“Naruto! Naruto!!”
Sakura cried as she held Naruto up and cradled him.
She looked at his chest and put her hand over the bloodied wound
across it, two inches away from the heart. He could have died on the spot if he
weren’t so lucky.
“...” Still, there wasn’t any answer from the now pale
blonde boy. “No... you c-can’t... leave us b-behind...
just like that,” the pink haired girl’s voice cracked.
Startled by the sudden hand placed on her shoulder, she
looked up. Her eyes widened. She broke into tears once again, shivering.
“Kakashi-sensei...”
Kakashi just stood there, watching the two of his beloved
students – one devastated and the other on the verge of death.
It was rainy that day. The sky was grey. Rain poured as if
crying on behalf of the pink haired girl. It didn’t look like it was going to
stop anytime soon.
“Sakura... We must have Naruto in the hospital as soon as possible
if we don’t want to lose him,” Kakashi gestured to Sakura. He carefully picked
Naruto up and dashed back to hidden village
of Konoha.
--
‘Mmmmfff... Where am I?’ Eyes
fluttered open to check the surrounding. The fox boy could hear someone talking...
no... someone shouting.
“He’s awake! Sensei! He’s finally awake!!”
‘Nnnnhhhh... I’m getting a
headache. Will you just shut up already?’ Feeling annoyed, the blonde realized
something wet and slimy on his nose. Just as his vision cleared...
“ARRRGGGHHHH!!!” He sat right up. “Oowwwww...”
“I advise you to just lie back. It’s gonna take a while for
you to recover.” The blonde teen looked over to source of the voice and there
stood Kakashi with his Icha Icha
Paradise, new explicit edition.
He threw his arm up, “Aah!
Kakashi-sensei! What are you doing here?” Then he scratched his head.
Somehow, he felt like he was being stared at. To his
surprise, he was surrounded by a bunch of worried looking teens.
“Sakura-chan!!!”
She was over the top when she saw Naruto awakened. “...Kiba, Ino, Chouji...
Shikamaru! Shino?”
“Yo.” The forever in dark shades
boy calmly replied.
“Neji and Hinata.” They both
nodded. Hinata blushed.
“Lee! TenTen.”
“Yosh, Naruto! No worries! We’ll
nurture you back to your usual youthfulness in no time!” He held out his
classic thumbs up and winked.
“Arff!”
“Whoaaa! Easy there, boy.” He held out his hands to stop the white
fluffy thing from licking his nose.
“Akamaru sure is happy to see
you,” Kiba snickered.
Naruto was surprised that everyone was there but... he
didn’t why. Did something happen?
“Ano ne... What actually happen?
You went ahead of us to pursue Sasuke and...”
“Sasuke?” He cut Sakura off. “Who’s
Sasuke?”
Everyone stared at Naruto and exchanged their surprise in
silence. Did he just ask who Sasuke was?
‘Why is everyone staring at me, surprised?’ Naruto wondered,
bringing his brows together.
“My, my. It’s getting late.
Everyone should head home and let Naruto rest, ne?”
Kakashi broke the awkward silence.
One by one, they bid Naruto goodbye and shuffled off.
Sakura, unable to move, was still staring at Naruto. When everyone was gone,
she strode towards Naruto.
“You were supposed to bring Sasuke back. Both of you were…,”
she hesitated before continuing, “…And now you’re asking us who’s
Sasuke?” She spoke slowly, a slight hint of anger lingered under her
breath.
“... Uh-huh...? So…”
Sakura was starting to freak out. Her breathing hitched as
she struggled for air. Kakashi rushed towards her and whispered, “Sakura,
calm... down,” holding her shoulders.
“What’s happening, Sensei? Why is
Naruto acting this way? Why doesn’t he remember Sasuke?”
“Shh... Let me handle the rest. Go
home and clear your mind first. I’ll explain to you tomorrow.” He led her to
out of the room, leaving a very confused fox behind.
--
“He’s probably suffering from temporary memory lost.”
“But, Tsunade-sama, why can he
remember everyone else except one person?” Kakashi demanded.
