    "No."

    "Onegai?"

    "No."

    "Demo, Neko-sensei..."

"Absolutely not." Kaishi was ready to hurt the boy. He was just so annoyingly persistent.

"Onegai, Neko-sensei? Take me to Suna with you?" Aoi pleaded, giving her his most pitiful face.

Kaishi groaned. The boy was going to kill her with cuteness, but she couldn't do it. Her secret was far too important. No one could know. "No."

    "How come?" he asked, pouting.

"Because I said so, that's why," she answered with a finality in her voice.

"That's not a good enough reason." Aoi pointed out.

"It's the only reason you're getting, now get out of my office and go train."

"So there's more than one reason?"

    "What?"

"The way you said it implied that you had more than one reason."

Her eyebrow twitched. This kid was too smart for his own good. She was training him too well. "I do have more than one reason, but they have nothing to do with you."

"Is it a secret?" he asked, hitting it spot on without trying like he would with a kunai to a target.

"Yes, it's a secret, one I am willing to die to keep. Now get out," she ordered.

    "What sort of secret?"

"The sort that can cause the death of nosy pests."

"I can keep a secret, you know."

    "I never said you couldn't."

"Why won't you tell me?" he asked.

"Because I will never tell anyone," she answered.

"You can trust me," Aoi pointed out.

    "I can't trust anyone."

Aoi's face fell, a devastation filling his eyes before falling into a neutral expression taught to him by the woman before him. "Oh."

Kaishi sighed. "Don't think like that. I trust you Aoi, with my life and the lives of this village."

"But not with this big secret."

"I can't afford to have my enemies finding out."

"So it's something they could use against you? Something more precious than Naruto?"

Kaishi froze. She had somehow let that bit leak out in just the tone of her voice. He really was getting good at decoding her speech patterns. "Something just as precious."

Aoi watched her for a moment. "Let me help you protect this precious secret. Onegai, Neko-sensei?"

Kaishi looked the younger ninja in the eyes, those blood-red orbs scanning through his mind and into his very soul. 'He would protect them... I can trust him.' she thought to herself. She then stood, placing some files on a shelf before turning back to her student. "Pack light. We leave for Suna at dawn."

Aoi smiled before embracing the taller woman. "Arigato, Neko-sensei! I promise you I won't fail you!"

Kaishi smiled slightly as she returned the hug. 'My affection for this boy, I fear, will be as much the death of me as Naruto and my own boys shall be.'

    ~*~*~*~

Tatsuo stopped at the banks of the river. Kaishi-san had said Aoi was here. They were going to be leaving soon for Suna and he wanted to say goodbye to Aoi.

Aoi emerged from the cool water like he were made of it. The water streamed over his tan skin and white hair. Tatsuo felt his breath hitch in his throat. Damn, did Aoi look beautiful. The violet eyed boy smiled to Tatsuo as he approached, not missing the pretty blush that stained the paler boy's cheeks.

"K-kaishi-semapi said you were t-training," the usually quiet boy managed to stutter softly.

Aoi nodded. "She calls it 'underwater endurance training' I think she's just trying to see if she could possibly drown me."

Tatsuo blushed deeper as the pale haired boy moved closer, his milky white eyes locking onto a single drop of water as it trailed over his skin. How he envied that drop at that moment.

Aoi smirked again and moved closer. "Like something you see?"

    "Y-yes... I mean... I don't know wh-what you're talking about," Tatsuo attempted to save.

Aoi moved closer, leading his friend against a broad rock. "Is that so?"

Tatsuo swallowed visibly. "Aoi... I-I came to s-say goodbye b-before you leave."

Aoi leaned over the Hyuuga. "I can think of a better way to speak."

    Tatsuo blushed again. "H-how?"

Aoi grabbed the slim, pale skinned boy around the waist and behind his head, tan, black-nailed fingers curling into chestnut hair as he pressed his lips to Tatsuo's in a passionate kiss.

Kaishi smirked to herself from her perch on the heavy branches of a nearby tree. She knew these two were mooning over one another. She had heard Aoi gush on more than one occasion about how beautiful Tatsuo was, of course he hadn't known she was listening those times. She was happy for them, Aoi could hold onto that love he and Tatsuo had while they were gone, and could use it as strength. Her eyes flashed in happiness and sadness at the thoughts of love. She hoped theirs would not be as hers had ever been. She prayed for their happiness. For if she couldn't have any, they should.

