Chapter 12: Black Earth
“Konan you’re back.” Sasuke said as Konan entered his home. She had been sent to the Land of Earth to find a good woman for Sasuke which would also get him connections to Iwagakure. When it came to missions, Konan was definitely the most efficient, probably thanks to her time as Pein’s right hand.

“I have also heard them talking about a coming meeting between our villages for a new treaty since the two villages are still at odds.” She continued.
Sasuke smiled some more, this was a perfect chance. It would be simple to let Tsunade let him attend the meeting.

Sasuke was standing near Tsunade as she talked to the Tsuchikage, Onoki. Behind him were his two bodyguards, a big man he didn’t know and the woman of his interest Kurotsuchi who looked bored. On the positive side, he was also experienced and didn’t harbour a personal grudge against Konoha or the Fourth Hokage like many other of their villagers. At least this would make it easier for him. He was also really stubborn, so Sasuke decided to use his abilities to make things run faster.
Giving Tsunade a signal, she moved on to the main topic, at least for him. “As a way to improve our relations, how about a marriage between two of our shinobi?” She suggested.
Onoki seemed surprised, marriages for the sake of treaties between villages were really old fashioned, and that’s saying something for him, and were rare. He didn’t expect someone like Tsunade to suggest such a thing. Thinking about this he tilted his head to show he was interested.
“This is Sasuke Uchiha.” She said motioning to him as he bowed his head slightly, a gesture that irked him, he never bows. “He is one of the strongest ninja in this village and a possible candidate for the next Hokage.”
“An Uchiha hmm?” Onoki muttered. While he didn’t have anything against Uchihas, bad memories of meeting Madara Uchiha flashed through his mind.
“Yes, as you know Sasuke is the last of the clan so its revival would be very important, a strong Kunoichi from your village would be very beneficial.”
“And how would that benefit us?” He asked.
“Well if the mother of his child is from your own family, he or she could live in Iwa if they wished and strengthen your village.” She suggested. She knew Sasuke wouldn’t mind. It was his goal to have the Uchiha clan to one day be the dominant clan in the world, to do so would have children growing up in different villages. She also emphasised the point ‘your own family’ knowing Kurotsuchi was the only female of his blood.
Kurotsuchi felt a shiver up her spine. She hoped he would refuse, but for some reason she had a feeling he wouldn’t.

As if furthering her worries Onoki responded, “Hmm, Kurotsuchi is the only person eligible for it.” Though he was obviously hesitating, even with Sasuke’s Sharingan influencing, well it was only natural, she was his granddaughter after all.
“If you are worried about her, then we can assure you she will be treated just as our own ninja and can even leave and visit Iwa anytime she wishes.” Sasuke finally decided to join in the conversation, it was going far too slow for him.

Onoki was definitely surprised; no ninja was allowed to roam freely between villages regardless of treaties. “Really? You’re not suspicious she may spy on you and report to us?”
“Of course not.” Tsunade smiled, “I will put my trust in Iwa.” ‘And Sasuke will take care of that anyway.’
