A hound meets the Sunshine
She was heading for home; she had a long stay in the Sand Village and helped them with their medicinal herb-gardens. Hyuuga, Hinata was pleased with her help with the Sand Village, her herbal knowledge was almost legendary by now. She had showed them how to make medicinal salves and creams and also how to use some of them in cooking.
But then there was something… something in the air and Hinata stopped and she activated her blood-line special – the Byakugan.
There in the forest she saw a huge dog. Her team mate Kiba had a big dog, Akamaru, but Akamaru was just a teeny tiny rat-puppy compared to this beast of a dog. Hinata walked towards it as it looked as if it was sleeping. But when she came close the huge dog woke up and roared.
Hinata stepped back and watched the magnificent beast. She gasped and then she stepped into safe-mode. People and beast alike from her home village in the Leaf would know about the Gentle Fist-stance, others would probably not really that it was a most lethal fighting-method.
With her Byakugan she could see the abnormal aura and chakra that emanated from the huge beast. It was a bit different from Naruto’s Nine-tail chakra, but it was in the same category she gathered.
“You dare to disturb this Sesshomaru’s rest?”
Hinata blinked at the growling, dark voice. Where had it come from? Was it the beast, could it speak??
“W-who said that?” she said as she tried to find if there was another person in range, but even with her ocular benefit, she could only see the beast in front of her.
“Be gone, you lowlife, before this Sesshomaru sends you to the afterlife!”
Yes, it was the beast that spoke, Hinata was sure now. But she swallowed her fear and gazed at the magnificent huge dog. It was now that she realized that his left front leg was missing. The poor dog had only three legs. Not that it made any less imposing. The white flowing fur seemed to move with the wind. She could see a magenta marking on its forehead; it looked like a crescent moon. Also there looked as if there were some red markings at the edge of that huge growling gap of a mouth.
Her pearly white eyes showed her resolve as she looked into the blood red eyes of the demon dog.
“My name is Hyuuga, Hinata and I am not here to threaten or harm you. I saw you as I travelled back to my village, I was afraid that You was hurt”, Hinata said with as a calm voice you could as you faced a large than life dog-beast.
But there was only a rippling growl as an answer as the large dog turned around and swished his tail over her face and it began to walk away. The tail and just slightly touched her face as if the beast just has brushed her off like an annoying insect, but it had been silky soft brush. And then she saw some drops of blood on the ground. And if anyone that knew Hinata, they would tell you that she had a very empathic soul.
“Uhm, Dog-sama…. Y-you are hurt?” Hinata blurted out and took a few steps closer behind the large and in fact limping beast. “M-maybe… maybe I can h-help you? I know of healing.”
The large dog stopped and turned it massive head around and glared at the small human that had the gall to offer him help. Didn’t she know that he was a demon and that he would heal soon? But a quick look at the female told him that this was probably not the case.
Hinata swallowed hard and reached into one of her pockets and picked out a small vial. She handed it towards the huge beast.
“I am good at making healing oils, salves and creams. This is a healing oil, good for uhm…uhm… o-open wounds,” whispered Hinata.
And something happened – the large beast lay down again and she saw a small approving nod of the massive head.
Chapter 2
To say that Hinata had jelly in her legs was an understatement but she approached the large beast and she held out her vial with her healing oil towards the enormous dog so he could sniff it. The beast was a sentient being and in her head she was sure he could sniff out poison in her potions too.
“I … I am a h-healer,” she whispered softly as she saw him sniff her medicinal vial. “I p-promise you, I w-will not h-hurt you.”
Her answer was a grunt and the large beast moved to show her his belly and ribcage. There was four large gashes across it and Hinata went into medic-mode. She used her oil as well as healing chakra. The beast snarled and lifted his head.
Hinata as said, was in her medic-mode so she just held out one hand and commanded with a firm voice that the beast should be still as she put the healing on him.

Sesshomaru had fought a very vicious beast of a demon, he had been damaged, he had been hurt and all he wanted was some peace to heal his wounds. But his rest had been disturbed by a lonely human. A girl in his mind. He had tried his best to scare her off, but she seemed determined to make contact with him.
‘Foolish human’, he thought but then she made some kind of hand gesture and it made him both curious and irritated. He had asked who dared to disturb him and she only reacted with telling him her name.
