I do not own any of these characters.
For a Favor is still in the works, I was just having some writers block and decided to try an AU. The plot's been done a million times but I thought it might inspire me. If people like it and review I'm going to keep this going. If no one reviews I'll know it's a waste of AFF space and I'll take it down in a few days. No harm done. :)~~~~
Sasuke glanced at his watch. Hinata's bus was running late and he hated this part of town. Where the hell was she? Sasuke cared about exactly one person in this world, and currently she was twenty minutes late. He knew Hinata could take care of herself (before she took up dancing she was one hell of a kick boxer) but that didn't keep him from worrying. They had only been out of High School for two months now, and the move to the big city was still fresh. Hinata was just too trusting. A child could kidnap her.Sasuke pulled his coat tighter around his body. It was getting dark earlier now, and the sun had dropped behind the clouds although it wasn't yet 8:00 p.m.
"Hey sailor, you lookin for a good time?"
Sasuke almost threw up in his mouth when he turned around. The woman asking him was 20 years his senior and looked liked she had been ridden hard and put away wet. Her bright pink lipstick was smeared and her voice was gravely and low.
"I'm not interested." He spoke and narrowed his eyes at her as he did just to make sure she understood exactly how uninterested he was. For a moment she actually looked hurt and Sasuke found that he felt bad about it. This woman was about the same age as his mother would have been and as much as he wanted to just turn around and walk away, he had been taught well enough by Hinata that everyone, even back alley hookers, deserved kindness and respect. Oh how Hinata had changed him with her friendship. He was no longer the aloof 13 year old that had so much to prove. He had grown into a man, who although some people might still call cold, was keenly aware of how important it was to not make people feel like they were beneath him.
"Sorry, Ma'am. I only like boys." It was the truth and he said it with such kindness that the woman actually melted a little before his eyes. Well, part of it was that he had sounded nice, but the other part was that he had stepped under the streetlight and she had seen how handsome he was. That happened to him so often that he had once considered wearing a mask or contracting some sort of flesh eating virus. If there was one thing he hated, it was having someone like him only for his looks... or his money.
"You wait right here! You wait RIGHT HERE! My master's got just the boy for you! He's been raised to do this since he was young so he's right good at anything you want. They keep him beat up too, so he's real easy-going."
"That's ok ma'am. I'm not really... That won't be necessary..."
She didn't hear him though because she was already scurrying down the street as fast as her high heels would carry her.
Shit. Where the fuck was Hinata. He pulled out his cell phone and called the Boys and Girls club where she volunteered on Sunday nights.
"Downtown B and G club, Rock Lee speaking. How may I help you?"
"It's Uchiha Sasuke. Is Hinata still there?"
"No, Hinata and the beautiful Sakura both left a few minutes ago. They were running late because someone suspicious was hanging around the door. I had to secure the area before I would allow them to leave. I walked them to the bus and stayed until they were on it safely. I would guess it will arrive at your stop in no more than 10 minutes."
"Lee, if I buy the club a van, would you use it to bring Hinata home to our building? This is the stop closest to our apartment, but it's not a nice area. If I were ever late, Hinata could be in danger."
"You've already been so generous, we have a whole new studio because of you. A van would be too much."
"Not having to wait at this damn bus stop would be priceless."
"We'll see. I must go Uchiha. Gai is locking up. Be safe."
Click.
Sasuke stared up the street. Get here. Get here. Get here. A light rain began to fall and Sasuke cursed his luck. Through the darkness and the mist he could see three figures approaching him and he knew that the old prostitute was one of them because he could hear the click clack of her high heels against the bricks.
Sasuke made a mental note to insist on the van. This wasn't turning out to be a good night.
"Hey sailor. Here he is." The older woman catcalled and stepped back to reveal a blond haired teenager.
The man in the group shoved the boy about his own age out to greet him. The boy looked horrified. He had terrible bruises all over his face and even what looked like a cigarette burn under his eye. He took a tiny step back, easing himself out of the harsh light of the street lamp.
"Please... my side hurts...one night off." The boy was looking up at the man in desperation and he spoke so quietly Sasuke had a feeling he wasn't meant to hear.
