This is the story to replace Kuro Ran that I have finished. I hope you guys like Neko Sasuke hybrids in long multi chapter fics with lots of fluff, angst and sex. A very cute SasuNaru pairing and yes it is in that order. Naruto is the submissive in the relationship. It is said that cat's own their owners and not the other way around. This is the basis for this story; I'll try and get some drawings out for this but for now I hope you guys enjoy the multi chapter fic. It's going to be very cute, lovable and filled with angst. Enjoy my Duckies: -------------------------------------- The winds were once again whispering their secrets to him; there were so many lost souls crying for help and release from their eternal prison. For Sasuke's sensitive ears it was torture and yet he still forced himself to listen to the cries. Sasuke knew that they were the souls the Uchiha Clan should have saved but couldn't. As the Neko Deity of Konoha they were charged with the protection of the village. Cat ears; the colour of the darkest night - shimmered a deep midnight blue as they easily swivelled in every direction to follow the sounds the wind made as it bounced around the shrine he called home. Sasuke's tail was swishing behind him in annoyance; his brother Itachi was once again in a secret meeting with their father and Sasuke felt his ears droop at that thought. He always felt so left out. The wind caressed his skin and Sasuke relaxed; sitting on the railing of a very high ledge on Konoha Mountain. No one knew of their existence except the families that were under their protection directly and Sasuke felt tired of the shrine; he hadn't left here for forty years and he was getting bored. He hated the fact that he never grew out of his sixteen year old image. Some Neko deities stopped growing in their twenties; the younger their eternal gene kicked in the stronger they were considered and Sasuke was at the moment considered the youngest that held the most potential power but had to develop it. Sasuke's ears perked at the sound of approaching footsteps and his fingers curled around the railing to keep him steady and from not losing his balance when Itachi crept closer and brushed up against him. "Sasuke-chan! Father wants to see you. Nya." Sasuke hissed in annoyance; his tail puffing up to twice its size just as Itachi pressed up against him and bit his ear harshly. A small whine escaped his lips; he hated when Itachi showed his dominance over him in that manner yet he always submitted. It was best to not challenge the Shrine Heir as he knew in the Heavenly Realm they lived in; it would be frowned upon if he were to so much as step out of line. With some difficulty he climbed to his feet careful to balance himself on the railing that looked over a steep cliff; his enjoyment of high places was a bit abnormal but Sasuke merely shrugged it away. It was the best way to listen to the sorrowful cries that the wind always projected and look over the world that they so carefully protected from the dangers of demons and creatures of the night. "So cute Sasuke. Hurry though. You have a special mission that Dad is giving you." A special mission? He could hardly wait... "Nya." Sasuke grunted as he leapt from the railing and headed to the interior of the shrine; the bell tied to his tail rung pleasantly in his ears. The silver bell had been a present from his Mother before she had died several centuries ago and Sasuke had yet to take it off. Such was the sentimental value it held for him. The bow was the darkest of blue silk and the bell was infused with Kaa-sama's magic and it always made him feel comfort when he was feeling depressed or broody. 'This will be our little secret Sasu-chan; you are my beloved kitten and I will always be with you. Never take it off; nya.' Sasuke smiled sadly at that memory; it had been his birthday that day and he would never forget the smile he had been gifted with and the playful nip to his ear as the bell was tied to his tail. That had been the last thing she had ever given him before she had died. No one had expected a Neko Deity to die at the hands of a jealous clan member. Sasuke was still torn up about her death; she had been his closest friend and confidant and had always been there for him when he was afraid, sad or even just playful. Sasuke remembered how he used to curl up to her form during the midday sun and slept for hours on end wrapped up in her tail as she sung to him softly. A clawed hand wiped furiously at his eyes to make sure there were no tears there; Sasuke didn't want to show his vulnerability to anyone much less himself and he hated the fact that he could still tear up at a single thought of his dead mother. With a shake of his head Sasuke moved towards the inner shrine; his dark blue silk yukata trailing behind him as he increased his speed. He didn't want to disappoint his father by being late. If anyone was to look for him they would only see a streak of blue and black and the sound of a beautiful bell that resounded around his moving form. ~ Sasuke came to a screeching halt in front of the elaborate shoji doors; his footsteps were quiet on the floors but Sasuke hesitated before sliding open the doors. Afraid that he had done something to displease his father. Sasuke lived to please his father and sometimes he still felt as if he was useless; would he ever be acknowledged by those he loved the most? With a sigh Sasuke steeled himself before he walked into the room; preparing himself for either his father's anger or disappointment. "There you are Sasuke." Sasuke snapped up his head; dark eyes meeting with his father's stoic features before bowing his head in submission - ears drooping and his tail wrapping around his waist. Sasuke knelt on the