I felt like writing. So I did. And I whipped this up. Will upload what I have now, and I plan to add at least one smut filled chapter. BUt it's going to take a while before we get there.
The mission was brutal. Harsh, cold and cloth tearing. It’s why Kakashi jumps into the Hokage’s office with his clothes barely clinging to his body. The skin on his left arm is scratches and yes, there is a bruise on his torso, but he will not show it to her. Showing her his pain, showing her his flaws, that is not something he wants to do.
She notices, off course. She always does. But tonight, the mission, the contents and the goal, is more important that her need for his safety.
At least, that is his guess. For she doesn’t question him once about his body, wounds or fails. She listens to his report, looks at him, from head to toe and back, and, with the simple wave of her hand, she dismisses him.
He is out of the room before she can change her mind around. Before she has the chance to call him back and examine him. No, he is out, and gone, for he has rounds to make and people to look at.
His mission took about six months in harsh conditions. It was worth it, it always is, but when he is gone, his people are left to look after themselves. People like Gai, his first stop. The green cladded man is sleeping peacefully. How he does it, Kakashi doesn’t know. For next to his rival, lies Anko. A mad woman. Who likes snakes and a lot of sweet. Well, Gai knows how to handle strong people, so it’s probably a good match. As for the sweetness, Kakashi knows the man is sweet so that must be the reason why Anko likes Gai.
It all looks good there, so onto the next place. His students. Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke. They are all inside their own places, all asleep. Like the should be. He is proud of them, of their accomplishments and their hard work. He won’t admit this out loud, but sometimes he whispers it. Like now, outside each window. He whispers it with a soft, fond smile on his face.
And there he goes, onto the next place. The teacher, Umino Iruka. Oh, they had a fight, long ago, when he first got his pupils, when he first started teaching. But there is something feisty, something captivating about the young man. With his hair pulled back, that scar across his nose and that fire in his eyes.
If Kakashi was forced to tell the truth, he would have to admit that he would love to come home to that man. To eat his home cooked meal, to be by his side and to comb that hair. And to do even more stuff, but that is taking it to far. If he keeps thinking about it, he will really turn into a pervert. But all he has is his books and his thoughts. And no, he will not act on them when he is next to Iruka’s window.
And, that brings him to the last place he wants to visit, before turning to his own home, his own comfort. Because there is another, strong willed person, he longs to see. A person he, if he was forced to admit it, longs to care for. Sometimes he let’s his mind wander, and he things about how things could be. If he lived at the Hatake’s grounds, with the two people he likes most, with his pupils visiting him and where his dogs could freely wander.
It’s a fantasy, one he is not willing to admit.
And so, he lands on a roof with view right into Morino Ibiki’s apartment. He is as silent as a bug, with keen eyes like a bat. He waits, narrows his eyes and frowns. For the rooms are empty, all of them. There is not a person in the bedroom, nor in the bathroom.
Panic rises in Kakashi’s chest. Also a thing he doesn’t want to admit, but it does, right now. He contains his breathing, using techniques like he would use on a mission. It doesn’t help. His mind supplies a lot of thoughts, which are equally unhelpful. For what if the Interrogator was injured on his job? Or worse, killed? For, what if the man was caught, by evil Shinobi from outside the village? If the man is tortured?
Kakashi shakes his head, trying to force the thoughts out, away, to be silent. It doesn’t work. The only thing that it does is making his hair even more tussled. He can’t think about it. He should head home, head to bed, to sleep. He should not think about all the possibilities that could happen and all the things that he is afraid of.
“Need medical attention?”
A warm, deep voice pulls him out of his mind, forces him to look up.
The face in front of him eases his thoughts. It’s a face adorned in scars, with a soft though serious expression.
“Morino,” Kakashi says with a nod. He straightens his back and clears his throat.
“Hatake,” Ibiki replies. The frown that was present disappears. Makes room for a light smile. At least, there is a tug at Ibiki’s lips and Kakashi wonders how soft they are.
“Come inside,” Ibiki says. He jumps down, onto his balcony. “I’ve got ointment, bandages and stuff.” He opens his door and walks in.
Kakashi hesitates. Not because he doesn’t want to follow the man. He wants to follow the man. But he doesn’t need medical attention. And he doesn’t want to take Ibiki’s time. The man should probably rest. Or something. Anything, really, at least, not caring for a broken Copy nin. Who is not broken. Barely wounded.
But Kakashi’s feet betray him, and he hops down. Onto the balcony. Through the door, which he closes behind his back.
