A/N: The big
announcement. Sorry these have been
taking so long… it seems like I’ve lost my zest for a lot of things right
now. I’ll never abandon the stories
though. They just take a little longer
in getting out.
Review Responses:
Msuzumaki: I’m glad you like the story. Thanks for the
review.
The Simi: Thanks for the well wishes. We’re getting jerked around with weather and
it’s making it really hard to get and stay healthy, but we’re better. The donuts and mashed potatoes was a craving
I had with my middle child, but my husband wouldn’t go get them for me. I have something in store for Tama, no
worries, but there are some bumpy roads ahead before that.
Chapter Eleven
A week had passed since the first call had been made to
Naruto. Sasuke thought all things
considered Naruto had been doing a good job with his promise to stay calm and
think of the baby and not just the poor man who couldn’t have his freedom
unless he paid a ransom or Obito captured the sons-of-bitches responsible for
his imprisonment in the first place. He
sighed as Sasuke entered the room. “I’m
nervous, Sas.”
Sasuke smiled as he came around behind Naruto and wrapped his hands around
Naruto’s waist. He kissed his
boyfriend’s neck. “Don’t worry,
baby. I’m going to be there, too.” He let his hands trace the not-yet-existent
bump where his child was held. He pulled
back as he noticed Naruto’s irritation.
“What’s wrong?”
Naruto grabbed at his hair.
“It won’t cooperate. I look
horrible. I just want to say fuck it!” He hid his face in his hands as his emotions
seemed to falter again. His father told
him it was just mood swings from the hormones he’d been injected with, but he
hated feeling this way and not being able to change it.
Sasuke hid his smirk, knowing full well how vulnerable
Naruto was at this point in time, but he really wanted to tease the guy about
his nervous breakdown over hair. “Let me
work on it for you, okay?” Naruto nodded
and Sasuke grabbed some gel and ran his hands through the unruly blonde
locks. He sighed happily. There were few things in the world that
brought him such innocent pleasure as running his hands through Naruto’s hair. He finished forcing the hair to stay put and
moved back behind Naruto. “How’s that?”
Naruto looked in the hotel’s mirror and smiled. His hair looked good now, but he was smiling
at the look of love and concern and longing and pure joy on Sasuke’s face. He turned around and kissed Sasuke
softly. “Much better.”
Sasuke smiled. “Come
on. Your adoring public awaits us.” He pulled Naruto closer to his body and just
held his husband for a few moments. “Are
you ready to do it?”
Naruto nodded. “We
have to do it eventually. If I get the
public involved, maybe they will stop
trying to exploit my condition.” He
smiled. “Plus, I’m really excited about
having our baby. I don’t care if the
band loses popularity. I know Kiba and
Ten-Ten would be able to bounce back very easily and Hinata and I have Uchihas
to take care of us.”
Sasuke chuckled.
“You’re such a dumbass sometimes.” He let go of Naruto and took his
hand. “If you’re ready, I’m ready.”
Sasuke and Naruto had planned to call a press conference to
announce the baby, but the band had been nominated for four Grammy Awards. Yamato thought that would make a better way
to announce to the public. Then it would seem slightly more normal because they
weren’t actually calling attention solely to that fact. It would instead seem like they were out for
a night and by the way Naruto’s pregnant.
Naruto and Sasuke climbed out of the limo together, followed
by the rest of the band. Naruto smiled
when he was stopped by a reporter.
“Naruto, you look wonderful tonight.”
Naruto smiled and pulled Sasuke closer.
“You too, Sasuke.”
Sasuke looked bored like he always did when in the public
eye. “Hn,” he
grunted before pulling Naruto in front of him and wrapping his arms around
Naruto’s body.
Naruto smiled at his husband’s antics. “Thanks, Sasha.” He smiled at the reporter. She was always one of the ones supporting
them, and if he had the chance to hang out with her on the outside he
would. They were both too busy for that
though. “You look good yourself.”
She chuckled. “Yeah, but you are
absolutely glowing. Even your hard-ass
of a husband seems happier today.”
Sasuke smirked. He
liked Sasha. She never sugar coated it
or tried to pussy foot around his emotions.
He nuzzled Naruto’s neck. “Well,
we do have some news that has us pretty excited.” Naruto blushed and pushed back into Sasuke
instinctively. He was craving the warmth
of Sasuke’s body.
