‘I look into the eyes of my opponent. They shine with white hot intensity and determination. I scoff at their weak attempt to injure me. Without a doubt I will avenge my father by seeing her dead. She is too weak to even stand up again. Time for the kill’
I am jolted from my slumber. The chuunin exams were so long ago. After the now Hokage, Naruto, beat some sense into me I began looking back at the match I was just dreaming about differently. I admire her now. All she ever wanted to do was prove to me and everyone she could be our leader, prove to us that she is strong in more ways than one.
I was just too blinded to see what was in front of my own face, but the blonde haired knuckle-head all but forced me to see what was there. When I saw her lying in the hospital bed, due to my own hand and she still smiled at me, I finally realized how much I truly love her, admired her. I may have dated others hoping they would fill her place, no one ever came close. She is my moon, my princess, my Hinata.
Rolling over on my bed, I throw my hand over my face Since I realized how much I love her I have done everything in my power to be near her, to earn her full trust again, and hopefully her love, thus is my real reason for being here. It didn’t take long though, for my princess is a forgiving person.
I wonder what she is doing right now, probably sleeping like any normal person at 5am, but then again she is a ninja and always has rose earlier than even the servants to avoid remarks about her being a ‘delicate princess’. I activate my Byakugan to see what she is doing. It is not spying…it’s…observing for her protection, yes that is it.
It is easy to locate her quickly; she is just starting to stir. I watch as she sits up in bed and turns around, making direct eye contact with me, chakra pulls to her eyes. Quickly I deactivate my Byakugan and lay back down. She caught me watching her. I know she couldn’t feel my Byakugan on her so why did she activate hers? Was she watching me? Does she love me as I love her? Oh, Kami-sama, why?
My musings are interrupted when I hear a very soft knock on my door.
Rising, I don my robe and I open the door. I knew who was there before I looked down; I am too in tune with her chakra.
“Hinata-sama, good morning. Is there something I can do for you?”
A light blush stains her cheeks as she pokes her fingers together.
“Would you like to come in?” I ask, trying to break the ice a little
She nods slightly and I move to let her in. She walks past me, she smells like lavender. She would smell like natures aphrodisiac. I take a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself.
I close my door and turn around. She is sitting on my bed, blushing; she nibbles her bottom lip and looks me right in the eye. She pat the bed lightly next to her, I couldn’t resist.
“Hinata-sama?”
“N-neji-niisan, why w-where you l-look-king at m-me earlier?” she blushed
“I could ask the same question” I reply with a small smirk
“b-b-b-but I asked y-you first” she returned my smirk
I took a deep breath, am I ready to tell her how I feel? I feel a comforting squeeze on my knee. I look down at the small hand, and then I turn to look at her again. Her eyes held an unwavering support and…love?
“I was checking to make sure you were fine” I lied a little and watched the disappointment play across her features.
“Oh, ok” she stood and headed for the door.
I wanted to tell her how much I love her. I wanted to pull her into a hug. I wanted to place my face to the curve of her neck and inhaled her scent as deeply as I could-I know it is Lavender. I wanted to place small kisses on her soft skin and claim her as mine.
She turns at my doorway, “I will see you at breakfast”. I nod swiftly in return.
I shower quickly and dress. I leave my room and head to the dining hall, Uncle Hiashi is already there waiting on me and his daughters.
“Uncle” I say bowing respectfully. Hinata and Hanibi follow behind and greet him as normal. Hinata grabs the tea pot and pours us our morning cup.
“Neji, I would like to talk to you about Hinata.” He says in his deep commanding voice.
I hate when he talks about her as if she isn’t there, quickly I say a silent prayer that he didn’t know about this morning. “What about Hinata-sama?” I ask, trying to sound uninterested. I still a quick glance at Hinata and realize she is thinking the same thing.
“You have been spending a great deal of time with her”
‘SHIT!’
“You know her better than I do”
‘Duh’
“How do you think she would pair with the Uchiha?” Hinata nearly spit out her tea.
I fight the urge to glare and call my uncle stupid. I fight the urge to scream that I love her and she belongs with me, “Uncle, I do not think it is a smart match for Hinata-sama. She should be in a marriage of love and not have to worry about her husband’s fidelity.”
“You do not think he would learn to love her?”
“Not as she deserves to be loved. At best he would love her like a sister. Hinata-sama needs someone who will love her unconditionally, love only her.” I steal a look at Hinata.
“Not to mention Uchiha-san’s boyfriend, Hokage-sama, would not like it either.” Hanibi pipes up. Hinata shoots her a glare to be quiet.
