Sasuke made his way to the kitchen, silent and stealthy like any good ninja. The four year old climbed up on the counter taking out a bowl then back down stealing some of the left over chicken and putting it in the bowl. He looked around to be sure he was still unnoticed then slid outside, leaving the back door open just in case he needed to run back to safety… not that he was scared. He was a ninja and an Uchiha and they did not get scared but it was better to be safe. So he padded down the stairs into the soft grass then the packed sand to the small garden shed. Once the door was opened and closed again he turned with a bright smile. “I brought chicken!” He whispered loudly. In response a bright red tail flicked back and forth and pointed ears flicked.
Fugaku Uchiha listened as his youngest tried his best to be sneaky. Moving down the hall to the kitchen, into the cabinet getting down a dish, into the fridge and out to the garden shed, leaving his back door wide open. It hadn’t taken a genius to figure out what his son was hiding in the shed. For three days now Sasuke had been asking if he could have a dog. He was of course refused at every request but it hadn’t stopped the boy from asking. Deciding enough was enough Fugaku stood and moved toward his garden shed. He’d let the animal free and deal with his youngest child.

Minato Namikaze paced his office. As Hokage he was expected to keep a town full of people and ninja safe. How was he to keep them safe when he couldn’t even keep his own son safe? He was hopeful that his son was just playing a very long game of hide & seek. How on Earth a three year old managed to cause so much trouble he would never understand. He was more than a little sure that this was the boy’s mother’s legacy. The ANBU had been on the lookout for him but still no tell tale chakra flares, no ransom notes, nothing at all to make it clear his precious ball of sunshine was even still alive. Just as his thoughts were diverging toward the very worst and his heart began to sink, there was an immense flare of dangerous and spine tingling familiar chakra. Bounding through his own office window, Minato rushed toward the flare, hope sending the blood flooding through his veins.

Throwing the door open, Fugaku Uchiha glared his fiercest glare at his youngest boy before ice water raced through his veins. Sitting on the floor next to his sweet chibi was the demon child. The Hokage’s boy was tainted and bore the external signs of the evil that pulsed within him. “Sasuke, get away from that!” He hissed stepping back when the red fur covered ears flicked and the kitsune began to growl in warning.
“It’s just a puppy Daddy. He won’t hurt you.” Glaring when the puppy growled, Sasuke did as his brother did and flicked his little forehead. “Bad Dobe! Don’t growl at Daddy.”
Fugaku felt the presence of the ANBU only moments before the Hokage himself dropped silently to his side. “Get your mongrel away from my son and off my land.”
“NARUTO!” Sweeping the boy up into his arms Minato sagged in relief. “He’s been missing for three days Uchiha! Kidnapping my son is treason.” Naruto whimpered, teary blue eyes pleading with his father to not be angry. “Its ok Naru-kun, Daddy’s got you.” He whispered pressing kisses to his son’s now bent ears.
“That is MY Doggy! I found him. You can’t take him. He came to me and I kept him and fed him and I named him.” Sasuke stood straight, glaring at the tall blond who currently appeared to be trying to steal his puppy. “Give me back my Dobe!”
“S’ke dis is my Daddy. Shhh. I come back and play wif you ‘marrow.” The little blond promised with a bright smile. The black haired boy’s mouth opened wide and he blinked in shock.
“Puppy’s don’t talk.” Looking to his father for confirmation, he received a nod then glared at the blond. “Puppy’s don’t talk.”
Rolling the overly bright blue eyes Naruto screwed up his face. “Dat’s why I dinna talk till now, but I can nod play anymore. I gotta go home with Daddy now. And I want ramen! I’m tired of icky chicken and vegetables.” Laughing loudly and hugging his precious boy close Minato nodded to Fugaku.
“I won’t press charges this time, but why doesn’t Sasuke come play at the mansion instead from now on? At least that way I can be sure Naruto doesn’t end up locked in any more garden sheds.” Minato left then, bounding off to the roofs before Fugaku Uchiha could respond.
“Sasuke, get inside now. We need to have a talk.” He growled storming back into his home.