“Well, it could have been something... an event maybe...
that triggered his brain not to remember that is connected to it. In his case,
he doesn’t remember that Sasuke because he was too shocked and distraught about
what was happening or what happened. So, automatically, by choosing to erase
that boy out of his memory, he can avoid himself getting hurt,” the Hokage, who was a medic specialist explained.
“Aahh... I see...” Kakashi nodded.
--
“So, Kakashi sensei, who’s this... Sasuke guy?” the blonde questioned.
Kakashi didn’t know what to say or where to begin.
“He’s...,” he paused. “A friend of yours.”
He wasn’t sure if he should tell him more. He paused again. Shook
his head. ‘Nah... maybe not... yet.’
“A friend? So I was pursuing him?
Where did he go and why? I don’t seem to remember anything about him though.
It’s... weird... are you sure he’s my friend?”
Kakashi just nodded and smiled at the innocent looking
kitsune. “You should get some rest. I’ll come by tomorrow again. Ja!”
With that, Kakashi left the room. Giving up trying to
remember who this Sasuke was, Naruto looked out the
window. ‘Full moon tonight. Beautiful.
Nostalgic.’ He yawned and lied on his side. His eyes
felt heavy. He was off in dream land after a few minutes.
--
“Get out of my way.
You annoy me, dobe.”
“Nani? What
did you call me?! Don’t call me that, teme!” the smaller boy defended.
“Hn. So whatcha gonna do ‘bout it... dobe?” the taller boy smirked.
“Teme... Stop it!” The
blonde jumped on the raven haired and started punching him and pulling the
boy’s shirt. They both fought until a brunette man with high ponytail and a
scar marred across his nose bridge pulled them off by their shirt collars.
“Now apologize to each
other. Be nice.” The man scolded the boys.
“But he started it,
Iruka sensei!” the small kitsune whined and pouted.
“Hn.
Dobe.”
Both were stubborn and
just walked away. “Kids nowadays,” Iruka shook his head.
“Tell me about it.”
Iruka was taken aback by the voice.
“Kakashi...” he
blushed.
--
Naruto sat on the
roof. It was a peaceful night. Full moon dominated the deep rich blue, almost
black sky. The blonde could see the village quite clearly under the vivid
moonlight. Suddenly, he felt a presence approaching from behind. He turned his
head slightly to his left.
The raven haired boy
was now sitting next to him, staring at his blue eyes with his own pair of
black onyx ones.
‘What deep and sad eyes
he has. Just like... mine...,’ thought the blonde. ‘His hair is like the night
sky. His skin is so pale. He... he reminds me of... the moon. So beautiful….’
On the other hand,
Sasuke was contemplating the same. ‘What gentle yet sad eyes he has. Like
mine... His hair is so bright, even at night under the moonlight. His
complexion is like honey, unlike mine. He reminds me of... the sun. So warm….’
Unknowingly, both
small boys were an inch away from each other’s face. Some unseen force seemed
to draw them nearer. Closer and closer... Until their lips
touched. And... Snap! Back to
their senses.
“I’m sorry.” Both
spoke simultaneously. Startled, the raven and the blonde looked at each other,
paused, then burst out laughing.
“I’m Naruto, Uzumaki
Naruto.” The small kitsune held out his hand and beamed.
“Sasuke, Uchiha
Sasuke.” The raven, likewise, held out his hand and his lips curled... for the
first time in his life.
--
“Nnngghh...” The blonde squinted.
Streams of sunlight from the window shone in his direction.
“Weird dream...” he muttered under his breath. He recalled
the dream he had. Who was that kid? The name Sasuke somehow left him feeling...
nostalgic. It made him feel warm yet painful at the same time. It felt like having
his heart being stabbed by a knife over and over again while being kissed
passionately by his loved one. ‘Loved one?’ he mused.
As he fell deeper thoughts, images
of his childhood and everything that happened in his past started spiraling
into his mind causing a shock to his brain. “Nnnn... Arrggh!”
He bellowed, head almost bursting. Voices echoed in his head. He couldn’t take
it. He felt himself going crazy.
“Naruto. Naruto!!”
He froze, panting to catch his breath. He looked at the
familiar face. It was Tsunade. He blinked.