“Hmmm… That will never do then. I will have to come up with another man suitable for my eldest”
Silence fell over the table. Soon, but not soon enough, it was time for Hinata and I to head to train. We each grab our lunches and I escort her to the training grounds.
“Shall we have lunch together? Normal spot?” We started meeting periodically for lunch, at a small waterfall off of training ground number 4 a few months ago.
“Yes, I would like that very much. I shall see you then, Neji-niisan” I watched her run to her team until she was out of my sight then I run off to meet my team.
Tenten and I train together as normal, until Gai-sensei decides it is time for lunch. My female teammate asks for me to join her for lunch. I respectfully decline due to my previous plans.
I make my way to the secluded location; Hinata is waiting for me already with a blanket spread for us to sit on. We eat lunch silently, enjoying each other’s company and the sounds of nature around us. I lay back on the blanket and she sat next to me.
“Neji” she speaks quietly. I wait for her to continue but she blushes and pokes her fingers together
“Yes, Hinata?” when in privet we drop the honorifics, her idea six months ago, she said she did want me to feel caged.
“I love you…” I place my fingers under her chin to force her face closer to mine. I lightly brush a kiss across her lips. I pull back with a light blush on my cheeks and a slightly darker one on hers.
“And I love you.” She smiles then bits her lip, “what is on your mind?” I ask. Yes, I played off our first kiss and the first time we confessed our love as if it was the normal to keep Hinata from her nerves. Inside, my stomach filled with butterflies and I could feel my heart flutter and my blood pump faster. It was almost an addictive feeling.
“I was just thinking about what you and father talked about at breakfast this morning”
“About you and Uchiha?”
“About me getting married. I always figured I would be in an arranged marriage; I never let myself truly fall in love so I was never disappointed. Then, I realized I loved you…Neji, I’m scared to let you go.” Tears pooled in her eyes.
I wasn’t sure how to respond other than pulling her down so she could lie next to me. Even though she was shy, she cuddled against me.
“Neji, I don’t want my first time to be with someone I don’t love. P-please make love to me.” I didn’t know where this bold woman was coming from. This is the same person who would to faint when Naruto even looked her way.
Before I can continue with my thought, she rolls on top of me and crushes our lips together. I can feel her body tremble against mine; there is my shy little Hinata, however her boldness excites me.
I wrap my arms around her, holding her tight against my body as our kiss deepens. I lick her lips, and then take advantage of her gasp by slipping my tongue inside her sweet cavern. I found her quickly. I could tell she was crying, but she was being held by someone I know barely.
I mask my chakra and approach silently, “I care for him, and but he has only ever had eyes for her. We were dating, the one night he was holding me and fell asleep during a movie, he mumbled her name and pulled me closer and nuzzled my neck. Then I see them with his hand down her pants! Kankuro, how can I save him? If their clan finds out about them, they could kill Neji! He knows this, why is he being so stupid?”
“You don’t. He loves her and that is all that matters. The way she looks at him you can tell she loves him too. I think we should just leave them alone.”
I decided it was time to speak up, “He is right.” Both look up at me, Kankuro wasn’t shocked to see me but Tenten was. She began to furiously wipe her cheeks dry. “May I talk to my teammate a minute, alone? Could you escort Hinata-sama home; she should be crossing the grounds in a moment or two” Kankuro touches my teammates cheek before standing and walking away toward my love.
“Neji…I…” I cut her off by lifting my hand
“I appreciate your concern for my life. However, I would gladly die for her, if that is what is fated for us. We each have one soul mate during our earthly journey; I have found mine in Hinata. I have been in love with her since I was four years old. I tried to get over her long ago but, in truth, everything in my life has always and will always come down to her.”
“But…haven’t you always said about your hatred for main house? She IS main house. She could activate your seal and kill you just for sighing if she don’t want you to!”
I feel my anger rising, “You don’t know her if you think that is what she is like. She would NEVER do that. I have nearly killed her and she forgave me and loves me anyway.” I take a deep breath, “Rather you, as my friend, approve or not, she is the one I am fated to be with and this time I’m not going to even try to fight fate.” I walk away leaving her sitting there, probably still looking like a fish since I called her ‘friend’ which is not something I tell people lightly.
I decided that I needed to calm down my emotions. I lay on the hill surrounded by sweet smelling grass and I gaze at the clouds. I pull myself into a meditative state and release all the love, lust, anger, confusion, hurt and joy I have felt thus far today. I ended my meditation with enough time to get home and get cleaned up and dressed for dinner.
I greet my uncle as always, Hinata and Hanabi greet him as well. I had a feeling dinner was going to be long.
