Author's note: So kind of a frustrating week, people pissing me off, so what do I do? I write another medieval themed fic, because why not? This is basically self-indulgent as fuck and will be a two-shot because my self-esteem needs a boost and I'm trying something newish here, so I want to hear your opinion about this. Also this was growing way too long so I'm keeping the juicy bits for the next part - if there's enough interest at least.
Warnings: Dual pov, first starting with Danzo's; medievalish setting; slash; Omega Naruto; implicit threats of rape (not between Sasuke and Naruto); attempted forced bonding; Danzo is an arsehole, but what else is new?; violence; blood; character deaths
I hope you'll enjoy the first part!
Part 1
Omega were incredibly valuable.
Incredibly valuable yet utterly worthless at the same time. They were valuable because of their rarity, for their ability to bear children in spite of being male. Worthless because for all that the stories talked about how amazing sharing an Omega's heat could be, they couldn't be put to work as whores either, being bound to the first person who took them. When taken away from this person, they would wither away and die like the pathetic creatures they actually were.
Still, their rarity made them the most sought after beings in the entire world. The biggest villages and the smallest towns always eagerly awaited a new birth, praying that this one would be an Omega, so that they could sell them to the highest bidder if the need ever arose. Having an Omega in your midst was like sitting on a giant pile of gold: fame, glory and richness would be yours if you could get your hands on an Omega – either for yourself or to give them to someone when you were in need of a huge favour.
Konoha was a town hidden deep within a forest, close to one of the biggest lakes in the country. Their location saw the inhabitants rather far removed from the other towns and villages; the nearest town still took four days of travelling to reach it. Fortunately, the gods were merciful and the town was quite self-sufficient, able to provide most goods and food themselves. What they couldn't make or create on their own would be bought in one of the towns on the other end of the forest, traded for with their goods.
Not only were they amongst the most self-sufficient towns to exist, they also had the incredible fortune to be in possession of an Omega.
He was a blond boy with eyes as blue as the summer sky and a body so lean and slim one wondered how he was able to keep upright during the harsh storms of autumn and winter. His Omega-hood had been discovered by the town's leader Danzo, back when the boy had been four years old.
The previous leader, Sarutobi, had died after a long battle against the fever and Danzo had been on his way home after paying his last respects when he'd passed a small house, barely more than a cottage near the southern border of the town. It being the height of summer everyone had taken to seeking out ways to cool themselves down. Such had been the case for the Uzumaki-Namikaze family. The wife, Uzumaki Kushina, had been chasing her only son around, trying to get him to stand still so she could wipe his face clean. The boy had been running around, laughing madly, in just a pair of thin trousers, leaving his small chest bare and vulnerable to the stinging hot sun.
It was then that Danzo had seen it: the Omega Seal as scholars had come to call it. The Omega Seal was most similar to a brand on one's skin, but a brand they were born with. It could be found anywhere on the body: on the forehead, the arm, the shoulders, the back, the legs, the belly … They were always rather intricate designs somehow, impossible to be mistaken for birth marks. And the little blond boy was in possession of such a Seal: a spiral around his bellybutton, a faint red as if it had been inked upon his skin.
A month after Danzo had made the discovery, both the Omega's parents died an unexpected death. Somehow they had ingested poison and while there had been an investigation, trying to find out how on earth the poisoning had occurred when both Kushina and Minato knew their way around plants, unlikely to ingest anything that might show even the slightest hint of toxic traits, nothing worthwhile had been uncovered. It must sadly have been just pure bad luck.
That bad luck led to the Omega boy being orphaned at the tender age of four years and Danzo had taken over the guardianship as was the rule for every child who found themselves orphaned. He didn't act like his parent, because he had no interest in that, but he saw to it that the boy was taken care of, that he wouldn't join his parents in the afterlife.
There was just enough money provided to buy food for the boy, because schooling was unnecessary. An Omega had no need to learn how to read or write or work on the complexity that was mathematics. Why would they? They were valuable for who they were, not for what they were capable of doing.
So he allowed the boy to run wild while other children his age attended the local school. As long as the boy was back in his house by the time night fell, it did not matter one wit to Danzo what the boy was doing. As the boy grew older, however, Danzo did send an occasional guard to check up on the Omega should he find himself outside the borders of the town.