"Excuse us for a moment." The oily man said as he grabbed the boy and dragged him a little way down the street. This was possibly the most uncomfortable situation Sasuke had ever been in, and that included the time he was "outed" by Hinata's cousin Neji in front of the entire auditorium. He would gladly trade places with the younger version of himself right now because this was worse. Where was that damn bus?
He looked up the street and the three figure had disappeared around a corner. Praise providence they were leaving. Other than the gentle splashing of rain hitting the sidewalk it got fairly quiet and for the umpteenth time Sasuke stepped out into the street to try and catch sight of the elusive bus.
Damn it. Those three people were headed back up to him again. This time when they stopped the boy moved closer to him.
"I'm sorry, sir, for the way I acted before. I was just... I'd like to make it up to you." The boy sounded like he was trying to be seductive, but it just came out as pitiful. For the second time that night Sasuke thought he might throw up. The boy looked at him with pleading eyes and tried again.
"I'm not interested." He said coldly. This was unreal, it must be some kind of a con.
"I'll do anything you want. You can hurt me any way you want. I won't tell you no." This time the boy took a step closer to him and managed to get under the light.
He was beautiful. Well, he was beautiful if you could look past the bruises and the burn and the freshly bloodied lip. He had golden hair that was slightly shaggy below the ears and hauntingly blue eyes. He was on the small side and even though Sasuke had guessed he was 18 like him, it wouldn't surprise him if the boy were no more than 16. Although Sasuke had never in his life been inclined to buy sexual favors, he was oddly aware of a desire to own this angel.
"How much?" The words escaped his lips before he knew what he was even asking. The boy looked startled. Apparently he hadn't expected Sasuke to take him up on the offer.
"20 dollars for the night and you pay upfront. He's clean to. He just got tested yesterday. He can walk home in the morning so you won't need to worry about that either."
Sasuke was a little taken aback. This boy had promised to do anything he wanted, subjecting himself to a possible rape or beating at the hands of a stranger, and all he wanted was 20 dollars? He wouldn't even need to open his wallet. He carried twenties around as pocket change.
Damn it. Finally the bus was rolling in and now Hinata and Sakura were going to see this whole fucking transaction. This might be difficult to explain.
He handed the man a twenty and looked down the street in an attempt to make it obvious he should leave. The man handed Sasuke a slip of paper, tipped his hat a little and started to walk into the darkness.
"That's got my pager number on it. If this boy doesn't satisfy you like he promised, or if by some chance you beat him a little too bad and he isn't up for walking in the morning, you just give me a call. I'll take care of it. I look forward to doing business with you again."
The trashy woman took off after him.
"What's your name?" Sasuke needed to think up a story fast. The bus was coming to a halt right in front of them and he could see Hinata and Sakura both staring out the window, their faces matching pictures of horror. They had to be thinking the worst.
"What would you like it to be, master?" Once again the boy was trying to be seductive but it was more heart-wrenching than anything else.
"I would like it to be whatever your real name is. Cut this shit out, dobe, my roommate is getting off the bus and I want to at least know your name before I take you back to our apartment."
"It's Naruto." the blond boy said quietly before casting his eyes at the ground.
"Oi, Sasuke-kun. Who's that boy? Did you just BUY HIM????" Sakura shrieked loudly.
Sasuke could have murdered her where she stood. He shot her a withering glare.
"Get lost, Sakura. Try not to get mugged on the way home."
"Sasuke." Hinata whispered scoldingly. "We're walking Sakura home tonight, you know that. It wouldn't be safe for her to walk alone."
Sasuke was preparing his response, but luckily he didn't need one. At that very moment Rock Lee came running up the street.
"My beautiful Sakura. You're safe! Sasuke had me worried when he called so I ran over to accompany you home." As he reached her he swept her up in his arms and spun her around.
Sakura blushed but didn't push him away. She had long since given up on Sasuke, and she finally had a man who adored her as much as she had adored her first love. She grabbed his hand and waved goodbye to Sasuke and Hinata, giving Naruto one last strange look. Once she was out of hearing distance Sasuke made quick introductions.
"Naruto, this is my roommate Hinata. Hinata, this is Naruto."