He watched her closely and she had not reacted like any other humans he ever had encounter before. It was almost as if she knew of his kind. She had been in defense-stance, he was almost sure of this. Her bravery almost brinked to insanity as she had not backed off.
Sesshomaru was a bit perplexed as she offered him healing. She hold out a vial with ointment and he sniffed it, it was nothing poisonous.
He was tired and hurt, and this little human woman offered him some healing, perhaps he could accept it. He knew he could kill her with a swipe of his claws so… he let her near him. It was then he began to feel something strange and he tilted his head and saw her hands had a mild, green glow as she held her hands over his wounds.
It made his whiskers tingle and he growled again but he could feel how his wounds began to heal and he let her do her thing. But he kept an eye on her the entire time.
In the end she moved away and smiled softly to herself as she looked at her work. She looked almost happy. She turned her face towards him and smiled. And Sesshomaru was sure he saw the sunshine for the first time in his life.
“I… I think you are h-healed now… Dog-sama,” she whispered and then her eyes rolled backed in her head and she began to fall.
Sesshomaru managed to catch her with his one large paw before she hit the ground. He laid her down as gently as he could on the ground and listened to her heartbeat. It was steady as it could be. She had only fainted he was sure. Perhaps this healing took a lot out of the healer? And yet again, his wounds had been quite sincere if he would be honest, perhaps not lethal, but it would have taken him days to heal with his normal healing powers. She had done it under just ten minutes.
And it was at this time he decided to change back into his other form, his more human form. And just moments later a tall man with silver white hair, yellow eyes and dressed in traditional garments stood in the giant dogs place. He had a large white pelt over his right shoulder that looked a tad too big to wear, but wore it he did.
He looked like any other man, well, unless you didn’t count the elfin ears, the strange markings on his face and the fact that his right hands nails were long and sharp as claws. He kneeled next to the black haired female who had healed him. He took in her features.
She was not the most beautiful woman he had seen, but there was a shy beauty to her features. Her face was round, her hair black that it almost looked as if it had blue highlights in them. She was dressed in something that Sesshomaru didn’t really think was suitable for a woman. A grey jacket, black trousers and blue sandal-looking shoes. Odd dressing indeed.
He moved to sit with his back against a tree, he decided to watch over her until she awoke and then he would move on again. How much he despised the thought, this young woman had helped him and he felt somewhat grateful for it. So he would watch over her so no harm came to her as she was in her fainted state.

Hinata felt her head pounding. She recognized the pounding and she knew she had fainted again. Although it had been a long time since she had done it, she was sure that this was what happened. She cursed under her breath and blinked a few times before she before she slowly tried to rise. She saw that she was in the forest still. And then the memories returned to her.
“Dog-sama!!” she shouted and began to look around frantically. But the huge beast whom she had healed was nowhere to be seen. She failed at first to notice the strange being that was seated against a large tree as she looked around. But then when she did see him she gave up a small gasp and got quickly up on her feet.
“W-who are you?” she whispered as she noticed the figure. She saw the swords and her defense system kicked into gear.
“You are awake, good. Then this Sesshomaru can leave,” the figure spoke and rose to his feet as well.
‘Byakugan’ whispered Hinata and with her bloodlines special eyes she could see that the aura and chakra was identical to the gigantic dog she had healed earlier.
“H-how… you was.. a-are you a dog?” she asked as she tried to grasp what she was seeing.
Sesshomaru hmpfed and began to walk away. He had repaid his debt to the young female. She was safe and could get on with her journey and he could continue with his.
“D-dog-sama!!” she called out and began to move towards him. She wanted answers.
“Stop calling me Dog-sama, my name is Sesshomaru and I am leaving”, he stated gravely. He had no need to be conversing with a frail human woman.
Hinata stopped dead in her tracks as he told her off. She was confused but she was also to polite to impose herself on someone that didn’t want her company.
‘Well, he seems to be healed and that is all that’s matter,’ she thought as she let out a deep sigh. But she was glad she had been able to help him out, no matter whom he was. Or what he was. Dog or man, it did not matter to her.
She turned and began to head home to the Leaf village. She was sure that this delay had her friends and family worried. She would probably never meet this strange being again. But it didn’t matter, she had helped and she was glad to have been able to do so.