An Omega reached maturity when they were seventeen; that was the year they would have their first heat, the one indicating they were ready to be bound and bear children. Danzo was a well read man, so he knew how important it was for a town to have an Omega. Konoha was self-sufficient, capable of taking care of everyone, so there was no need to find an Alpha outside Konoha. If they looked for a person in one of the other towns, that would mean having to relinquish their Omega and Danzo was not a fool.
While worthless because they could only bound with one person, Omega still offered a lot of prestige to the village or town possessing them. Danzo would be a fool to hand over that much prestige to another town and a fool he was not. Thus, he had already sought out a worthy partner for the Omega once he reached maturity: a man named Yakushi Kabuto.
While still fairly young, Yakushi had had the honour of studying underneath several grand masters of the medical and mathematical arts, making him a very intelligent man and a great asset to have in the village. In exchange for remaining here and solely using his services for Konoha, Danzo had promised him the Omega once he fully matured. Danzo dared anyone to find a more perfect agreement than the one the two men shared: Yakushi would have the prestige and fame of having an Omega as his partner and Konoha was ensured of having the best medical professional in the entire country.
Self-sufficient and blessed by the gods: truly there was no better place to live in than Konoha.
"They're getting closer, my lord," one of the guards said tersely; his voice barely above a whisper even though the howling autumn wind outside ensured that nobody could overhear the conversation.
"How much closer?" Danzo inquired coolly, staring at the map fully uncovered on the table in front of him.
"They've already raided Iwagakure and the latest reports situate them near the borders of Amegakure," the guard answered and pressed his lips tightly together as he rested his finger on the latest reported location of the barbarians on the map. "If they intend on continuing their path without any deviation, then I fear they will be here in less than a fortnight – if that even."
"You suspect they will be here sooner?" Danzo narrowed his eyes, bending closer to the map. Given the distance between Amegakure and Konoha that seemed almost impossible, but …
"Barbaric they might be, my lord, but they are highly organised and none of the villages and towns they've raided were able to put up much of a fight," the guard said troubled and rubbed his forehead. "They seem to tear through everything as if it was mere wet paper and nobody so far has been able to stop them."
"Do we know whether they're after something in specific?"
The second guard piped up this time, grimacing, "All sorts of valuables they can get their grubby hands on, my lord. None of us have been able to uncover yet how much truth is behind the rumours, but survivors speak of them looking for Omega as well."
"Of course they do," Danzo murmured distastefully and turned away from the map. Linking his hands behind his back, he walked to the window and stared outside, watching the outlines of the trees swaying back and forth underneath the pressure of the wind.
The barbarians were a clan who called themselves Uchiha. Inhabiting a deserted, lawless land somewhere in the north, not much was known about them save for their utter brutality as they raided and pillaged village after village, town after town. Rumours said they were descendants of royal blood, the indication of that being that most of them were born as an Alpha – that amount of Alpha in one clan had never been seen before, aiding to the rumours that they had to be of royal blood.
Instead of capitalising on that supposed royal blood, however, they seemed to take pleasure in expanding their territory in the most brutal of ways: many a town had been left behind charred and destroyed after they had passed through.
Their country wasn't a stranger to clans seeking to expand their territory, of course. Violence and greed came as natural to some of these people as breathing. But the ferociousness of this particular clan, the absolute brutality and savagery was on a scale completely unwitnessed before. When faced with these absolute savages a town had but two choices: comply or be devoured. Many ended up unwillingly chosen the latter as they tried to defend themselves.
In a way Danzo had to admire these filthy barbarians: savage beings as they were, clearly they were calculating as well, combining smarts and power to absolutely eradicate entire villages. If only they would offer themselves as an army, they were sure to earn a lot of riches that way.
Alas, they had chosen to be barbarians – and now they were getting dangerously close to Konoha.
"Has there been any indication that they know where our village is located?" Danzo questioned, turning back to the guards.
Fortunately for the general safety Danzo had convinced his predecessor years ago that revealing their exact location would not be in their best interests and so none of the other towns knew where Konoha could be found. No stranger came ever around these parts; the village built too remote to be discovered.
