Chap 1 In the Night

Naruto age 13 watched the village of Konoha at night. He needed little sleep thanks to the demon beast inside of him. The 4 winged bat attacked the village and caused tons of destruction. To his character he was under the control of a terrible power.

The bat's name was Mokuun and he peered into the young blonde's heart and saw great promise in him, even as he grew up and people hated him. All Naruto wanted was a friend. He used the boys chakra and created a familiar. Naruto loved his bat friend. He named him Kui, and Kui was able to speak but Naruto was the only one who can understand the bat.

Kui and Naruto shared some of the same abilities. Mokuun helped train Naruto and the two grew to be allies as well. Naruto gained a doujutsu as well as some other unique ninjutsu. Kui flew to Naruto's shoulder. "Anything to report Kui…?"

"There is a boy being chased in area 3 he appears to be of the Aburame clan." Kui spoke but to anyone else it sounded like that little bat was just squeaking. "It sounds like Shino, let's go…"

Kui transformed into a black cape and with it Naruto took off flying into the night. Naruto had mapped out Konoha into various areas, thanks to Mokuun Naruto only needed 4 hours of sleep a day to be fully energized, so he used the night to train and to explore Konoha. He made friends with the various bats in the village and they were better than the hokage's information network when it came to the night life of Konoha.

It was thanks to Naruto's spy bats that Hinata's kidnapping by the lightning nin was thwarted without the death of Hizashi or Hiashi. The thunder nin lived and had confessed to the plan to try and steal the byakugan, he and the rest of the nin were sent back to the village with a warning not to attempt such a thing again. The nin had no clue how he was stopped.

Naruto flew through the sky. He landed in area 3 and saw Shino being chased. "Why does he not fight back? The Aburame clan has more than enough power to deal with fools like that." Mokuun spoke and Naruto frowned. "Because the Aburame clan would not lower themselves to fight fools who hate them."

Shino ran fast, he had been cut off from his clan's area by some older bullies from school. These guys saw him and his family as freaks, because of the insects inside them. Shino wouldn't cry and he would disgrace his family if he fought back, his only option was to try and run and escape.

However he had been chased for a good 2 hours so far his mind was wavering. He ended up running down an alley. "Damn it…"

"Heh heh looks like it game over for you…" The eldest bully spoke.

"To think your some clan genius, nah you're just a freak who would want to be on a nin team with you…" The one on the left spoke with a disgusted look on his face, the one on the far right chuckled. "Oh man you gave us quite the run we were just gonna mess with ya a little now we gotta kick your ass…"

Shino backed up against the wall, a bead of sweat running down his cheek. He knew he was in a bind, but what was he to do?

The three bullies rushed at him and just as they got half way down the alley, Naruto descended coming in between Shino and the bullies. Naruto poured chakra into his eyes and they became a bright gold. The bullies stared at him in utter shock. "No way it's the monster why's he here…?"

"No matter you were just leaving…" One of the bullies said and he tried to move forward but was frozen in place.

Naruto smirked. "No, you guys will be going and you will forget about this night, in fact you will leave Shino alone from this day forward, you will not think to do any harm to him or his family…" Naruto's golden eyes flashed and the guys became in a daze. Shino could see the glazed over look in their eyes. 'What did he do to them?'

The guys wondered off not saying a word. "Naruto I…" Shino began and Naruto quickly took off. "Wait!" Shino sent his bugs after Naruto, not to hurt him but to track him. An Aburame always shows their gratitude.

Shino's bugs were fast, but Kui was faster he flew Naruto back to their home, an old run down house but the house was a good day stop for bats. Naruto made it their home. It was a huge house, and if not for the bats it was very lonely.

The bugs did not dare get any closer they returned to Shino to relay the information. "He lives here, how can that be acceptable?" Shino's mind began to think and the wheels began to turn. The bats, Naruto's mistreatment both at school and in the village, the horrible living condition, the nickname of monster. His eyes widened as the last piece of the puzzle fell into place. Naruto's birthday fell on the same day as the day the 4 winged bat attacked the village.

"Naruto is the vessel for the 4 winged bat, it explains everything…" Shino frowned. "To think there was someone else who was suffering the same as me…" Shino lowered his shades. "I will show you my thanks Naruto, I have a debt to repay and I will pay it…"

Shino returned home to his worried mother, who hugged and kissed him and asked if he was ok. 'Naruto is all alone right now, it's wrong he's not a monster he shouldn't be treated as such…' Shino went to his room, his father didn't bother to ask what happened he could already guess. Shino got in his pajamas and got in bed but he had trouble sleeping. His mind was filled with thoughts of Naruto.

Being the ever observant boy he was, he noticed things about Naruto, and now knowing the truth about him made things get put in perspective. Where Shino kept to himself, Naruto stood out so people would see him and not the thing inside of him. Shino got a glimpse of the true Naruto this night and he wanted to see more…
