I wrote this for a friend of mine over on y!Gallery and people liked it, so, here it is!

When Iruka turned twenty-seven, Kakashi gave his husband a female mackerel
tabby, saying that Iruka �needed something to cuddle when I�m not here� and �so
you won�t turn to another�. Iruka was thankful, annoyed that Kakashi would
think he�d leave if a mission happened to take too long, but thankful. When
Iruka was almost thirty, however, Sango managed to get outside and pregnant by
the time Kakashi found and brought her back home.

Soon realizing he would have too many felines to take care of, Iruka went
around with fliers and a stapler; on the papers were two things: in bold
lettering, �Cat About To Have Kittens, If You Want One, Call 918-2111,�
and a picture of a very pregnant Sango. Already knowing where two kittens would
be going, Iruka began making a list of who wanted a kitten and who would
actually be able to take care of it. After six long weeks, three kittens were
given to loving homes and two were put into a box with a warm blanket, which
was quickly delivered into Naruto�s waiting arms when Kakashi received a threat
of being stuck on the couch for a week.

I wonder if I could tie a bow around their tails, Naruto thought as he
looked at the small, furry bodies in his hands. It�d be easier to show that
they�re gifts. When Iruka had told him about how Kokumotsu, the
smoke-coloured cat that lived behind Iruka and Kakashi�s house, had managed to
get Sango pregnant, Naruto had asked if he could have two of the kittens once
they were old enough. Iruka agreed after being told the reason behind the
adoption, saying that it was a smart idea and that he hoped Sasuke liked them
too.

As he watched the kittens, Naruto noticed that the long-haired, orange-furred
tabby was squirming like a worm inside his hand and scarily reminding the young
adult of his younger self whenever Iruka managed to catch him after he had just
finished with a prank, knowing that he was about to lose his hearing.

The orange kitten�s sister, on the other hand, was a black, sleek kitty that
reminded him so much of his lover that he snorted as the wannabe-Uchiha tried
to claw her way out of his hold. The claws hurt, but only a little; he was used
to worse by now.

�Since I have to wait for Sasuke to return, I am going to name you�� he said,
placing the black cat down, ��Hibana.�

Naruto hummed as he watched the orange kitten he held play with her own tail;
since Hibana was somewhat representing Sasuke, why couldn�t he name his
miniature after something that represented himself?

Putting the kitten beside her sister, Naruto grinned. �And I�ll name you
Nuudoru after the world�s greatest thing ever!�

�Alright, for homework, I want you to practise
throwing shuriken! I'll see if you did tomorrow! Bye
everyone!�

As the last of his students left the classroom, Naruto easily unzipped his
Chuunin vest. He might be proud of becoming one but that didn't mean he was
always going to wear it. Green just wasn't his thing. Orange was, of course, but Old Woman Tsunade
had said nooooooo and who was he�

�Good afternoon, Naruto-sensei.�

Naruto blinked, before flashing a grin at his lover. The Uchiha smirked,
pushing himself away from the doorway, and made his way over to the blond
Chuunin. Moving closing, Naruto easily wrapped his arms around Sasuke�s shoulders,
pulling his head down for a quick kiss.

�Mm, I thought you weren�t supposed to be home yet.�

�Heh, and miss my birthday? You said you would have a surprise for me.�

Naruto smiled, rubbing his nose against Sasuke�s before stepping back.

�I do; it�s at home, though.�

Together, the two slowly made their way through Konoha, hands holding one
another as they talked about Sasuke�s mission and how relieved the Uchiha had
been when he had finally managed to drop off his client. Naruto grinned, nudging
his boyfriend�s shoulder, �Just how bad did she look?�

Sasuke�s mouth curled into a half-smile, mischief clear in his eyes. �She made
Tonton seem cute.�

Naruto was careful with entering into their apartment; Nuudoru had the tendency
to pounce on him as soon as he stepped inside. Why couldn't she be like Hibana?
Granted, the black animal acted like his lover a little too much, but she had
grown on him. It also didn�t help that the black kitten would soon join after
her sister in trying to pounce on him.

Naruto�s fingers twitched as he looked around his floor; so, they were hiding.
Softly, he spoke to the other man. �Did you eat yet? We don�t have much in the
fridge, didn�t get to go grocery-shopping yesterday, and we already know
what�ll happen if I give you ramen.�

He moved quickly toward his kitchen, making sure that he didn�t make a sound
with his feet, and opened a cupboard where a bag of kitten chow innocently
leaned against the side.

�Mehw!�

Naruto moved quickly, lifting himself onto their counter, before jumping back
out of the kitchen. A few seconds later, the blond was followed by a small
orange blur that he continued avoiding until a black blur joined in.

Naruto stopped, spinning to catch the kittens, and grinned down at the two
bundles of fur he held. �Good afternoon, girls. Get in any mischief, my little
noodle? Fight any birds, sparky?�

Nuudoru mewled, intentionally looking from his face to her food bowl; he knew
what she was trying to convey, but Naruto loved annoying the little bugger.
Hibana, on the other hand, just licked his cheek a few times before looking
over as the Uchiha walked closer. Her ears slid forward and she started
purring, drawing the attention of the other two who were still messing with one
another.

�What�s with the cats, moron?�

Sasuke questioned, raising his eyebrow as Hibana licked his fingers. He knew
that he wasn�t the greatest lover of animals, but, much like his mother, he had
always been fond of felines for some reason.

�The black one is Hibana and her sister is Nuudoru; I was going to get a cat
for your birthday, but I found myself wanting a kitten instead. After I
couldn't find any to adopt, Iruka told me about Sango�s pregnancy.�

Naruto smiled, carefully handing Sasuke�s miniature over, before continuing, �I
like the names; I wanted something that would fit, you know?� Sasuke nodded,
using his fingers to entertain the feline.

Moving back over to the kitten chow, Naruto leaned against the counter and
watched his lover with a grin. �Happy Birthday, bastard; hopefully, your tomato
plant manages to actually grow next time, hm?�
