Author's note: Two things. One, I've been reading Naruto related posts, which means my mind has gone into overdrive and is coming up with new ideas. You're hereby warned for more random ideas, including this one.
Second: Your girl (woman, whatever; I might age biologically, but mentally I haven't aged past 21) passed all her exams and her paper! Thank you to everyone who wished me good luck with them, I finally have a free summer before my Master's starts, yes!
So to celebrate that fact, have one of these random oneshots I came up with this week :) Whether or not it's something good, I leave it up to you as always.
Warnings: Sasuke's pov; canon divergent after the war; established slash; implied past MPreg; fluff; mature content; subtle jab towards someone (can you guess who?); just pure tooth rotting fluff (according to my standards at least); time skip; also Naruto being Naruto
I hope you'll like this!
Part of You
"There you are!" Naruto exclaimed, jumping up from the couch when Sasuke entered their home. "I was already thinking of tracking you down if you had stayed away longer."
Sasuke blinked and furrowed his eyebrows. "I thought they would have already locked you up by now. Wasn't it Ino's idea to have us sleeping in separate houses the night before the wedding?"
It had surprised him quite a lot when Ino had offered to help them plan out their wedding. While Sakura still seemed to have trouble accepting the fact that no, he definitely would not return her feelings, Ino had taken to helping them with wedding preparations like water to a duck's back. Somehow she'd been even more excited about this than they were and she'd insisted on following certain traditions, like him and Naruto sleeping separately the night before the wedding.
"What even for?" Naruto questioned bemused, linking his hands behind his head. "Not like we haven't done anything yet, you know."
Ino rolled her eyes and rested a hand on her hip. "Yes, I know," she snorted derisively. "Trust me, we all know that."
Sasuke smirked when Naruto blushed a beet red.
"But that doesn't mean you can't follow this tradition still," she continued and clapped her hands together, smiling excitedly. "Kind of like building up the tension if you want!"
Sasuke didn't really mind following this silly tradition if Naruto wanted it. He knew at all times where Naruto was, so he wouldn't be that worried if they ended up not spending the night together for once. It might be a bit annoying, because he had become used to having Naruto cling on to him when they slept, but it was only for one night.
Naruto waved his hand dismissively. "Yeah, Gaara's coming to pick me up soon. Dog Breath's been joking about how Gaara's meant to keep you away if we decide to break the rules," he snorted and shook his head.
"I could take him," Sasuke muttered and removed his robe. He had taken down Kaguya with Naruto – the Kazekage was nothing to that, even if he could put up quite the mean fight.
"Anyways," Naruto continued, ignoring his remark, "before I leave, there's something I want to show you first."
"Please don't tell me you painted one of the rooms orange," Sasuke sighed wearily and pinched the bridge of his nose.
He'd caught Naruto looking at the orange paint in the shop before and as much as he loved the idiot, he drew the line at having orange rooms. There was a limit to what he could tolerate.
Naruto pouted. "No, I didn't, you were pretty clear about what you would do if I ever did that."
"Well, thank god you finally learnt to listen," Sasuke muttered and removed his katana as well.
"Bastard," Naruto shot back, but he was quick to grinning again and he clasped his hands together. "Come on, I need to show you something."
"Like what?"
"It's a surprise." Naruto winked and beckoned him to follow.
Sasuke did, feeling a tad wary, especially when they passed through the kitchen and went straight outside. They didn't have an actual garden with their home being built in the midst of the forest, so instead of neatly trimmed grass they walked straight into a clearing with a small path leading further into the forest. The path was almost hidden underneath a layer of leaves which crunched underneath their shoes as they followed the long winding path amidst thorny bushes and the first autumn flowers peeking out from between them.
"Your surprise is this far into the forest?" Sasuke questioned sceptically, noticing they were walking into the direction of a stream nearby. Already he could hear the water clattering, joined by the chattering of birds.
"It's not that much further," Naruto promised and he was practically buzzing with restless energy now; his pace somewhere between a walk and a jog.
The Jinchuuriki brought him straight to the stream where he couldn't help but notice that the grass on the other side of the water was missing a patch. A rather large patch actually, he considered, frowning, as he studied the spot. It appeared almost blackened as if some fire had destroyed all the grass there. If there had been a fire, though, how come the rest of the grass was fine still?
"All right, I need you to watch me, okay?" Naruto said and now he sounded nervous, his eyes flicking away before Sasuke could catch them. He went to stand right in front of the stream, across from the space where the grass was missing a patch.
"Watch what?"
But Naruto didn't answer. Instead he brought his hands up, muttered, "God, don't let me fuck this up," and then to Sasuke's utter shock he quickly went through the seals Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse and Tiger.