There was a knock at the door. One of the servants, Hiozuka, appeared before us carrying a scroll. “Hokage-sama sent this for Neji-sama” my cousin declares and hands me the scroll.
I break the seal, and unwrap my mission statement.
“Uncle” I kneel before him
“You may go. Just give me the details.” It was required I asked his permission for any missions longer than three days since I am the protector of the Heir and the Heir of the Branch House in my own right.
“Two months, basic reconnaissance with a 2 man team. A-rank, required to meet at the bridge in 45 minutes” He nods his acceptance and bids me to go pack.
2 minutes before I am set to leave a small knock comes at my door.
“Enter, Hinata-sama” I state without ever turning toward the entrance to my room. Sometimes there were bonuses to being in tune with her chakra.
“I wish you well on your mission. Make the Hy�ga proud, keep the village safe.” I turned and raised an eyebrow at her and the typical Hy�ga head speech.
“Sorry, it’s required.”
“I know it is.” I cross the distance and pull her into my arms for a quick hug and chaste kiss.
“Be careful, nii-san, and come home to me safely.”
I kiss her forehead “My heart and soul will always come back to the one I love, rather my body does or not”
“I love you, too. And please bring your soul and heart back with your body intact” she smiles, turning my words against me.
“I must go” I kiss her one last time, with a brushing of lips that promised to burn me in her mind forever. I pull back from her, grab my pack and head to the bridge where I meet the other member of my team, Uchiha Sasuke, I had no reason to hate the man anymore since he proved his loyalty to the Hokage, but I am still jealous that my uncle thought him suitable for my princess.
Putting all feelings aside, we head out on our mission.

~*~*~*~*~*~2 months later~*~*~*~*~*~
The village came into our sight. It’s been 2 long months since I last saw my beloved homeland and the love of my life.
“You go ahead and go where your heart lies, I will report in to the Hokage” I nod and head off toward the Compound thanking the fates that Uchiha didn’t say Hinata’s name out loud. I would have ignored him and went anyway to report with him but he hasn’t seen his lover in just as long as I haven’t seen mine. I figured they needed some alone time.
I went home for dinner, after my shower and reporting in to my uncle it was time for our evening meal. I discover the reason Hinata is not around, she is on a mission and should be back the evening.
The next morning I wake early and head out. I head to the training grounds to see if my former team is there since they were suppose to have gotten home last night. They may have been delayed though.
I begin to walk home casually when I hear the booming voice of my former sensei and my ‘eternal rival.’
“Neji-kun, tonight the former team Gai is going to bask in each other’s youthfulness together at my house. It will promote team bonding and share our powers of youth...”
“AND, Gai-Sensei is making his popcorn cake!!” Lee interrupts his master.
“I will make sure he is there on time, Gai-sensei” the unmistakable voice of Tenten cuts in.
Gai and Lee nod and run off screaming something about the power of youth compelling them to do something or other. I am a little preoccupied thinking about the last time I saw the woman in front of me.
“A lot has changed in the time you have been away.” I stay silent waiting for her to continue
“Well, I realized I have been in love for awhile and I found that Kankuro is the one who makes my heart beat. Kakashi-sensei is officially engaged to Sakura now. And Shikamaru is in love with the Kazekage Gaara and Temari is with Sai!” I raise an eyebrow at her. She isn’t the typical woman but she does gossip on occasion and it can be annoying.
Sensing my annoyance she continues “Anyway, I have made an attempt to become friends with Hinata. You were right, Neji. She is the probably easiest person in the world to get along with.” I smirk and she continues “Anyway, she has been staying at my place once a week. I have come up with a way you can be with her tonight even though we are supposed to be at the sleepover.”
“You plan on skipping out?” I ask almost skeptically, she usually isn’t like that
“Yes, well I am in love with a man who is from another village and can only stay away a few nights a month and he is here tonight. I would like to spend as much time with him as I can before we are kept up all night by a little bundle of joy.” I activate my Byakugan and notice the second distinct chakra pooling in her abdomen, its faint but there none the less, she isn’t far along, and I wonder how she knows.
“Hinata told me before she left for her mission when we were training. She just got home by the way, you missed her checking in.” she offers apparently reading my mind, “Anyway; you know how Lee and Gai love to play games, so if we can get them to play hide-and-seek we can sneak off to my apartment where Hinata and Kankuro will be. She is going to say she is going to stay at my place and if anyone asks you can say you are going to stay the night with Kankuro”
“Alright, I will meet you here at 6:30.”