floor before his father's form; eyes snapping up at the chuckle that resounded through the room. It was uncharacteristic for his father to laugh never mind chuckle so delightfully. Something was very wrong. "Itachi got to you didn't he?" Sasuke frowned; his father always knew how to tease him mercilessly as the elder Uchiha knew exactly how much Sasuke hated to be dominated by the Uchiha heir. Yet for him to bring it up in a formal meeting meant that he was trying to avoid the content of the reason why he called Sasuke here. "Calm down Sasuke. Your ears can't droop anymore and nor can your tail fluff out more." Sasuke looked up; eyes meeting with the imposing figure of his father. Fierce red eyes, a long tail and ears that were trained forward and those crossed arms made him look so much severe than Sasuke knew his father was. The elder Uchiha had a soft spot for his children, especially for Sasuke even though Sasuke was never really aware of it. Sasuke flinched under the gaze of the Sharingan; it was frightening to him to know the power Fugaku held in one single gaze. "Relax Sasuke; I'm not going to hurt you. I have a new mission for you." Sasuke's ears perked; a mission? Was he finally allowed to leave the Realm? He was interested now; he had always wanted to visit the human world. His tail swished behind him; the bells ringing out around him in his anticipation. "I know you've taken Mikoto's death hard Sasuke and I also know of the love you hold for Konoha itself. Since Itachi is set to work here for the time being I am pushing this mission onto you; you will be perfect for it." Sasuke nodded; his mind spinning with all the things he could do once he was in Konoha. "Don't look so eager Sasuke; it makes me think that you don't love me enough to want to stay here." Fugaku said with another chuckle and Sasuke reeled; his father had chuckled twice and he was making jokes? Something must either be going really well or something very troubling had happened. Sasuke turned serious eyes to his father; a thousand words passed between in that single moment where their eyes were connected. So Sasuke had been right; Fugaku was worried about something. "One of my good human friends were murdered last night. Sasuke; he left behind a sixteen year old child; I need you to look after him and protect him like I couldn't protect Minato. He means a lot to me as I am sure little Naruto will become your world. I am not going to lay down the rules because with a Namikaze it is never possible to stick to the rules. If you want to reveal your true form to your ward then do so; just be careful Sasuke. The Human Realm is a very different place from the Heavenly Realm. Protect Naruto. Become his companion and you may discover love for yourself." Sasuke listened to his father's words intently; one of Papa's friend's had been murdered? How was that possible? Sasuke knew that Fugaku always had several intricate protection Jutsu spun around those who he considered important to him. From his words; this Minato person must have meant a lot to his father so how could he have been killed? "How was he killed?" Sasuke asked; his ears drooping. His own emotions were jumping all over the place; he wasn't sure exactly what he should be feeling. Sadness for his father's loss or anger for the person who dared to infringe on the property of the Uchiha Clan. "That's the second reason I am sending you Sasuke; you have the most analytical mind of all of us. Nothing escapes your observation and you also have an affinity to the wind element; it means you can pass on messages easily to me when you find something without it being traced back to you. This mission is going to be hell for both you and your ward; Sasuke. I am warning you now; you've never been surrounded by so much raw emotion and pain and all I ask is that you give affection and love as much as you can whilst trying to solve the mystery that surrounds the death of Namikaze Minato." Sasuke nodded; bowing lowly to his father in acceptance of the mission. If there was someone who was calling out in anguish and pain he would do his best to sooth the pain that the person lived through. "Remember, no one ever takes away something that the Uchiha family holds dear and if you find the culprit Sasuke I give you permission to use lethal force." "Hai; Tou-sama." With a finally look at his father Sasuke bowed and left the room. He would carry out this mission at all costs. Reminding himself that he also possessed the fierce pride of the Uchiha clan and no one so much as touched their possessions and got away with it. He could hardly wait to take out his katana again... ----------------------------------- Rain splashed all over his clothes as Naruto moved through the streets of Konoha; his shoulders were slumped and no one would be able to see the pain that he hid behind blue eyes as wet blond bangs obscured his pain filled eyes from the world. The last few days had been hell for him; his mind still reeled with all the questions that the detectives, police and even lawyers asked and now Naruto knew that he could return home but no one would be there to greet him or make him something to eat. He was now soaked through but he didn't care; standing beneath the pouring rain as he refused to enter the home that had once belonged to him and his father. "Ne Tou-chan; why did you leave me?" Naruto asked as he sobbed brokenly. Pressing his back against the door and sliding to the wet ground. Four days. It had been four days since he had lost his most precious person, his father. His father had been the only one he had left after his mother had died several years ago in a brutal car accident. As always his question went unanswered; there was no happy smile to reassure him that