery carried to those Leaf ninja still defending the walls of Konoha. All the combatants looked out towards the screams to see a reddish flash moving closer and closer to the wall, the screams of pain and misery getting louder and louder, closer and closer.
Then they saw it a blood soaked monster with seven tails tearing and ripping through the ranks of Sand, Sound and Stone ninja assaulting the walls of Konoha.
Naruto raced towards the closest snake to him the furthest away from the walls. He ran up its back, his bone claws slashing back and forth as he ran for its head. Halfway up the rearing snakes back Naruto jumped up above the snake before plummeting back down onto the snake at the base of its neck behind its three heads severing them off with a cross slash of both clawed hands.
The snake’s body crashed to the ground after the severed heads. Standing atop the decapitated snake Naruto threw his head back and howled a blood freezing howl of hate and bloodlust.
Before anyone could react the closest snake smashed through the giant wall and begun to make its destructive path through the village.
“Bring Down The House Jutsu.” From high above the lone snake a giant toad with two swords strapped to his back emerged from a giant burst of smoke to come crashing down atop the snake’s neck. The toad drew one of the swords and drove it point down through the back of the snake’s three heads. Atop of the giant toad was an old man with spikey white hair with a waist length pony tail.
With everybody’s attention drawn to the new arrivals they never saw Naruto disappear into the village.
A/N 2: So that was the new chapter i hope you enjoyed it, i know it's just a steping stone for the next three chapters which i'm enjoying writing, i love writing fight and combat scenes. Again any feedback is welcome.