Sasha sighed. “You’re
not going to tell me? You’re just going
to say you have exciting news and not announce it?” She stuck her bottom lip out a little and
turned her attention to Naruto. “Come
on, Naruto!” She smiled and sing-songed, “You know you want to tell me.”
Naruto chuckled. “We
can tell you. It’s no secret, and in a
few months, it’ll be really hard to hide.”
He took a deep breath and felt Sasuke’s hold on him tighten just a
bit. “We’re going to be having a baby.”
Sasha beamed. “Oh
that will be fantastic! Who’s the
mother?”
Sasuke chuckled softly, so only Naruto could hear. He kissed Naruto’s neck. “That would be Naruto.” When he saw the obviously confused look on
her face he continued. “There is a
doctor in Tokyo that’s been working on a method that allows gays to have
children together. In the case of gay
men, he gets a blank egg and adds one man’s DNA and then uses the other’s sperm
to fertilize it.”
Sasha blinked a few times before laughing. “You’re pulling my leg. You guys had this joke all worked out before
you got here.”
Sasuke shook his head and pulled Naruto’s shirt up just a bit. The scar from the incision was still
visible. He ran his fingers lightly over
the scar and Naruto giggled. Naruto
smiled before answering, “It’s a new procedure.
You can check it out online.
Seriously though, I’m 5 weeks pregnant right now.”
Sasha looked surprised for a moment more before grabbing
Naruto and Sasuke and squeezing hard.
She squealed before regaining her composure and turning back to the
cameraman. “That’s right, folks. You heard it on MTV first. Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are having a
baby. Can you think of anything hotter
than a mini-me of these two beautiful men running around?”
Sasuke smiled as he pulled Naruto’s shirt back down and
kissed him softly. “Tell you what,
Sasha.” He leaned over and whispered in
her ear that he’ll be giving her the exclusive right to cover the birth. She seemed to be glowing as much as Naruto. Sasha waved at them as they moved down the
red carpet. There were other networks
that interviewed them, and they told all of them their good news. Only VH1 decided they were done with the
interview and told them they were sick.
Naruto was sitting next to Sasuke watching the show when his
cell phone rang. He saw it was Obito and
handed it over to Sasuke. “I’d take it,
but our next category is up next.”
Sasuke nodded and stood, kissing Naruto on the temple before leaving to
take the call.
He walked to the bathroom before answering the phone. “Sorry, uncle.
Naruto’s next category is next and he couldn’t take the call.”
“It’s okay, Sasuke. I wanted to talk to you anyway, but your
phone wasn’t on.” Obito sighed; the news
he had wasn’t good. “Are you somewhere
Naruto can’t hear you?”
“Yeah, this isn’t a good call is it?” Sasuke propped himself against the wall in
case the news shocked him too much and he couldn’t support his weight.
Obito sighed. “No, Sasuke, it isn’t. Deidara found out some information and
relayed it to me, but he’s disappeared.
Last time I talked to him he said something about going into hiding
because they’d caught onto him. Now I
haven’t talked with Dei in 2 days.”
Sasuke gasped. He was
scared for Deidara and worried about what Naruto would say when he learned of
this turn of events. “Is he?” Sasuke
couldn’t bring himself to finish the question.
Obito was frowning; Sasuke could hear it in his voice when
he spoke. “I doubt it. I don’t think they’ve got him either, but
they are close. Kisame and I are at the
airport to head back to Japan. We’ve got
the money for the ransom to give Minato just in case that’s the only way we can
get Zetsu free. Sasuke, this is a bad
situation. I’m sure I don’t need to tell
you that.”
Sasuke nodded and wondered when he had actually slid down
the wall. “I’m not telling Naruto until
we’re back home.”
He sighed. “Be careful,
Uncle. Please make sure you have enough
people with you.”
“Of course, Sasuke.” Sasuke sighed and ran a shaky hand through
his hair. If things were bad enough that
Deidara ended up underground they were pretty bad. Sasuke stood up and looked in the mirror
before splashing some water on his face.
He patted it dry with some paper towels before heading back to the
table.
Sasuke sat down next to Naruto. “Did I miss another win?”
Naruto smiled and shook his head. “I guess there was a break. What did Obito say?”