If the gods' luck still held, then those Uchiha barbarians would simply overlook them and go straight for the next town.
The two guards looked at each other. "None so far," the first one admitted. "They seem hell bent on pillaging Amegakure for now."
"Then we will place breadcrumbs for them to lead them straight to the next town," Danzo smiled thinly. "We wouldn't want them to make a detour for nothing, after all. See to it that rumours about the many richness in the caves of Otogakure reach them on time."
"Certainly, my lord." The two guards bowed before leaving.
Which left only one remaining guard.
Danzo turned towards the black haired man and lifted an eyebrow. "Do you have anything in specific to report?" he asked calmly, taking care to roll up the map carefully.
"The Omega has been requesting more pillows and blankets since three days," Sai answered flatly; his black eyes eerily blank in the flickering flames in the fireplace. "Not because of the chillness in the air, for he seems rather fussy about how they are placed."
Danzo nodded slowly. "That makes sense, considering his seventeenth birthday is approaching fast. Thank you for your report, Sai. Inform me immediately once he stays holed up in his room."
Once the Omega would no longer leave his house, that would be the sign that his heat was about to break through. Once it did, Danzo had a room prepared for him. He would have to inform Yakushi of the impending heat of his Omega soon, so that the man could be prepared as well.
The sooner the Omega was bound, the quicker Danzo could shed at least one concern.
The first stirrings of the Omega's heat broke through on his birthday.
He hadn't been spotted outside his house for two days; out of behaviour character for a boy who was constantly wandering around in the woods before, come rain or sunshine. Danzo had him taken out of his room and brought straight to the room he had set up in preparation, ignoring the Omega's furious and panicked screaming all the way there. His heat wasn't completely broken through yet, as evidenced by his lucidity still, but no matter. This way the little minx couldn't try to barricade himself in his own room or gods forbid, try to run away.
Annoyingly his screaming had attracted the attention of some concerned villagers, who came out of their houses, questioning why the boy was yelling so loudly. Danzo spent some time placating them, ensuring that everything was all right; the boy was just distraught after a horrible nightmare, some rest elsewhere would do him well, doctor's orders.
"Better make yourself comfortable, because the next upcoming days are going to be taxing for you," Danzo informed the outraged Omega before he locked the door, paying no heed to the loud thud which followed right after and which had the door shaking in its frame.
Honestly, such uncouth behaviour. This was his thanks after he had made sure that the boy wouldn't starve to death? He didn't act any better than those Uchiha barbarians right now. Hopefully Yakushi would instil some good manners in that brat once he bound him to him.
"How long has he been quiet?" Yakushi inquired, his eyes glinting when he leant slightly back in his chair, tilting his head towards the room to listen.
Koharu sipped from her tea. "A couple of hours so far," she answered serenely. "When I checked on him four hours ago he was already calming down."
As Danzo's wife she'd helped him put together the room, ensuring that there would be enough food and water stocked in order for Yakushi to spend the Omega's heat uninterrupted.
"His heat should fully break through any moment now," Danzo added, drinking from his own tea; revelling in the warmth it sent through him. There was nothing better than a hot cup of tea while Mother Nature was raging outside.
Yakushi smirked. "So he's finally ready for me?"
"He's all yours," Danzo smiled and waved at the door. "Take that door, at the end of the hallway you'll find his room. Do not forget our agreement, Yakushi-san."
"Of course not, Danzo-sama," Yakushi smiled and rose up. "How could I forget when you and this town have been so generous to me? I wish you and your lady a very good night."
"Have a fruitful union," Koharu murmured.
Yakushi had only just opened the door to the hallway when a fearful scream cut through the air, cleaving through the sound of the rain. The silence which followed felt somehow forbidden, full of tension, and Danzo frowned, standing up.
"You go on. I will go see what is happening," he assured the younger man.
Yakushi looked doubtful for just a couple of seconds, but then inclined his head and slipped through the door, closing it gently behind him.
"You think it's that Yamanaka girl again? She's been having more and more fits lately," Koharu mentioned idly, but her eyes were sharp as she watched her husband pull on his cloak. "I told her parents they might have to consider sending her away. Konoha can't do anything with that girl in the state she is."
"Perhaps," Danzo said, "I will go see. If it is indeed that girl again, I will talk with her parents."