Hinata, much to her credit, didn't ask any questions about Naruto. She simply smiled at him warmly and looked apologetically at Sasuke. They talked quietly as they walked, Naruto lagging behind them a few steps like a kicked puppy.
"I'm so sorry you had to wait Sasuke. Rock was concerned for our safety and he absolutely refused to let us leave."
"That's fine with me Hinata. Better safe than sorry. If anything happened to you, I don't know what I would do. You saved me."
"You saved yourself. I was just there to keep you company."
"You give yourself too little credit."
The trio stopped at a red brick building once they entered the nicer part of town. It was one of those chic studio buildings with cascading flower baskets hanging outside of every window. Sasuke used his key to let them all in and they took the stairs up to the penthouse. Hinata's family had not approved of her moving in with Sasuke, but once they saw that the whole top floor was theirs, and that it was divided into wings, they relented to allowing her to stay.
Both Sasuke and Hinata had graduated at the top of their class and they would start college in a few short weeks. Living ninety miles from their hometown had its advantages and its disadvantages, but the biggest advantage was that Sasuke had just managed to buy a prostitute without it being on the front page of every paper in town.
"I'm tired" Hinata said with a yawn. "I think I'll head off to bed." She smiled at Naruto again and he was surprised at the warmth in her eyes. Not many people acknowledged he existed, much less showed him any kindness or decency.
"Naruto, can you wait for me in there?" Sasuke pointed at his bedroom and the smaller boy took off toward Sasuke's room. Sasuke followed Hinata to hers.
"I want to explain."
"You don't need to explain anything to me, Sasuke. I'm sure you know what you're doing."
"You think so?"
Hinata took a better look at Sasuke. He was fiddling with the zipper on his coat and the expression on his face looked identical to the one he wore the day after Neji had told everyone the two of them were dating.
"Maybe not. Want me to bring you two in some tea?"
Sasuke shook his head. That's all he needed; Hinata playing hostess to his new 20-dollar romance. What had he been thinking? He was going to go into his room and send the boy straight back out to the street. He already had his money. That should be enough.
"No thanks. I think I'm going to send him back out."
"Let him stay, Sasuke. If you send him back to those people they're just going to sell him to someone else for the night. If you don't want him in your room put him in the guest room. I'll make you both a nice breakfast in the morning and then you can send him off."
"You knew he was a prostitute?"
"No one is that naive, Sasuke-kun. Not even me. We have lots of teen prostitutes come into the BGC. They don't choose their life. It's in the cards they're dealt. Think of what might have happened to you after your family died if you hadn't been emancipated because of your money. What if you had to stay with those awful foster people and then you ran away. What would you have done for money?" Hinata's words were rushed and her eyes filled with tears.
Sasuke only shook his head. He had no words for how he felt. He knew he was a cold son of a bitch in the eyes of most people, but he was so lucky to have Hinata in his life. Hinata who would sit here and cry over the mere thought of something bad happening to him. For so long she had loved him, and protected him, and here was his chance to try and do that for someone else. He would let the boy stay, and maybe try to help him out somehow the next morning. No one in this city knew him. Maybe he could turn over a new, friendlier leaf.
He kissed Hinata gently on the forehead and walked slowly back to his room. By the time he opened the door he was so lost in his thoughts he had almost forgotten that Naruto was in his room. From outside of the door he heard the boy speaking to himself in hushed tones, and curiosity got the better of him. He walked back out into the kitchen and turned on the Intercom to his room so he could listen in.
"and Lord, if you could get me out of this I will do my best never to miss mass again. I can't take anymore today. My ribs are still killing me, I think they may be broken again, but I won't ask you to heal me. I know it's punishment and I'm ok with that. You know that I don't ask you for much, but please just get me out of here without being beaten up tonight. This boy scares me. He looks so much like that other man, the one... well you know. Anyway, please please Lord." Sasuke heard Naruto choke back a sob. "Also hug mom and dad and all your other angels for me. Tell them I said Hi and that I'm making it ok and will probably see them soon. Amen."
Sasuke leaned back against the refrigerator, letting the cool steel ease away some of the pain he was feeling. That was the most depressing thing he'd ever heard in his life.