Sasuke shrugged. “I’ll tell you about it
later. They’re starting the category
now.” Sasuke said a silent prayer to all
gods in all religions that the ceremony began moving on. He made it through the night without having
to reveal the conversation to Naruto.
The band won all four of their categories, and Sasuke sighed. He knew this would make Kiba’s head bigger
than it already was. So even though he
was happy for the band, he played it down.
Naruto fell asleep in the ride back to their hotel. Sasuke helped him get comfortable before
running his hands through the blond locks.
He knew Naruto well enough to know he was out and would miss what he was
about to tell the band. He took a deep
breath and looked at Hinata, who was sans Itachi and Baki for this trip. “Dei’s in trouble.”
Hinata gasped.
“What? How?”
Sasuke shook his head.
“He’s gone underground and Obito hasn’t heard from him in two
days.” He let his hand continue stroking
Naruto’s hair. The action was as calming for him as it was for Naruto. “Obi and Kisame are headed out to Tokyo to
find him and track down these assholes, but I don’t want to tell Naruto.”
Kiba sighed. “You
have to, dude. He’s
gonna flip though.”
He growled and clenched his fists.
“I hope your uncle kills them.
They so deserve it for everything they’ve put him though,” he motioned
to Naruto while he was speaking.
Sasuke nodded and absent-mindedly leaned down to kiss
Naruto’s temple. “I’ll tell him in the
morning when he’s more rested.”
Ten-Ten who had been quiet thus
far, looked up with tears in her eyes.
“If anything happens to Dei, or anyone, I’m going to have to kill
them. Don’t think that I won’t.”
Sasuke chuckled softly but nodded. “I know.
I know.”
Hinata lightly hugged Sasuke. “I know you’re being strong for him, but let
it out when you need to, okay?”
Sasuke smiled. “I
promise, Hinata.” He stopped moving his
hand through Naruto’s hair and gently rubbed his cheek. “Wake up, Nar. We’re here baby.”
Naruto slowly sat up and rubbed at his sleep addled blue
eyes. “Mmm,”
Naruto stretched. “I’m so tired. I didn’t think we would be out so late.”
Sasuke laughed softly. “It was just all
that excitement from winning.” He kissed
Naruto softly. “Let’s get up to the
room, huh?”
Naruto nodded and let Sasuke cuddle him all the way through the lobby, up the
elevator, and into the room. He wouldn’t
tell Sasuke that he became more snuggly when something was bothering him, but
Naruto knew there was a conversation in their future tonight. When the door closed behind them, Naruto
sighed and followed Sasuke through their bedtime routine. When they were both comfortably snuggled into
bed Naruto wrapped his arms around Sasuke’s waist and whispered, “What aren’t
you telling me?”
Sasuke sighed and had to force his tears to stay at bay. It took him almost a minute before he could
speak without having his voice waiver. “I
don’t want to say it. It’s really bad,
and I don’t want you to get upset.”
Naruto frowned. “I
assume since you’ve told me this much you will be telling me the rest?” He sat
up and pulled Sasuke up beside him.
Sasuke nodded and turned watery eyes toward Naruto. “It’s about Obito’s call. He and Kisame are heading to Tokyo to try to
find Deidara. He told Obi he had to go
underground, and it’s been 2 days since he was heard from.”
Naruto couldn’t hold back his sobs. “I should have fought harder to keep them
from looking for those jackasses. I
should have done something.” He buried
his face in Sasuke’s chest and let himself be held until he couldn’t cry any
more. “I’m sorry, Sasuke.”
Sasuke shook his head and tightened his grip on Naruto. “I love you, Nar. You need to know that this is not your
fault. Deidara decided to do this, and
you can’t help that the two of us seem to draw in psychos.” He let his hand rub across Naruto’s
belly. “There’s one thing we’ve done
right though.”
Naruto sighed and nodded and forced himself to relax as he
and Sasuke laid back down in the bed. “What about Zetsu? Did Deidara have any information before he?” It was too
painful to finish the statement.
Sasuke nodded. “Some. Don’t worry, Naruto. My family will take care of this situation.”
Naruto shook his head. “I was going to surprise you with it
at dinner tomorrow, but I think we need it now.
The state called me this afternoon to approve the marriage. It’s just an exception for us, but I guess it’s
a step in the right direction for others.”
Sasuke let the tears fall as he got happy news in such a
shitty situation. “I love you more than
life.”
