UNBETAED, and my spelling sucks. If your offering E-mail me at FlyingLover1@aol.com, and i'll tell you what I'l need you to do.
Its a mission. Nothing else. I wont go into detail but long story short; a wealthy cheating husband kicked his wife out, keeping their three year old. And being from a wealthy family herself, her father hired us to go in and get her out. Just one problem: the only why to get in is durning the ball the husband is hosting, and the only way for us to get in is by posing as the musical entertainment.
Problem 1 with this is; Kakashi can only play that song on the harmonica you here all the time on TV when your in jail. Problem 2, Sakura only took minor paino lessens and can't play very well. Problem 3, well it not really a 'problem' per-say but still, Sasuke can only play the violin, albeit well, but thats all. And last but not least I refuse to play.
Dont get me wrong I love to play. I could play anything you give me, and play well. In fact it maybe what kept me sane for many years. Its just nobody knows I play but Jiraiya and only because I was training with him for three years to get Sasuke back.
And that training payed off big time. Sasuke is back and team 7 is back togeather. Only thing is I cant look at Sasuke normally any more. We kinda had a one night fling kinda thing a few days before he left and I kinda told him I loved him, and at the Valley of the End he said... well I wont bore you with the sad details.
And after that when I left with Jiraiya playing music kept me alive, it became my non-destructive outlet. And I won't play infront of him. Ever. I even told Tsunade point blank I would only play any thing if a life was on the line, other wise I would play the violin carrer.
While puzzled she didn't force me and told Kakashi what I said. So here we are out side of the mansion we where supost to get into. We desided on the way here that I would be the mannager of sorts, Sasuke and his fake wife Sakura would be playing deversion and Kakashi would find the girl and get out.
Only when we got in we didn't relize the husband had a male lover. So while Sarkua was supost to distract the man and Sasuke play it was reversed. and Sakura couldn't play. I could tell she was frezzing up at the paino and the man was starting to get suspicious, and Sasuke was gatting drunk (it he wasn't already) from all the drinks the man kept insisting he drink.
That's when Kakashi said "I've got the girl, give me two minutes and I'm out." over the ear phones. I sighed, knowing I would have to play or we would get caught and Kakashi would not have enough time.
As i walked over to the paino where Sakura sat frozen I whispered "You've got three, Sakura, get Sasuke's drunken ass out of here." And louder I said, bowing to every one "Sorry everyone she hasn't played in a lond time and didnt expect to have to on sush short notice. I will play a little something as an apology."
Turning to the paino I saw Sakura's disbelieving look and gave her one and mouthed 'Go get Sasuke'. Shestill looked like I was going to get us all killed but moved to do as I said, when our host who had the nerve to put his arm around Sasuke's waist, said " I would like to here a somber tune at the moment. Can you play that?"
The insult was clear. He didn't beleive I could play at all. I was never one to back down from a chalange, so I gave him a defying look before takeing me seat before the ivory keys.
Tappeing my fingers across random keys to get a feel of the large paino in front of me, the movement causing several people to laugh untill I started playing. The notes carrying my sorrow and grief into the air. My voice echoing in the now quite room.
I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
As I played I remember the first time I played this song. It was right after Sasuke left me. Ohhh, how I cried.
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I remember feeling this song as I wrote it. I remember crying, and making Jiraiya cry the frist time he heard it. I was suprised I wasn't crying now. My eyes closed or narrowed at the keys.
Baby, I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I remember the pain I felt when he left and I knew it showed in my voice as I sang, that every word that didn't crack was a blessing. The real reason I didnt want to play. He would hear how much it hurt, how much it still hurt.
There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I remember making love to him and feeling so complete. Like I finaly found my other half. And the pain again when I found out he didn't feel the same. I can't help but feel on some levil I drove him away.
Maybe there's a god above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And it's not a cry you can hear at night,
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I had heard several sniffels and crying before I was half way done, but I didn't expect the entire room to erupt in applause as the last note filtered out. Looking at the room I noticed in horror that Sakura and Sasuke where at the door and looking at me like they couldn't beleive I had just dont that.
My eyes locked with Sasuke 's and like I hevent been able to sinse he left I couldn't read anything but disbelief. I bowed to the room of crying and clapping people before I made a hasty retreat out a closer door than the one Sasuke and Sakura stood at, and heard Kakashi say "I'm out. Meet me at the camp when you can get out."
I didn't look at eather of them on the way to the camp and was greatful when the little girl decided she liked me enough to keep me busy till we droped her off with her mother the next day. I could tell Sakura wanted to talk to me but avoided her. And if I didn't know any better I would say Sasuke tried to corner me a few times on the three day trip home.
But I did know better. He probley just wanted to gripe at me for not planing on playing from the start or some shit. In any case I did'nt want to talk to either of them. Although Kakashi did managed to say he liked my porformance that he heard over the mike, and asked why I hadn't played for them before.
Both coments I managed to dodge, if only just.
The gates where finaly in sight and with them the promse of freedom and a place to hide. i had ben running ahead of out small group and put on more speed to get in the gate and get home before Sakura could ask anything, and hopefuly she would get the massage.
But just like most (If not all) of my plans it was derailed when just inside of the gate Kakashi said something about the mission report and as I again walked ahead of them toward the tower I heard the strangest thing.
Humming. Sasuke humming to be precice. My body froze and just refused to move when I relized he was humming that song. No. Not just that song, THE song. The one I sang.
As he began to pass me, him being ahead of the others too I heard him sing, just softly enough that only I could hear. "I remember when you moved in me, and the The holy dark was moving too, And every breath we drew was Hallelujah."
Looking over at him I saw his head turned slightly to me and a faint smile, not a smirk, a real smile aimed at me. And just like that hope blossomed in my heart, and for the frist time in years my own heartbeat didn't hurt.
'Maybe there is some hope for us after all?' I thought as I speed alightly to walk beside the raven. At his glance and another small smile I amended that thought. 'There IS hope for us after all'