    ~*~*~*

Gaara stared at the white haired boy as he landed behind Kaishi with no noise. 'She's brought someone?' he questioned mentally as he looked to Kaishi. "Neechan."

Kaishi smiled and shrugged slightly. "He's my student, and rather persistent."

Aoi looked to Gaara, his expression casual. "You have a demon within you."

Gaara seemed surprised for a small moment before looking to Kaishi. The crimson eyed kunoichi merely shrugged. "You get used to it," she stated before glancing to Aoi. "Okay, kid, I won."

Aoi sighed and nodded. As they left, his sensei had challenged him to a race. Whomever reached Suna first won, and the loser would have to hug a person his sensei called 'Gaa-kun'. "Yes, sensei. So, where is this Gaa-kun guy?"

Kaishi smirked and motioned to Gaara. "Right in front of us."

Aoi blanched. "The Kazekage is Gaa-kun?!"

    "Yup, now do it."

Gaara felt confused, and that was never a good thing. "Neechan..."

He was unable to finish his question as Aoi glomped onto the older boy's waist and began to hug him. Aquamarine eyes widened and soon Aoi found himself flying backwards, propelled by a wall of sand and landing on his ass.

Aoi grunted as he landed and glared at Kaishi. "You knew that was gonna happen."

Kaishi's eyes smiled brightly as she nodded. "Yup."

    "That was payback, wasn't it?"

"Can't get anything past you, now can I?" Kaishi teased as she moved towards the flustered Gaara and calmed him.

Aoi watched with the comfortable ease in which Kaishi and Gaara seemed to get along. Of course Kaishi would find comfort in the presence of one of the most feared shinobi of all of Suna. Of course she would embrace him with almost a familial warmth and had no fear of being flung backwards by sand. Aoi had a feeling this secret was something that tied these two together. A great secret indeed.

    ~*~*~*~

Aoi had been shocked at the meeting to Takeo and Michio. At how she acted with the two little boys and whom they had looked like. He had known that his sensei and the lanky, silver-haired, ninja had a history, but children? That was a shock that he had never expected. Now, he was playing with the boys, helping them master some of their school assigned techniques.

Kaishi herself was enjoying her time of freedom here in Suna. She liked being ignored here, liked that she didn't have to be strong here, liked that here she was just a guest from Konoha. She stared at the cloud dappled, blue skies and sighed. She closed her eyes, basking in the warm sun like a content cat.

Her reverie, however, was interrupted as someone entered the clearing, blocking the warmth of the sun from her. She raised a brow and opened her eyes, only to see blue ones staring down at her from beneath a mass of pale blonde locks. She stood immediately, coming face to face with a man dressed completely in white. From the scarf around his neck, to the coat that shrouded his body, to the shoes on his feet, he was swathed completely in white.

He seemed somewhat startled at her movements, probably not expecting her to move so fast. "I'm sorry, was I intruding?"

She shook her head from her captivation from this man. "No, no that's fine. I probably shouldn't be doing that anyways."

He was silent for a time, taking in her appearance, his eyes stopping at her hitae ate. "You're from Konoha?"

She nodded. "Yeah, just here visiting with the Kazekage and acting in good will to our ally," she said. She blinked then. She was acting like some idiot gennin when they first discovered boys. What was wrong with her?

    "Are you alright?" he asked.

She snapped her eyes to him and nodded. "Oh, yeah... I guess I've been out in the sun too long. I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name?"

"I didn't give it," he answered.

    "Oh."

    "Itansha."

    "What?" she asked.

    "My name. It's Itansha."

"Oh! Nice to meet you, Itansha."

He raised a brow. "And you would be?"

"Where are my manners. I'm Kaishi."

He bowed his head. "A pleasure to meet you, Kaishi."

She felt herself blush at the way he said her name. "Nice to meet you, Itansha."

They stood there in silence for a while before she looked to the sky. "Damn it I'm late," she muttered before looking to the blonde man before her. "If you'll excuse me, I have a few things to do. It was nice to meet you," she bid before dashing off with a burst of great speed, leaving him behind in the clearing.

He stared after her for a few moments. "Kaishi."

    ~*~*~*~

The mission had ended well. The Lord agreeing to no longer use rogue ninja as cheaper replacements for Konoha's ninja. It had been fun to dispatch the rogue ninja, as well as to convince the lord that it was unwise to cross Konoha. Even Aoi had fun with it. Aoi who, at the moment, was leaping about gleefully. After two long missions, one in Suna the other just completed, he was due some downtime with his boyfriend.