If that girl was indeed having more and more fits, she would have to be sent away. It would be a shame, for she was quite a beauty and would be a good match someday, but they couldn't do anything with a hysterical woman.
"In the meantime would you mind preparing another pot of tea, my dear?" he questioned and opened the door.
Coming face to face with burning black eyes and a devilish smile.
"A pot of tea sounds lovely, but I'm afraid I have to decline," the dark haired man taunted and raised his katana.
Danzo could only stand there frozen as more and more screams started to fill the air, drowning out the rain and the thunder. Everywhere he looked more and more men dressed in black with blood red cloaks poured into the village from all sides, laughing as they galloped around on their horses, cutting down one Konoha soldier after another when they rushed forwards to defend the village. A house belonging to one of the guards, sheltered by trees, abruptly went up in flames; the fire roaring as it battled with the rain, tearing down wood and stone while the guard stumbled screaming outside.
A dagger struck Sai's heart before he could even take more than five steps, leaving him to crumble down to the ground where horses ran straight over him; his lifeless body flopping around underneath the force of their hooves.
Women and children screamed in terror as they ran away, trying to find shelter in the trees before the ruthless men could capture them. Man after man was slain, daggers and katana and massive axes swinging around; their blades flashing silver in the pale moonlight.
The Uchiha clan had found them.
"H-how is this possible?" Danzo asked numbly, staggering backwards when the sharp tip of the katana pressed into his chest.
The man – perhaps the leader? Why else would he be the one to go straight after the village leader? – stepped inside and was flanked by three people. Two of them wore hoods, covering their faces, though the broad shoulders and imposing figure of the one on the right clearly indicated he was not a man to be trifled with. The third one was also a man with lanky white hair and glistening purple eyes, whose teeth were as sharp as the most monstrous fishes of the sea when he grinned. He carried around a humongous sword; the blade almost as tall as him.
"How rude of me not to introduce myself," the black haired man smirked; the muscles of his arm flexing when he raised his katana a bit higher. "Name is Uchiha Sasuke, pleasure to make your acquaintance. Is it safe to presume that you are Shimura Danzo, leader of this wretched village?"
"If there is anyone wretched here, it's the likes of you and your gang," Danzo spoke scornfully, his hand slowly gripping his cain tighter. He'd hidden a knife in there; he would have to await the opportune moment to strike. "How did you find this village?"
It shouldn't be possible. Nobody had ever known where Konoha was located so how had this gang of barbarians figured it out? By pure coincidence? No, it couldn't be. The sheer amount of barbarians running amok in his village indicated that this was a planned and fully coordinated attack. This wasn't just an attack decided upon by mere happenstance of encountering the village.
"Ah yes, the hidden leaf village as they refer to this town," Uchiha smiled mockingly. "Not so hidden in the end after all."
"That doesn't answer my - "
Danzo choked when the white haired man suddenly shot forwards, slamming the flat side of the sword into his stomach with full force. Pain exploded immediately and Danzo couldn't do anything but curl up, falling onto the floor and losing his grip on his cane.
The smallest hooded person picked up his cane to his horror and twisted on the metal knob. A whistled accompanied the sliding out of the knife.
"Looks like the old man had some nice tricks up his sleeve," the hooded person snickered.
Was that a woman? Such a high pitched voice couldn't belong to a man, but how could a woman ever be part of a ruthless barbaric gang like this one?
"I'd love to take my time with you, but I've got matters to take care of elsewhere," Uchiha said bored and started to make his way to the door leading to the Omega's room.
"Where do you think you're going, you filthy – "
Danzo cried out in shock when his wife was abruptly slammed to the floor by the tall man.
"As I said, I've got matters to take care of. As in a certain Omega; you're keeping him here, don't you?" Uchiha asked, still smirking as he sheathed his katana.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Danzo bit out. There was no way Uchiha knew that the Omega was being kept here. He couldn't know. "We've never had an Omega in this town."
"Now that's a lie and I do not like lying people," Uchiha said lightly.
The next second, hot searing pain exploded in Danzo's thigh and he nearly bit off his own tongue when he cut off his scream, watching in horror at the knife firmly embedded in his left thigh.