Chapter 3
It was as Hinata suspected as she walked through the gates of Konoha, the village of Leaf. She met Shiranui, Genma and he was chewing on his favorite senbon.
“Hyuuga-san, you are late, we thought you would arrive ten hours ago,” Genma said lazily as he made a confirmation that this indeed was Hyuuga, Hinata entering their gates.
“I am sorry Shiranui-san, I was delayed because of an odd event. But I think I need to speak with Hokage-sama about it,” Hinata said softly and bowed to the gate-keeper. He nodded her off and she walked more quickly towards the Hokage-tower.
Hinata entered the tower and walked up to the Hokage’s office. She waited for a sign that it was alright for her to come inside. And it came quickly. She entered the office and saw the Rokudaime, Hatake, Kakashi, sit behind a large desk with tons of papers on it. She bowed politely and walked up to the desk.
“Hyuuga-san, I am so happy to see that you are alright, you had us rather worried when you didn’t arrive on schedule,” the masked Hokage said happily.
“I am sorry, Hokage-sama, I was delayed because something very strange happened.” Hinata answered truthfully and began to tell the story about the huge dog then turned human. Her leader listened and looked rather worried and yet curious.
‘Really, could it be?’ Kakashi thought as he got up from his desk and headed towards a smaller room which was filled with archives. He began to rummage around as Hinata watched him in amazement.
“AHA!!” the shout made Hinata jump a bit as Kakashi came back into the office and held a folder in his hand. “I knew it… I knew I had read about it somewhere!!”
Hinata looked a bit stupefied but she didn’t say anything.
“From what you have told me, Hyuuga-san, the creature you encountered was actually a demon. A real demon, not like the Nine-tails that can be sealed into children. But a real demon.”
Hinata just gaped at the answer. Sure she knew that there was strange being in existence, but real demons?
“You didn’t happen to catch his name did you?” asked Kakashi as he rubbed his masked cheek. This was indeed interesting. A real shape-shifting demon that walked this earth. Sure he had met a lot of people that could pass as demons, like Zabuza of the Mist, but really a real demon? Nope, he had never met one of those before.
“U-uhm, I… I think it was Sesshomaru,” said Hinata with her soft voice.
“Sesshomaru? Are you sure?” asked Kakashi as he flipped through the papers in the folder.
“Y-yes, I am pretty sure that was h-his name,” Hinata answered.
A few minutes of silence and then Kakashi looked up and pinned his one eye on the nervous looking young woman.
“He didn’t happen to say where he was going?” Kakashi asked and closed his eye as the Hyuuga shook her head in no. He sighed and then: “Well, let us hope he wanders off our lands, all of our ninja-nations lands. He is a very deadly demon, Hyuuga-san… and it was nothing less of a miracle that he let you heal him, to let you come so close to him.”
Hinata blinked in confusion. She didn’t understand what her leader was telling her.
Kakashi sighed and rubbed his forehead a bit.
“Just let me say this – be glad that you are still alive, Hyuuga-san!” and then made a notion with his hand and Hinata exited his office.
“Damn demons – they just couldn’t keep to the northen Lands could they…” Kakashi mumbled to himself as he looked through the papers in his hands. If the Hyuuga-princess was right, there was a huge dog demon on the loose in the lands of the five nations. This was not good. Not good at all. He would not have time to read his precious orange book any time soon.
Kakashi called for Shizune who came into his office before he could finish his order for her to come inside, she was that good you know. She had served under Tsunade and now she helped Kakashi with running of the things.
“Shizune-san, please, I need your help. I need you to send out a message to all ninja-nations. Copy this and add to the message.”
She nodded and just the copy-jutsu and headed towards the messenger-tower to send the message out to the villages that her leader wanted her to.

In the meantime not very far away from the Leaf Village a certain one-armed person was cursing both heaven and earth…. Why?? Because he was lost, utterly and completely lost he was. He had fallen in that cursed well that that silly human girl had used as some sort of a portal, and he had ended up in another strange era. Just before he had fell in he had fought that half-breed – Naraku and now he, the great Sesshomaru was stranded in a strange land.
A girl-woman had helped him, he had been pretty beaten up and yet she had helped him. Somehow she had reminded him of Rin. A woman child free from sin and filled of completely innocence.