Kaishi froze suddenly and leapt down into a clearing. A familiar chakra signature was following them. 'Oh no...' she gasped mentally.

Aoi noticed his sensei's strange behavior and leapt down beside her. "Sensei? Is everything okay?"

    "Run, Aoi," she ordered.

    "What? Why?" he asked.

    "Don't question me, just run."

"I'm not leaving you," he refused.

Kaishi growled. "Mind your sensei and go!"

Aoi took a step back, but still didn't run. "Neko-sensei..."

"Sensei?" a dark voice asked. "I never thought I'd see the day."

Kaishi tensed and pulled out a kunai. "Shit."

Itachi melted from the shadows silently. "Hello, lover."

"Itachi," Kaishi said with a voice devoid of emotion.

    "Itachi? Uchiha Itachi?" Aoi sputtered.

Itachi looked to Aoi, his crimson gaze coldly watching the boy. "I am, and you are?"

"He's no concern of yours, Itachi," Kaishi snapped.

    "Aoi, Ryutama Aoi," Aoi answered.

"You are rather beautiful, Aoi," Itachi said, his voice sounding like silk against Aoi's skin.

Aoi shivered. "You... you disgust me."

    Itachi smirked. "Is that so?"

Aoi moved to glare at the criminal, only to find himself caught in his eyes and dragged into the world of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Meanwhile, only a moment had passed in the real world. A minute Kaishi had become occupied in dodging the swinging blade of the Sahmeda in Kisame's hands. She couldn't let the chakra tearing blade touch her, couldn't at all or risk being stripped of all she had.

Itachi broke the Mangekyo and smiled darkly as Aoi screamed and collapsed in an unconscious heap. He was done with Aoi, for now. Kisame backed down and Kaishi moved to her student's side. Aoi whimpered and shuddered in his unconsciousness. Without thinking, she unwrapped her scarf and wrapped it around the boy as she carried him to the side of the clearing. She then stood and faced the older of the surviving Uchiha traitors and growled.

    Itachi smirked. "Mad, lover?"

Kaishi stalked forward and punched Itachi. "Very."

The fight then began. Both ninja were very skilled, both very fast. The only indicator of the fight were the random smatterings of blood occasionally. An hour passed and Aoi stirred awake. The moment his eyes opened, he sat up, hearing the sounds of the fight. He looked, wide eyed, as Kaishi moved with cat-like grace to deflect a slash from the equally agile Uchiha. Unconsciously, he hugged the scarf tighter around himself. His body throbbed with pain as he stood slowly, pain from wounds that didn't actually exist. Suddenly, rough, blue-grey arms wrapped around his chest and slammed him against a hard chest.

"Try to struggle and I'll coat your insides onto my Sahmeda. I'll sheath it into you so deep that you'll pray for death before it comes," Kisame's fish-laced voice threatened.

Aoi froze. He had seen that cruel sword. It would kill him. Kaishi slipped in her movements for barely a moment and Itachi took advantage. With a quick move, he pinned her to the ground, his cloak torn and discarded beneath her. She cried out as he pressed himself into her own wounds.

A kunai appeared in his hand before stabbing her in the left shoulder blade, rending a scream from the woman. He dragged it jaggedly over and over in precise strokes, each movement pulling a scream from Kaishi. Aoi felt the tears fall as he watched on, felt rage build as the Uchiha then cut open her belt and stripped her lower half.

Itachi sent a knowing smile to Aoi. "Enjoy the show," he said before slamming himself inside the woman beneath him.

Kaishi's scream tore into Aoi's soul like the claws of an enraged beast. Something built within him as he was forced to watch the murdering bastard rape his sensei. AS he watched her beg for him to stop. It was a flame when the Uchiha grunted and spilled himself inside her. It became an inferno when Itachi made her turn and face him, kissing her gently, as though he loved her.

With a strength he didn't know he possessed, Aoi broke free from Kisame's grasp and smashed his fist into the monster's nose, shattering it and making it spurt blood. Kisame cried out and fled, leaving Itachi behind. Aoi leapt at the Uchiha, tackling him to the ground. He managed to smash a fist into the Uchiha's cheek before he was thrown back. That rage built as the boy grabbed his usual weapon, his staff. The rage transformed into a whip of blue flame as Aoi's eyes started to glow with a similar blue light.