things would be alright again. No embrace to bring comfort to the constant stream of tears that spilled from his eyes; there was nothing left. How long he sat in the rain Naruto didn't know but even when he eventually heard the sound of a car Naruto didn't look up. He couldn't; he didn't want to talk to another policemen or detective. He was too exhausted to think; too fatigued to even move from where he was and even when he heard footsteps he made no attempt to move. "Naru-chan?" Blue eyes glazed in tears finally snapped up; his heart leaping into his throat as another bout if sadness wracked through his body. "Uncle Kashi?" Those sad mismatched eyes; that familiar smile and the sadness that was wrapped around the silver haired man was making fresh sobs spring forth as Naruto's body shook violently. He felt strong arms encircle him as Kakashi kneeled before him; the familiar smell of earth and smoke invaded his senses. He finally lost control of his emotions; pain breaking his heart all over again. The little concerned noises and little whispers that Kakashi made was enough for Naruto to finally allow himself to relax in familiar arms as he just let go. "I came as soon as I heard but I got caught up in Tokyo; will you forgive me for not being here earlier to support you?" Naruto sniffled as he gave a nod; all that mattered was that his uncle was there now and he wasn't alone anymore. Gentle fingers carded through his hair before Kakashi helped him to his feet with a tug of his hand. Naruto stumbled a bit; feeling suddenly dizzy but pushing it aside as he was led towards the sleek black car that belonged to uncle. "Are you hungry?" Naruto nodded solemnly; he hadn't eaten since yesterday and even then it wasn't much as he was too filled with grief to even think of finishing a plate of food. His stomach rumbled and Naruto really did feel hungry and it was quite the appetite that he wanted to sate. "Do you want ramen at Ichiraku's?" Naruto stilled at the name; biting his lip to keep the tears at bay and shook his head in denial. That place held too many memories and no matter how pleasant they were Naruto was not ready to deal with them. Knowing that he would never get to spend a single day with his father; laughing over bowls of ramen as they raced to see who would eat the most in the shortest amount of time. Leaning his head against the cool glass of the window; Naruto drifted through the flashes of horrifying images that became his reality mere days ago in the home he shared with his father. That had been the night the Namikaze family was shattered to pieces and Naruto couldn't breathe properly, his heart was broken and his emotions were scattered all over the place. "Since you don't want ramen how about some traditional food?" Naruto nodded absently; anything would be fine as long as it didn't remind him of the sunshine he had lost in his life. When the car came to a stop Naruto moved as if on autopilot; Kakashi was constantly talking to him but Naruto wasn't listening. He was afraid that if he did he would hear something he didn't want to or could break his soul into more pieces. "Naruto!" Naruto jerked; the piece of sushi falling from his chopsticks in his fright. His breath hitched at the narrowed glare that was directed at him. It was never a good thing to upset Uncle Kashi... "Good; now that I have your attention." Naruto shivered as Kakashi angered expression turned to an openly smiling countenance in a few seconds. Naruto knew that Kakashi had just played with him but he pouted with anger. "Don't do that!" He yelled. Naruto was always very sensitive towards other's emotions and when anger was directed at him it made him feel small and afraid. It was wrong of Kakashi to so much as use it against him. "As I was saying; I'm taking you back to Tokyo with me." Naruto stopped breathing. Had he just heard right? Uncle Kashi was taking him to Tokyo? Naruto didn't know if he should be afraid, happy or even relieved. Was Kakashi really going to look after him or just hire a nanny to do that? "When?" Naruto asked softly. Blue eyes averted in sadness, he didn't know if he wanted leave Konoha. So many happy memories were here just as his friends - the few that he trusted - were also here in Konoha. Would it be alright to move to the large city that was always bustling with activity and crime? Konoha was quiet and the perfect embodiment of a quiet country life; would it be alright to swap it for the fast paced life in the large city? "In a week." Naruto nodded solemnly; at least Kakashi was giving him an opportunity to say his goodbyes and make his decision. ~ Naruto shivered in the cold; the only light in the room came from a single oil candle that was almost burned out. One of his father's books were resting in his hands; his father had been a prominent fantasy writer just as his grandfather had been a famous erotica writer. Tou-chan's work was always his favourite to read as the stories could always make him cry or even laugh and every single published work was always dedicated to him. Like the one in his hands now - Darkness of the Wind - the dedication page read: 'To my dearest ball of eternal sunshine; this one's for you. Keep it close to your heart and remember I love you and always will.' Naruto hugged the book to his chest; trying to remember what an embrace from Tou-chan felt like. That book had been published mere weeks ago; Naruto could still remember how his father had come rushing into his room at six in the morning with the first printed copy. Naruto felt tears roll over his cheeks in grief; he had yet to read it. He felt as if he should have done it a long time ago but his life had gotten in the way. "Naruto? Go to sleep; it's late." Naruto dragged blue eyes