The woman knelt down on her haunches next to him, drawing back her hood. The hood fell back, revealing straight red hair and a pretty young face, streaked with blood.
"Now you're just making it worse for yourself," she spoke amused. "For a leader you're not that bright, are you?"
"Seeing as you do not appreciate him, I'll gladly take the Omega off your hands," Uchiha said mockingly and a calculating look crossed his face. "Everything would have been much easier if you hadn't done this, Danzo."
"Done what?" Danzo spat, enraged at how casual that damn devil stood there, as if he owned the entire place.
"Thinking you could make the decisions for him. Ever considered it isn't your place to control him?"
"That's rich coming from you!" Danzo scoffed, clamping his fingers around his thigh in a futile attempt to stave off the burning pain. "I do not need lessons in morality from the likes of you. Besides, you're too late," he smiled nastily, watching how black eyes narrowed dangerously. "You take that Omega away now and he's dead. Then again if you like fucking a corpse, go right ahead."
Not even the knife twisted more viciously into his thigh could stop his laughter as he watched absolute fury light up those devilish eyes. The door slammed against the wall when Uchiha tore it open, rushing through the hallway.
All the while Danzo could only laugh and laugh even when his left hand got crushed by the taller man's boot. Let Uchiha try to take away the Omega; he would only find a corpse left to fuck.
Fury, the likes of which he had never experienced before, coursed through his veins like fire, threatening to destroy him from within as he stormed through the small corridor, enraged at the thought that they assumed they could take away what was rightfully his.
A man with white hair stood with his back towards him at the end of the corridor, blocking the entrance to the only room. Furious beyond belief Sasuke drew his katana, ready to slash the bastard apart for daring to defile the Omega.
With only a few steps left, however, the man suddenly stumbled backwards, choking out blood as he tried to remove a dagger from his chest. Dark eyes widened when they landed on Sasuke and he came to a halt, critically studying the dagger buried to the hilt in the man's chest. There would be no healing from that wound, death just waiting around the corner, but Sasuke wasn't always a patient man.
"Looks like someone was a bit too brash," he smiled thinly and swiftly cut the man's throat before he could attempt to say anything, leaving his body to slump down against the wall.
He took the liberty of pulling out the dagger, considered the bloody blade before putting it in his pocket. He dragged the lifeless body all the way back to the main room, watching in pure delight how Shimura's eyes widened with disbelief when Sasuke dumped the body just outside the door.
"I do not think I'll be fucking a corpse," Sasuke smirked and closed the door, leaving his group to deal with the couple.
His stride this time was slow but purposeful. There was no need to rush anymore; not when his men were taking care of the village and there was no longer someone standing between him and his Omega.
His footsteps echoed through the corridor and in the room at the end of it, he picked up the sounds of harsh breathing right before the door was slammed shut; something being dragged in front of it.
He tutted his lips and shook his head. "You should know better than that, little Omega."
He considered the angle when he stood in front of the closed door, cocking his head to the left. There couldn't be much furniture in the room, not when the space was specifically dedicated to providing to the Omega's heat, so whatever was in front of the door couldn't be that heavy.
Nodding to himself, he slightly twisted his torso, raised his right leg and kicked out. His foot shot straight through the door, the wood splintering apart. He smirked darkly when a shocked squeak resounded and took the time to take down more of the wood before pushing aside the object which had been blocking the door.
It turned out to be a mere chest, barely tall enough to reach his knees, and he snorted amused. Oh, had he really thought he could keep Sasuke out with something as simple as this?
Calmly he stepped through the ruins of the door and looked around the room. It was rather bare; the chest and a futon filled with a heap of blankets and pillows the only furniture present.
And there, wet eyed, cheeks flushed and a body drenched in sweat was the Omega, huddled up against the wall; holding up a sheet in front of his body. As if that flimsy barrier was going to stop anything.
Locking his eyes onto frightfully wide blue ones, Sasuke smirked. "Well, aren't you the feisty one?"
AN2: Trying something a bit newish with regards to Omega, what do you think? Interesting enough to finish? Let me know!
Please leave your thoughts behind in a review; should you spot any mistakes, please point them out to me.
I hope to see you all back in the next part! Please stay safe and take care of yourselves!
