A/N: Hey everyone. Ok so the inspiration for this just came to me suddenly and I couldn’t not write it down. I know I have another story that I’m currently writing but my muses have temporarily left me so I’m kinda stuck on that one. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Anyway I hope you enjoy it! Reviews make me so happy!

It was cold; so cold that he couldn’t feel his feet and yet the coldness surrounding him was nothing compared to the coldness that dwelt within his heart. That bitter chill was all-consuming and flooded his brain with a white fog that left no room for conscious thought. It was all he knew now and the worse thing was that he didn’t mind it. Anything was better than the burning agony that he had felt before. This was all there was left of Uchiha Sasuke.
And yet, something was still aflame within him. Something still pulled at his heart, trying to warm him and melt the ice engulfing it. Every so often, an image would flit across his mind; an image he had tried to erase on more than one occasion yet it still remained, torturing him. The image of a blond angel with the clearest, brightest blue eyes that could see through to your very soul. The mesmerizing smile, the tanned skin and the husky voice that he heard all to often in his dreams; the voice that banished the demons and saved him from the darkness.
But there was no one to save him from that darkness anymore. His blond saviour was no longer there. Sasuke had pushed him away, tried to kill him and held him in disdain for trying so hard to take him home when they both knew that there was no home for the raven to return to. He had destroyed it, he had destroyed his chance of ever finding happiness, of having a chance to stay with the kitsune that had stolen his heart.
And it all seemed for nothing now. He had done everything that he said he would do. He had gotten stronger under Orochimaru’s teaching, then killed the snake and continued in his quest for revenge. But that revenge, once tasted, wasn’t as sweet as he had once thought it would be. It was laced with the regret of having killed the only true family he had left, despite what the older Uchiha had done. And once Uchiha Madara had told him the truth of the Uchiha massacre, that regret had filled him with a red-hot agony that burned all traces of hate from him. All that was left was regret, sorrow and pain. The pain; it was everywhere, it wouldn’t leave him be. Once it became too much to handle, and he had thought that he would go mad, the cold had settled in and, while it protected him from that burning that had consumed him, he lost another part of himself. He no longer had ambitions, feelings or thoughts. All he had left were the dreams of a blond who was the only light that he could see. Images of a better life that he could have had were all he saw as he walked through the wilderness, with no destination in mind other than his own death. With nothing to live for, that was all that was all he do. Wait for Death to claim the last Uchiha for his own.
Through the white fog, only one thing registered. A voice calling his name……
“Sasuke!……Sasuke!” Well, the irony was laughable. Not only would be haunted by the image of the blond kitsune, but his voice was destined to be the last thing that the raven heard.
“Hn…” A small smiled tugged at the dark-haired youth’s lips as he fell, gratefully, into the darkness, his mind, heart and soul filled with the light of Uzumaki Naruto.
“Itachi…….Itachi, wait!” He called to his brother through the fog, running, running desperately, trying to catch him. But no matter how fast he ran, he got no closer and Itachi was fading away, leaving him behind. “No! Please wait! Please don’t leave me alone again!” he yelled, tears streaming down his face. Itachi didn’t answer, he just smiled but he was no longer fading. It seemed like he was waiting, waiting for Sasuke to come closer. The younger Uchiha ran with everything he had, wanting to see his brother, feel him one last time before the inevitable happened and he lost him again. He came within an inch of his brother’s presence when he was suddenly stopped, as if a wall existed between the two of them. The raven screamed and fought against the invisible restraint that denied him the contact he craved.
“Otouto, stop now. It’s not possible that the two of us will be allowed to remain like this, we have very little time left. Do not waste it by fighting something that is beyond your control. Look at me, Otouto.” The sound of his brother’s quiet voice calmed Sasuke and he ceased his struggling as he looked up into the face so like his own. The eyes that had held the Mangekok Sharingan, blazing with power and strength, were no more; in their place were the eyes he remembered as a young boy. The eyes of a big brother, full of warmth and delight as they regarded him, coupled with a small smile that clearly spoke of love.
“Aniki…” he breathed into the space separating them, “Aniki, please…” He did not wish to beg; he was an Uchiha and Uchiha’s never begged for anything but the thought of being left alone again was unbearable. “Aniki, please don’t leave me. I’m so sorry for what I did, if I had known, it never would have happened! But please-”
“Otouto,” Itachi’s smile widened as he held up his hand, halting Sasuke before he could say any more. “There is no need to apologise, in fact, I should be the one apologising. I should have told you the truth but that would have resulted in something much worse. No one is to blame for this; it was simply meant to happen. But I do have to thank you. You saved me from the life of hell I’ve been living since that fateful day, you released me and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you, Sasuke.” The young Uchiha felt tears slide down his face as he listened to his brother’s words. He was thanking him for killing him and, although Sasuke still felt it wrong, the pressure around his heart lessened slightly.
His head dropped to hide the tears that he couldn’t seem to stop only to snap back up when he heard his brother give a small chuckle. “Sasuke, Otouto, it was destined that I would die but your life is far from over. You still have so much to live for.” He smiled at the look of disbelief on his younger brother’s face. “Oh yes, you may not believe it but, if you wake up soon, you’ll see one of the reasons for you to live.” The young raven shook his head violently.
“No. I don’t want to wake up. I want to stay with you.” Itachi smiled as he lightly tapped Sasuke’s forehead. The young Uchiha’s eyes widened as he realised that his brother had been able to touch him and he tried to move closer only to be repelled once again.
“That is not possible, I’m afraid. You have to wake up. He’s waiting for you.” Sasuke frowned at this,
“Who’s waiting for me? What are you talking about?” Itachi only smiled again as he began to fade. The young raven gasped and reached his hand out to his brother, even though he knew it was not possible to stop him.
“If you just open your eyes, Otouto, you’ll see.” And he was gone. Sasuke gasped as he found himself once again alone in the fog. His breathing quickened and he began to panic.
“No….Aniki…..please, no,” his eyes searched desperately through the whiteness, “please don’t go, Aniki…….” He snapped his eyes tightly shut as he screamed.
“ITACHI!”
“Sasuke…”
“ITACHI!”
“Sasuke, it’s ok! Wake up!”
“ITACHI!”
“Sasuke! Wake up, Teme!” the raven eyes flew open.
“Naruto?…..” The white fog began to swirl around him as if it was disappearing into a whirlpool until all that was left was darkness. Sasuke resisted the feeling of falling, panic over-riding his senses. ‘This is a dream,’ he thought, ‘Itachi said I had to wake up.’ As if this thought had been the key, a white light appeared above him, beckoning him with warmth. Though he knew he was probably waking up to more pain, he welcomed it. To feel again, to have a chance to live, was what his big brother wanted for him. And so he forced his way through the suffocating darkness towards the light, finally breaking through with a blinding flash. A rush of emotions, thoughts and feelings poured through as though a dam had broken and it was all too much for the raven to take. He felt his eyes close as consciousness returned, his brother’s smiling face the last thing he saw.

Well, there’s the first chapter. I know it’s a bit short but that seemed like a good place to stop.
Thanks and hope to hear from you! ^.^