Itachi's own gaze widened with shock at the possessed boy. What the hell was happening? His shock grew as the rage consumed him. The whip slammed into Itachi's face, snapping it to the side. Blood dripped from the deep slash in his pale skin

Aoi's rage faded back and with it the power he had just wielded. Before he could blink, Aoi was on his back, Itachi's enraged sharingan spinning over him and the Uchiha's blood dripping onto his face.

"You will pay for that," Itachi snarled.

Aoi felt something sharp bite through his skin and into the flesh of his stomach. He looked down at the long kunai that protruded from his gut, saw his own red blood strain his clothes rapidly. Saw it stain his sensei's scarf. He looked up and Itachi was gone. His vision wavered and he looked to Kaishi, who was staring in abject horror at him.

"Sensei," he gasped before his vision went black.

Kaishi was at his side immediately, pulling the kunai fromhis body carefuly and using her scarf to stop the bleeding. Tears filled her eyes as she felt his blood soak into her fingers. She wept as the blood darkened her scarf completely and stained his hair. She felt her soul scream as she cradled the boy into her arms like a precious thing, feeling his blood seep into her clothing.

"Don't die, onegai, don't die," she begged softly as she turned towards Konoha and used all her strength to make herself race towards the village.

    ~*~*~*~

Tatsuo moved slowly and precisely, his byakugan active as he moved. He enjoyed the peace of it all, practicing alone, and enjoyed being able to go at his own pace. He sighed slightly as he changed position. He missed Aoi. Six months was too long a time to be away on missions.

Suddenly, he paused, his byakugan sensing familiar chakra signatures. His eyes snapped open as he focused on the chakra, one was weakening rapidly and the other was pushing itself harder than one could normally expect, both laced with the darkness of demonic chakra, one more powerful than the other.

He gasped as realization of who the signatures were and why they were in their current condition sparked in his brain like a forest fire. He immediately raced off towards them, his mind racing with horrible thoughts.

Kaishi was tired, The fight, the travel before and after, and her pushing her body as she was had exhausted her chakra reserves and tempted her to tap into the chakra of her oni. Her sensitive senses were overcome with the scent, sight, and feel of blood, Aoi's blood. She barely had time to anticipate Tatsuo before he appeared in her vision.

"Kaishi-sensei!" Tatsuo cried, the loudest anyone had ever heard him.

    Kaishi panted for breath. "Tatsuo-kun."

Tatsuo, if at all possible, looked paler than he usually did as he gazed at her blood soaked body and the broken body cradled in her arms. "Oh kami... is he?"

"No," she snapped, her eyes glittering with determination. "Get a medic team... he needs a medic."

Tatsuo nodded and sped off to find a medical team. There wasn't much time. He could ask why Aoi was wrapped in an Akatsuki cloak later.

Kaishi collapsed to her knees. "They're coming Aoi... onegai, hold on."

It seemed an eternity had passed before the medics and Tatsuo arrived. Nariko, head of the team, saw to it that Aoi was placed on a stretcher and taken immediately by the team. The brunette then knelt beside her ex-teammate and old friend with a gentle look, her hands holding the blood stained cloak.

    "Kai..." her soft voice spoke.

"It was him," Kaishi spoke, her voice cracked and strained. "It was Itachi."

Nariko's chocolate eyes widened. "Oh, Kai."

"Take care of him," the younger woman asked.

"Of course. Kai, do you need me to-" Nariko began.

"I'll be fine," Kaishi's harsh voice interrupted. "Just take care of him."

Nariko nodded, knowing that the crimson eyed woman was hiding something. Hiding whatever wounds she possessed. Nariko watched as Kaishi stood shakily and trudged off towards her apartment, the blood stained scarf wrapped around her neck and hiding her tear stained face.

    ~*~*~*~

The blood sloughed off her skin fairly easily, staining the water pink. Her wounds burned with the heat of the water, tearing a hiss from her lips. She braced herself against the tiles and watched as her student's blood washed away from her hands. Heat built behind her eyes and tears began to fall. It was her fault Aoi was fighting for his life now, her fault Itachi had attacked her. Her fault.

She shut the taps off with a quick motion, her eyes straying to the pink tint to the ceramic tub. That was his blood, her blood, their blood. Spilt by Itachi's hand, shed by their bodies, washed away by cleansing water. She was so sick of all that blood.