up to stare at a bleary eyed Kakashi standing by the frame of his now open shoji door. Naruto frowned he hadn't even heard the shoji doors slide open nor could he remember if he had closed them in the first place. He really didn't want to go to sleep but the darkness of the night sky told him that it was late; possibly past midnight and he really should get to bed. Kakashi had told him that tomorrow was going to be a long day and he needed his strength. Yet; Naruto was afraid to go to sleep somehow knowing that his dreams would be rife with nightmares... "Do you want Pakkun to sleep with you?" Kakashi asked concerned. He could see the distress lighting Naruto's beautiful features as tears rolled over scarred cheeks continuously. It was disconcerting to see his nephew show so much sadness and fear. He felt as if there was nothing he could do to help Naruto except offer him support and maybe the presence of his pug. Kakashi had no idea what would be enough to get Naruto calmed down enough to get a good night's rest but at the negative shake of a blonde head Kakashi sighed. Naruto was just as stubborn as Minato and if Naruto didn't want a companion to warm his bed then that was that. Turning on his heal Kakashi said a final goodnight as he headed for his own room. There really wasn't anything more he could do. Lightning and thunder was harsh as a heavy storm descended on Konoha but Naruto took no notice as he put down his father's book with trepidation and finally settled back down into his futon. He was regretting not taking Kakashi up on his offer to let Pakkun sleep with him. The cold of his empty room and the silence of the empty home was grating on his nerves and made his sadness spike; with a sigh he turned on his side and closed blue eyes behind creamy eyelids as he forced his thoughts to the side and willed himself to sleep. --------------------------- Sasuke scowled; he absolutely hated water and the pouring rain was soaking through his black fur. He hated being in his compressed cat form but it was the best way to get close to Naruto without revealing his identity too soon. His tail swished behind him in annoyance as he sat at the top of a lamp post and expanded his senses; feeling for the warm spike of pure innocent chakra that his father had told him belonged to Naruto alone. "Meow." He hissed to himself as a brush of light, warm and innocent chakra flitted against his black fur. Sasuke had found his target and so with an impressive leap he bounded across the roofs; the soft pads of his feet making it easier to jump from roof to roof. The sound of his bell echoing his urgency; he could already feel the immense emotions swirling in Naruto and it was frightening for him to know the pain a single person could be forced to live with. After five minutes Sasuke finally came to stop in front of the second story windowsill. Sharingan red eyes observing the person sleeping inside and suddenly felt his breath hitch. 'Absolutely beautiful.' He thought to himself. That chakra was definitely the one Fugaku had described to him but it was Naruto's beauty that made him stop in his tracks. He had never seen a single human that was so pure and looked so much like a real ray of sunshine. Unconsciously Sasuke clawed at the window and meowed incessantly; he could feel the nightmare that Naruto was experiencing and it was breaking his heart. He didn't want this beautiful person to so much as experience any form of pain; he was there now. Naruto was his to protect and look after. There was no way he was going to let Naruto live through this alone. When his noises failed to jolt Naruto from his nightmares he threw himself against the glass and made the loudest noise he could; his heart jumping when he saw the purest of blue eyes shoot open to lock with his. He clawed at the glass and whined; he wanted to come in. The moment Sasuke felt the window open and warm hands scoop up his soaking body against a warm chest; he couldn't help the purr that escaped him. "Silly cat; you don't go banging on windows. You nearly gave me a heart attack." Fingers petted behind his ears and Sasuke melted into the touch. It felt so nice. "For now though; let's get you dry. It's not good to stay out in the rain." Sasuke was happy right where he was; his tail swishing behind him as the bell rang around him. Naruto's chuckle made Sasuke's heart swell. It was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. Sasuke shuddered as a fluffy towel rubbed his black fur dry; he couldn't help but arch into the touch. It felt so good. "Meow." He whined softly; brushing up against Naruto when the towel was taken away. He wanted more but purred immediately when he felt Naruto scratch behind his ears and stroke his fur. "You are absolutely beautiful; your fur is the deepest of black that it actually shimmers blue. You know that reminds me of a character in my father's books. Yes; the son of Uchiha Fugaku. Sasuke. I'll call you Sasuke." Sasuke was a bit frightened that Naruto had guessed his name but he meowed his accent and curled in Naruto's arms. There was plenty of time to worry about how Naruto knew his and his father's name later; right now he was feeling too lazy and tired o care much. "We better some sleep; Uncle Kashi is taking us out tomorrow." Before Naruto could finish his sentence Sasuke had curled up on one half of Naruto's pillow; staring at Naruto incredulously until the blonde scratched behind his head in embarrassment before laying down. Sasuke nodded to himself; rubbing against Naruto's cheek as he purred his enjoyment. "Ok Sasuke; I like you too but we really should get some sleep." ------------------------------- Thanks for reading and please let me know if you enjoyed the prologue to this story.