I turn and continue to walk and finally reach the compound. I am greeted by the guards as I walk through the gate. I walk around the back of the main house to jump into my window instead of dealing with everyone when I see her standing on her balcony. The wind ruffles her violet-black hair as she stares out into the tree line.
She was on the second story so jumping up wasn’t a problem. I wrap my arms around her, pulling her back to me, and I place my chin on her shoulder. She smiles softly as she relaxes into my hold. She tilts her head to the side, exposing her neck to me.
Taking advantage, I bury my face into the juncture of her neck and shoulder, kissing and inhaling the scent of lavender with a slight hint of sweat and dirt. She gives a small moan and I pull back.
“How was your mission?”
Successful but now I must go report in to father.” she says
“See you tonight” with one more quick kiss I jump to my balcony.
I make it back to my room and shower, it was nearly 6:30 when I was done so I grab an apple from the kitchen and head to the designated meeting location. A storm was brewing on the horizon, so the night was eerily calm.
Tenten is waiting for me. She is wearing a nice pair of black slacks and a white silk shirt without sleeves and a Chinese style neckline, it is embroidered with blue. I am simply dressed in my loose white shirt paired with black pants.
We walk quietly toward Gai’s, each contemplating the night ahead. We run into Lee on his way, he was dressed in his usually jumpsuit. At 7:00pm exactly we stepped onto Gai’s porch, Lee knocked on the door.
“It’s open!” we heard call from the other side of the door.
We entered his apartment and the smell of burnt popcorn hung heavy in the air.
“Gai-sensei” Tenten called “Is everything okay?”
“It is fine, there was just a small explosion of youth in the kitchen. Roll out your beds, I will be in shortly!” Gai hollered. I fought a small shutter as I visualize the trademark Gai smile and ‘nice Guy pose number 4’
“What game shall we play tonight my youthful companions?” Lee asked, Tenten and I nodded as we laid out our bedrolls and sat upon them.
Lee’s was pulled next to the couch where Gai would be sleeping. My female teammate and I pulled ours together against the far wall. “Popcorn cake is ready whenever you want some!” Gai proudly declared as he walked into the room. We all went to the kitchen to grab a slice of Gai’s specialty.
Even though I am not one for sweets, the popcorn, chocolate, caramel and powdered sugar was not something I could easily avoid. After all sweet tooth’s were sated Gai decided it was time to start with the now usual card game-drink/strip poker. We had to take a drink of sake when we lost except Lee; he had to strip because of his lack of alcohol tolerance. I still don’t know how we decided that he needed to strip, I for one don’t want to see him naked, and I think it was Tenten’s idea. Fortunately, it never bothered Lee because the most he ever lost was his socks.
After 7 hands, Gai was looking a little tipsy, Lee had lost his ankle weights, Tenten and I had yet to lose so were sober as birds. During the 8^th hand Lee stole a sip of my sake. I knew it was time and gave Tenten the ‘let’s get out of here look’ and she giggled.
“How about we change the game? Let’s play ‘hide-and-seek’ throughout the village, we hide you two seek?” Tenten offered.
“I do not know. It would be safer to stay inside” Gai slurred
“But we are j�nin, and how else to train and hone our youthful ninja skills of finding an enemy in the dark” I offered quickly
“Gai-sensei they are right!”
“Yes, the power of youth is strong in our group! It compels us to test ourselves all the time!” Gai stood “You have until we count to 28376592837592836745243629570!”
“1, 2, 3”
Tenten grabbed my hand and we ran out of the house.
We headed to her apartment; she opened the door and plopped on the couch where I join her after removing my shoes.
“They must not have arrived yet” Tenten decided
“Yes they have. Hinata-sama you know you cannot hide from me, I know you are exactly 10 meters back and 3 to the side of my present location.” I put his hand out for her to grab when she came through the narrow hallway next to the couch.
My violet haired woman came around the corner and grabbed the hand I extended before her. I pulled her across my lap. Hinata was followed by a tall figure with dark clothing and a face nearly covered in face paint.
Kankuro grabbed Tenten’s hand and pulled her up. He whispered “Let’s give them some alone time, I need to be with you” they headed for her room.
I held Hinata close, my breath fanned across her skin, my lips barely touching her ear. It had been too long since I last held her, well only a few hours but it felt like an eternity. I felt her remove my headband and kissed my seal, the thing that linked us at the beginning.
She pulls back and smiles softly at me, “I missed you” she whispers
Instead of responding I press my lips to hers, trying to convey how much I missed her as well. She kissed back with such passion, it shot straight to my groin. She wiggled her hips on my lap bringing my manhood to full attention.