Her clothes were in a trashcan, with the exception of her scarf that was soaking in the sink, she gave them no mind as a small flame appeared in her hand and was flicked on top of the blood stained and ruined clothes. They ignited immediately as she moved about, dressing into fresh clothes. Within minutes, the fire died and there was only ash remaining.

She went to the sink and examined her scarf. Blood washed so easily from the red cloth, it seemed. Of course no one could really see the slight shade changes, not like she could. With a quick jutsu, she dried the cloth and wrapped it around her neck and shoulders. She winced as the cloth of her shirt caught on her torn skin, ignoring her pain. She left the house, ignored the looks she received from her neighbors, and headed for the hospital. She had to check on her boy.

    ~*~*~*~

Tatsuo felt helpless as he stared at the doors to surgery. Aoi had been in there for over a half an hour. He wrung his hands nervously. Aoi couldn't die. If he did, Tatsuo would not be able to go on. He didn't want to imagine a world without the white haired boy with a penchant for plastering ever surface with ofuda. He just couldn't. He felt arms wrap around him and pull him close to a warm body. The scent of soap, blood, and something that was just her entered his senses and he buried himself into her chest.

Kaishi held the boy close and stared at the doors silently. 'Please be alright, Aoi. Don't leave us.' she pleaded mentally.

Hours passed, to numerable to count, before those doors opened, grabbing the attention of Kaishi. Tatsuo stirred slightly in her arms, having fallen asleep ages ago. Shizune approached the pair, removing her mask and wiping her hands on her starch-white apron. Tatsuo woke and stared to the older woman expectantly.

"Is he alright?" the quiet boy asked.

Shizune nodded and smiled. "Hai, he's going to be just fine."

Kaishi sighed with relief. "Thank the kami."

"He was badly injured, there were internal injuries that were bizarre in origin and the stab wound had ruptured his spleen, but we were able to stop the bleeding and healed the damage. It's rather a miracle, really. In all honesty, he should have been dead before he got to us," she said. There was more she wanted to say, but Kaishi sensed that the medic didn't want to say it in front of Tatsuo.

A nurse approached Shizune. "He's been moved to his room now."

Kaishi placed a hand on Tatsuo's shoulder. "Tatsuo-kun, why don't you go with the nurse and go see Aoi."

Tatsuo nodded and followed the nurse down the hall, but not before sending Kaishi a concerned look.

    "I'll be right behind you."

Tatsuo nodded again and vanished down the corridor, leaving the two older women to talk. Shizune turned to Kaishi, a grave look in her eyes. "Onibashi-san."

    "Tell me," Kaishi demanded.

"He shows the reactions of a rape-victim, but has no physical symptoms or evidence. And then there's the burn," she started.

    "Burn scar?" Kaishi questioned.

"Hai, the skin isn't damaged, just raised and thickened into the shape of a name."

    "Itachi."

"Hai, how did you know?" the medic asked.

"I just do," Kaishi sighed as she rubbed the bridge of her nose, a habit she'd picked up as she raised Naruto. It usually meant that she was tired and stressed, not that Shizune knew that. "Itachi can sometimes make his victims' body react like what had been done in the mind, actually happened in reality."

    "The Mangekyo..." Shizune gasped.

"Hai, the mangekyo. He must have raped Aoi and branded him in the Realm of the Grasping Moon," Kaishi growled before slamming a wrapped fist into a wall, denting it considerably. "Bastard."

Shizune jumped slightly. She had heard of the kunoichi's anger before, but this was surprising. There were several rumors dancing around the village about the Onibashi's releationship with Uchiha Itachi. Many of those suggested that she was seeing him secretly, the injuries she gained either due to karma for bedding a murderer or from her being a masochist. A popular rumor was that she was a traitor and acting as his spy on Konoha. Another was more romanticized, saying that they were having a love affair, her wounds from Akatsuki members that wanted to keep them a part. Shizune didn't believe any of them.

Kaishi pulled her fist back, her shoulder screaming in raw pain from her wounds and exhaustion. Her teeth gritted together tightly. "Anything else?" she asked, her voice a perfect monotone, it would take someone that knew her intimately to tell the strain in her voice.

Shizune shook her head. "That's all. He's in room 213."

Kaishi nodded and moved towards Aoi's room quietly, her heart heavy with guilt.