"Wait, Naruto, that's - "
"Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu!" The second Naruto opened his mouth, a giant fire ball escaped him. The ball was a bit deformed, one side bigger than the other, but it didn't peter out above the water. Instead it shot straight across the water, making steam rise up, before it smashed straight into a rock on the other side, scorching the earth there further.
As the hissing of the flames died out, Sasuke could only stand there, the mental image of the Great Fireball Jutsu – his family's signature jutsu, the one every Uchiha had to be able to produce in order to be considered worthy of the Uchiha name – flashing up in front of his eyes again and again.
It was a jutsu only he still knew how to perform – and now Naruto apparently as well.
The blond man in question shuffled with his feet and fiddled with the edges of his zipped open jacket. "Erm, I was looking through the scrolls of your family a while ago," he began nervously. "And one of them – mentioned how anyone wanting to bear the Uchiha name with pride has to be able to perform the Great Fireball Jutsu perfectly."
He laughed jitterily and rubbed the back of his head; his cheeks reddening. "Thanks to the Sage of the Six Paths and the Bijuu, I got access to most natures, so I thought … I, erm, I went to practice with the toads, because I wasn't sure how well my control over fire would be because I haven't really practiced with it."
"So that's where you went to when I couldn't feel you as well," Sasuke murmured blankly, remembering several times in the past couple of months when Naruto's presence would become more faded as if he was in another realm.
He had never felt any sense of urgency on Naruto's side during those times, nothing that indicated he was in danger, so Sasuke hadn't thought to question him about it, figuring that he was just visiting the toads. He'd been partly right about that at least – just not for the reason he had assumed.
"It took me a bit to really get the hang of it," Naruto went on chagrined and grinned crookedly. "Turns out that keeping control over such a large amount of fire isn't exactly easy, so props to you for making it look so easy."
"Why …"
"I saw the Uchiha clan symbol on the robes you picked out for me," Naruto said quietly and the dark haired man stilled, finally shifting his gaze from the stone to him.
It had been Karin's idea for the two of them to choose each other's wedding robes. It certainly wasn't following any tradition, doing it like that, but Karin had said it would add an extra dimension to their wedding, whatever that meant. Surprisingly Naruto hadn't chosen anything orange for Sasuke, but instead he'd gone for tasteful dark blue robes with white linings around the edges of the sleeves. Sasuke had chosen white robes for Naruto, having thought at that time that it would suit his fiancé's tanned skin beautifully.
He had let the Uchiha fan be stitched onto the back without having thought twice about it.
"And if I'm going to be taking on your last name and becoming a part of your family, I decided I had to be worthy of having that name," Naruto added, smiling softly.
Sasuke shook his head in disbelief. "You didn't have to, Naruto, that's an old tradition. It doesn't matter anymore."
"It matters to you still." Naruto's voice was quiet again but he might as well have shouted the words for the impact they had on Sasuke. He could only stare as Naruto went on, "They're still your family. It's still your legacy. These traditions … they're still a part of you. I wouldn't feel good about wearing such an important name, wearing your family symbol without acknowledging where it comes from. I know it wasn't as perfect as yours is, but I hope it's still acceptable enough," he smiled shyly.
"You're an idiot," Sasuke huffed and Naruto's head shot up, looking outraged, but Sasuke doused his anger before it could even bloom, grabbing him by his collar and pulling him towards him for a deep, rough kiss, pouring all his love, his admiration, his frustration about loving such a stupid perfect man into the kiss.
When they finally broke apart, they were panting harshly and blue eyes were wide and glistening when Naruto asked huskily, "So, I passed the test? I'm a real Uchiha now?" He was only partly joking, his voice still so painfully earnest that Sasuke couldn't help but reel him in for another kiss, nipping at his lower lip for good measure.
"You're going to be the death of me," Sasuke swore, wrapping his arm around Naruto's shoulders and tugging him against him.
He could feel Naruto smile against his neck. "Like I would even let you escape in death. You're stuck with me forever, bastard."
"Yeah," Sasuke sighed softly and smiled, closing his eyes and listening to the quiet clattering of the water. "Same here, usuratonkachi."
Eight years later …
"We really should take a day off more often," Naruto sighed, a moan slipping past his lips when fingers dipped between his cheeks, pressing against his entrance.
"Is a Hokage even allowed to take multiple days off?" Sasuke teased, kissing him in his neck. He watched Naruto sit back in his lap, trapping his hand between his legs. His cock hardened completely, nudging against Naruto's rim when the blond rolled his hips almost leisurely but with clear intent, rubbing his arse against Sasuke's cock.
"Whatever, I'm sure Shikamaru can take over," Naruto muttered; the flush on his cheeks spreading down towards his chest. "He's the one constantly complaining I work too hard anyways."
"We could go on a holiday," Sasuke suggested in a low voice, pushing one finger inside of his husband, smirking when that had the man on top of him shuddering. "Could go somewhere nice and quiet, where we won't get disturbed."
