"No. It doesn't." Iruka took a deep breath and swallowed hard, wiping again at his tears.
Kakashi watched the play of emotions on Iruka's face and found himself feeling very helpless. He knew there was more to it than what he was saying, but he didn't know what it was. And until he did, he couldn't fight it.
"Iruka, is that really the problem? Is that really what you're worried about?" This was from Yamato and Kakashi was grateful that he was the one to ask.
Iruka didn't answer at first, then shook his head. "I fell in love with ninja." He looked up first at Kakashi, then at Yamato before turning his gaze back to the statue he still held. "Two of them. Someday, you're going to go on a mission and you won't come back. If I'm lucky, they'll bring something back to bury. Either way, I'll have more names to stare at on the memorial."
Kakashi closed his own eyes, then. How many hours had he spent in front of it? How many times had he thought those same things? How many ways had he blamed himself for the names he visited?
"Iruka, are you happy now?" Both Kakashi and Iruka opened their eyes and looked at Yamato. The question took them both by surprise.
Iruka frowned. "I…don't know what you mean."
"Are you happy being alone? When you're not with us?" Yamato asked.
Iruka shook his head. "Of course not."
"We're going to die someday. We all are. I'm going to lose both of you, Kakashi's going to lose both of us. If we're really, really lucky, it'll happen in one of two ways. Either we'll all go at the same time in some massive attack or we'll be really old and sick of each other." Yamato paused to consider his words. "But in the mean time, there is the potential for us to have a lot of years together. We won't be happy apart."
The teacher looked down once more at the statue. Years. Years of sitting quietly and grading papers or reading. Years of trying to kick them out of the kitchen as they worked to distract him. Years of comfort when the grief came back. Years of love and companionship.
He'd already tried to be alone. He'd already shied away from what he wanted. And where had it gotten him?
He carefully set what was now his most prized possession onto the coffee table. He took a deep breath and looked first at Yamato, then at Kakashi. "I don't want to be alone anymore."
"Stop fidgeting." Kakashi said, glaring at the man next to him.
"I will if you will." He answered, tugging at his collar and pushing his hair back again.
"Will you two settle down?" The third man said, straightening his tie a little more.
"I am not fidgeting." Kakashi said, scratching at his bare face.
The second man snorted. "Right." Then he rubbed at the scar across his nose.
Yamato sighed. "We don't have to do this, you know."
Both of the other men glared at him. "Are you backing out?" The teacher asked.
Yamato held his hands up. "No! No."
"It was your idea, after all." Kakashi said, grimacing. He pulled at his collar again, wishing for the twelfth time that day that he hadn't put the tie on.
"No it wasn't," Yamato protested.
"Yes it was. I vividly remember you suggesting it." Iruka said, fidgeting this time for real.
"That's your favorite word, isn't it?" Yamato asked.
"No, my favorite word is 'trust.' Damn. One of you scratch my back, the scar is itching." He grumbled.
"If you hadn't insisted on a brand new shirt, it wouldn't irritate you so much." Kakashi said, helpfully.
"Thanks. You're so helpful. I didn't have anything else. You ruined my last dress shirt, remember?" Iruka glared at the copy nin.
"Oh, right." Kakashi cleared his throat and scratched at the back of his head.
Yamato reached under Iruka's suit coat to scratch at his back. "Oh God, that feels so good," the younger man moaned.
"Don't… talk like that right now. We have several hours before we can be alone again." Kakashi grumbled.
"Sorry," Iruka mumbled.
"Here she comes." Yamato muttered.
Tsunade stepped up to them, then and stared at the three of them. "Dear God, I think the world is ending. Did anyone get a picture of this?" She asked of no one in particular.
The three men glanced at each other. "That wasn't on the piece of paper." Kakashi pointed out with a scowl.
"Ha. ha. Are you ready?" She asked.
They each looked at each other one more time before nodding. "Yes, Lady Hokage, we are." Kakashi said for them.
Kakashi let his eyes travel over the bar. It was packed with people, all of whom had come, supposedly, to offer congratulations and support in their decision. "I don't think I know half of these people," he said to the men next to him.
"Neither do I," Yamato said and sipped his drink.
"I can probably give you names, but that's about it on most of them. And that's only because everyone goes to the mission desk at some point or another. How did they all end up here?" Iruka took a drink out of his own bottle.
"I was just trying to figure that out." Kakashi sighed. "How long before we can reasonably bow out?"
"Well, it's not like it's a traditional reception or anything." Yamato said, "I don't think there are any rules."
"We're only on our first drinks, though. I think we're supposed to at least talk to a few people," Iruka said. "For the record, I could have skipped the whole thing and gone straight to the hot spring."
Kakashi grinned. "That's because you're the biggest hentai of all of us."
"I am not," the teacher said.
Yamato snorted. "Yes, you are. Your toy collection was twice the size of ours."
Iruka blushed. "That's only because I didn't have anything live at the time."
Kakashi conceded the point. "That would make a difference."
"I wish I'd thrown the whole damn thing away before I moved in with you. Though, to be fair, I didn't really have much chance." He frowned. "If I hadn't had to work that day, you would have moved me the day after my last nightmare."
"We tried, but you threatened us with gate duty for a year if we did," Yamato said.
"I wish we'd known then that he couldn't follow through on it," Kakashi grumbled.