He refused to admit that he missed the woman-child, Hinata, yes that had been her name. The woman-child with those strange white eyes; so full of empathy and emotions, where was she now? He had been foolish, Sesshomaru realized as he sat down at a large tree. He should have kept that woman as a guide, to help him understand this new world that…. That retched well-portal had sent him too.

It was the Mizukage who sent back the first notification about the silverhaired dog-demon to Kakashi and it held no comfort what so ever. Several of her top elite ninjas had tried to capture this three-legged humungous dog and they had all ended up with severe wounds. Not dead, thank the gods, but very much wounded.
She told Kakashi in the encoded letter that the creature had moved back to the land of the Leaf and was probably residing somewhere in Leafs giant woods.
So the demon was back in Kakashi’s back of the woods so to speak. He sighed and asked for team 8 to come to his office. It meant Kiba, Shino and Hinata. They were the best tracking team that his village could count on. But he also asked for Ino and Sasuke to come along.
Kiba’s nose along with his dog Akamaru were almost better than Kakashi’s summon ninja dog in tracking. And together with Shino’s bugs and Hinata’s 360 vision they were certainly the best in the village as it came down to tracking.
Uchiha, Sasuke, the loner, the unfortunate hero of the war that had been. He was going to be given a special order, if it was needed. If not – he was just the back up team.
Yamanako, Ino, she was going to be Kakashi’s wild card. She was feisty, she could if need have a hold over Sasuke in case he went bananas, but also, she could get a hold of the demon-dog they were searching for. Plus, she really did pick up the rear end and held a group together with her feisty nature.

The five met just outside Konoha’s gates. Shino had been given leader-ship of the five-man team. Nothing he really cared for to have but he nodded towards all of them in greetings.
“Kiba, you have the shirt from Hinata, the blood there will help us track whomever that blood belongs to, he said to Kiba which in turn nodded and held up the shirt and then held it out to his large dog Akamaru. A large Voff came from Akamaru. Kiba nodded.
Both Kiba and his dog got the scent.
“Good,” said Shino and then turned to Hinata. “Hinata-chan, you make sure to keep track with the Byakugan. You know the creatures chakra-signature… right?”
Hinata nodded.
“Yamanaka-san, you and Uchiha-san, you are the back-up team as Hokage-sama suggested, is that clear?” Shino asked the two remaining team-mates.
The blonde girl and the black haired man nodded without questions.
“Good, now let us head out,” Shino ordered.

It was no wonder that it was Kiba that first found the track of the creature they were searching for. But then a strange thing happened. His trusted dog Akamaru curled back, and yelped like a little puppy. And then Kiba saw a man, dressed in traditional garments and had silvery long hair. He was resting against a tree and Kiba rushed forward only to stop dead in his tracks as a sword suddenly was pointed towards him.
“Foolish human,” snarled the man seated against the tree as he opened his eyes and they glowed with a sulfur yellow color.
And suddenly the man against the tree had risen to his feet – the sword still pointing at Kiba. But before he could react – he himself had a sword pointed towards his throat.
“I am sorry, but I suggest you will lay down you weapons,” a dark voice hissed behind Sesshomaru.
It was then Sesshomaru saw the woman-child with the white eyes again.
“You??!!” he almost whispered.
Hinata walked towards him and bowed politely. Her porcelain white cheeks were dusted with a small blush.
“I am sorry Sesshomaru-sama, but I beg you, please come with us, we… we have much to discuss, I believe,” Hinata said with her soft voice and held out a hand towards the silvery haired man. “You trusted me earlier to heal you wounds, please trust me now to come with us… please?” she asked again as Sesshomaru hesitated.
Sesshomaru lowered his sword and sheathed it soon. The sword against his neck disappeared almost immediately and he looked around and was rather annoyed that he had been had by a small group of human youngsters. Even though not many of them were older than that blasted demon slayer that travelled with his half-brother – these youngster had some really good skills.
“Sesshomaru-sama?”, that soft voice of that white eyed woman-child. It would be the end of him one day, he was sure.
Kiba was confused as he watched his own dog began to lick the man’s hand and yip and growl lightly as if he was a small puppy again.
“Akamaru!!” growled Kiba and the dog fell back as they walked towards the village with this strange man in between them.