"Hm, that does sound tempting," Naruto breathed out and leant down to kiss him.
Right as their mouths touched, their seven year old daughter yelled from behind the closed door, "Dad, papa, wake up! I want to show you something, come on!"
Sasuke couldn't help but groan annoyed; their daughter's interruption working like ice cold water on the mood. "She has impeccable timing," he muttered darkly.
Naruto deflated, slumping down on top of him. "You tell me."
"She definitely got that from you, you know."
"The hell? Why would she have got that from me?"
"Because she inherited all your annoying traits, clearly," Sasuke smirked and smacked his arse, making the blond man squawk in outrage.
"Just for that, I'll be finishing up on my own later today," he said threateningly and rolled off Sasuke.
"Oh please, you'll be begging me to fuck you," Sasuke snorted and swung his legs off the bed. "Like you'd be happy to do it yourself when I'm here."
"You're unbelievably arrogant, you know that?" Naruto complained, swatting his shoulder.
"DAD, PAPA, COME ON!"
"She got that impatience from you." Naruto stuck out his tongue and rushed into the adjoining bathroom before Sasuke could retaliate.
"All right, what do you want to show us, Sachiko?" Sasuke asked curiously once he and Naruto were dressed and out of the bathroom.
Their girl was practically bouncing on the back of her heels as she waited for them at the backdoor, her black hair tied into two messy braids. Her blue eyes – the ones she'd inherited from Naruto – shone with unbridled excitement and Sasuke felt the last bit of annoyance melt away at the sight of that.
"I learnt something new and I want to show you," she declared enthusiastically, opening the backdoor. "Karin-ba-chan says I'm really good at it already!"
"She could twirl around with a kunai in her hand and Karin would still think she did great," Naruto muttered amused underneath his breath.
Sasuke inclined his head; one corner of his mouth twitching in a half smile. It was a fact that his old teammates were completely enamoured with Sachiko. Perhaps because they had helped them search for a way he and Naruto could have children naturally together, but Karin, Suigetsu and Jugo were completely wrapped around Sachiko's little finger, doing whatever the girl wanted.
To be fair, Sachiko managed to basically wrap everyone around her little finger, even turning the Kazekage smitten with her.
It was the Uchiha genes, Naruto declared laughingly every time. It was her eyes, Sasuke shot back, because they were an exact copy of Naruto's and the gods knew Sasuke always had been weak for that particular colour.
He grew suspicious when Sachiko led them straight to the stream nearby their home and became tense when she halted in exactly the same spot Naruto had stood eight years ago, right before their wedding.
"Sachiko, what are we doing here?" he asked warily, casting a glance at Naruto, who was suspiciously silent; his gaze fixated on their daughter.
"Watch," she said brightly and didn't miss a beat when she quickly formed the signs Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse and Tiger. "Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu!"
The fireball she spat out was nowhere near the size that Sasuke and Naruto were capable of producing, but it was clearly a smaller version of the Great Fireball, one which soared perfectly across the water and slammed into the rock, which still stood there, albeit a lot more scorched looking than before.
"What do you think, dad?" Sachiko demanded, vibrating on the spot as she looked at him hopefully; her hands clenched into her purple dress. "Did I do well? I practiced so much Tsunade-baa-chan had to help me heal my hands, look!" She lifted her hands, showing the faint pinkish spots still lingering on her palms.
"You did very well, sweetheart," he praised her and lowered himself down to the ground, meeting her excited grin head on. "Who taught you about the jutsu?" Because he clearly hadn't, though she had seen him using it before when he and Naruto sparred.
"Papa did!" she replied brightly and pointed at Naruto, who smiled sheepishly. "Says it shows what an Uchiha can do and because I'm an Uchiha, I wanted to be able to do it too! And I did it!"
"Yes, you did, you did it perfectly," he said and she preened, lurching forwards to hug him tightly around his neck.
He stood up like that, heaving her up and having her wrap her legs around his waist before he crossed the distance between him and his devious husband. "You're really going to be the death of me one day, you know that?" he said accusingly.
Naruto grinned and kissed him, before cupping Sachiko's head. "Just keeping the tradition alive. It's part of us, no?"
Yeah, yeah, he supposed it was.
It was a part of them, of their family. Who knew such an old tradition would fill him with such warmth still?
Or maybe it wasn't the tradition itself.
He met shining blue eyes and smiled. It was definitely something else.
The End
AN2: Apparently Naruto is capable of using Fire jutsu after the war. My mind ran with that information and with something else I read and boom, you've got this as a result. Yes, the ending is random. I'm still working on that.
Please leave your thoughts behind in a review; should you spot any mistakes, please point them out to me.
I hope to see you all back in my future stories! Please stay safe and take care of yourselves!