"I might have found a way." Iruka sighed. "Well, maybe we should, you know, go talk to a few people so we can make our escape."
Yamato leaned in to him. "You just can't wait to get us alone so that you can fuck our brains out."
"Six months. You've been doing things like that to me for six months and I still react to it." The younger man turned around to readjust himself and glared at his husband. "I will get retribution for it, too."
Yamato gulped.
Iruka's grin spread slowly and leaned over to whisper into the other man's ear. "I'm going to tie you down. I'm going to tease and torment you… all of you. Every single inch of skin, every bit of your body, including your nipples, your sexy ass, your balls and your cock with my hands… and my lips… and my tongue… until you are begging for your orgasm. Then, after I let you calm down a little, I'm going to suck on that cock, lick that cock and swallow that cock until you can't see straight. And maybe, maybe if you're lucky or very, very good, I will then fill your ass with my hard cock and fuck you until you come, screaming from the intensity of your orgasm."
Yamato's face drained completely of color. He glanced at Kakashi who held his hands up. "I don't know what he threatened you with, but I'm not getting in the way of it. You remember the last time he got back at me?"
He did, in fact, remember very, very well. He'd bound and gagged Kakashi. He'd put clamps on his nipples and a cock ring on him to keep him from coming too soon. He'd then aroused him beyond reason mostly with that very talented mouth of his, then proceeded to spank him until the copy nin's ass was bright red and his cock was so hard, it was nearly purple. He'd tormented him for close to two hours in a large and creative variety of ways before giving in, untying him and finally allowing him to take the younger man. All three of them had lasted approximately ten seconds after that.
Yamato had watched the whole thing and swore up and down he'd never get on Iruka's bad side again. So much for that conviction.
It took them close to two hours before they could get away. They lost count of the number of people that had congratulated them, wanted to talk to them or shake hands. There were a few who insisted on dancing with one of the three of them. And then there were the inevitable questions.
"Who was the idiot who asked which one of us was the wife?" Kakashi asked, nearly storming across the room.
" 'Kashi, calm down. It was Izumo. He's drunk." Iruka said, putting his hand on the copy nin's sleeve. He frowned. "And apparently jealous."
That stopped him. "Jealous?"
"Yes. It turns out that he was trying to make me jealous when I walked in on him with that woman." Iruka paused. "He already knew things weren't going well and thought it would fix them."
"He's an idiot," Kakashi said, blinking at Iruka. "A complete fucking moron."
"Yes, he is. But that's why. He's just angry and jealous. So, try not to kill him. It would be really bad to spend our married life via conjugal visits at the prison."
Kakashi pouted. "Fine. What about a chidori? Just a small one?"
Iruka just stared at him. "Not the teacher face. Please," Kakashi said.
He was saved by Yamato, who joined them at that moment. "Why is our husband giving you the teacher face?"
"Because I threatened to kill Izumo."
"… Why?" Yamato asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Because he asked which one of the three of us is the wife."
"Oh." Yamato turned around to see Izumo sitting miserably in a corner booth with Raido and Kotetsu. " 'Kashi, I think he's bad enough off. Leave the poor man alone." He turned back. "Besides, I really don't want to try to visit you in prison."
Kakashi sighed. "That's what he said," pointing at Iruka. "It's not fair when you gang up on me."
"You know, we've been together for six months now, you'd think you would be used to it." Iruka said.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow. "You're not the only one that can get retribution, sensei." Kakashi said, moving closer. He leaned in to Iruka's ear. "I can torture you just as well as you torture me. I know exactly how to draw it out to keep you on edge for a very. Long. Time. Hours, even. I know every single spot that will make you crazy. And I'll use them. Torment them, over and over and over again until you're so sensitive that the lightest breath would make you come. But I won't let you, no. Because you'll have that ring that you love so much around your cock instead of mine. And you know that our dear husband will help me, don't you?" This, of course, was answered with nothing more than a whimper. "You'll be begging to come, my dear. And I won't let you."
Iruka gulped and glanced at Yamato who held his hands up. "I don't want to know."
It was nearly midnight before they collapsed on the bed in their room at the springs. "Who's idea was that, again?" Iruka asked the ceiling.
"Yama's." Kakashi said, groaning. "I don't get why I'm so tired. We didn't do all that much."
"Emotional. It took a lot of energy to keep from killing people." Iruka rolled over to look down into his husband's face. "But you did very well," he said and dropped a kiss on the copy nin's lips. He reached up to brush a bit of silver hair out of his face and his eye caught the ring on his finger.
He paused to look at it for a moment. It was very basic, nothing special but it didn't need to be. They talked about doing something more individualized, but if either of them got caught on a mission, the fact that they were married was more than enough information to possibly give an enemy. He told them they didn't have to wear it when they were out, but thus far they were adamant that they would. Either way, a plain gold band doesn't tell an enemy much.
"I know, still kind of weird to see it, isn't it?" Kakashi asked, looking at his own band.
"Yeah. But… good, too. It was a good idea." Iruka said, then looked back down at his husband.
"His usually are. Just don't tell him that." Kakashi grinned.
"I heard that." Yamato called. He stepped out of the bathroom and joined them on the bed. "Thank you." He kissed each of them. "Now, this is our honeymoon, right?" At their nods, he asked, "so why are you both still dressed?"
Iruka and Kakashi would both end up replacing their dress shirts, this time. Somehow, neither of them minded one bit.
