Summary: A young Gai tries to find
a way to get his new rival to cooperate. Things don’t go as planned. Or just maybe,
they do.
Dedication: To Tekko-chan, because
she said it couldn’t be done. Which is a challenge and I can’t turn down a
challenge, ever.
Warnings: Crack! Brain breaking crack! Yaoi, shota.
Cyber-“I
bring you the first and only Yondaime/Gai fic ever to be written, as far as I know anyway. It can be
done! And I’m going to prove it. Now enjoy the fic!
Or not. . .”
Rival: For Kakashi’s Sake
The itching buzz of henge worms its
way uncomfortably through his skin. Gai resists the
urge to fidget. Kakashi doesn’t fidget. Of course if
his new rival had not summarily refused his offer he wouldn’t need to do this.
He suppresses the urge to yell in frustration. Kakashi
doesn’t yell either. Kakashi hadn’t even giving him a
chance to prove his worthiness in a sparing match.
Gai knows that Kakashi
will make a good rival and that they would be able to make each other very
strong. That is, if Kakashi is willing to make the
effort. When Sensei had said a rival was the best way to become stronger he had
immediately sought out Kakashi. Kakashi
is the strongest ninja their age, already jounin
even, and a worthy challenge for him where others would fall short. Sensei had
even agreed with his assessment. But Kakashi had very
calmly said no before he had even finished his offer.
And that is the reason why he is here right now, pretending
to be Kakashi. Gai does not
give up easily. He will find a way to
make Kakashi his rival. But his grin feels so out of
place on Kakashi’s face and he is reminded of his
mission. The person who would know Kakashi
best, and how to get Kakashi’s attention, would be Kakashi’s sensei, Konoha’s
legendary Yellow Flash. The trick is getting Kakashi’s
sensei to reveal the necessary information. But it will give him a chance to
practice the art of subterfuge, an area where he is decidedly lacking. Sensei
says his straightforward personality makes it difficult for him to engage in
lying and trickery and he needs to work hard to overcome that. But if nothing
else Gai is a champion of hard work!
Enough musing. Gai
moves forward in the shadow of the trees, a small copse on top of the Hokage monument. His research has shown that the Yellow
Flash likes to come up here to be alone. And that Kakashi
has joined him, at least once. Hopefully his target will be up here this
morning. And, success! Gai almost blows his cover by
shouting but manages to catch himself at the last moment.
Kakashi’s sensei is a beautiful
man, and extremely strong ninja. And standing on the edge of the cliff
overlooking Konoha with the morning sunlight turning
his messy blond hair to spun gold and the breeze playing with his long white
coat he looks like some celestial being. Gai swallows
against the sudden dryness in his mouth. He had, along with almost everyone
else if he is to believe the rumors, a very tiny crush on Konoha’s
favorite ninja. A crush rather like the one he had on his own sensei.
Apparently that crush didn’t go away as he thought it had. But he can’t let it
affect him. He has a mission to complete.
Trying to act and sound as much like Kakashi as possible Gai steps
forward, “Sensei.” He smiles internally. That was pretty good. He
managed the steely, serious tone of Kakashi’s voice
almost perfectly.
The blond turns around and grants him a warm, eye crinkling
smile. “Good morning, Kakashi.” Gai
nearly cheers. It’s working! “Or rather. . . Maito Gai was it?”
The euphoric feeling of success turns cold. What had he done
wrong? “How did you know?” Oops. He should have at least tried to keep up the
charade.
The man across from him laughs,
voice warm and light. The sound makes Gai want to
shiver. “At this time in the morning Kakashi will be
at the cenotaph, paying his respects to Obito.”
Uchiha Obito.
The teammate that had died on Kakashi’s
first mission as a jounin, only a couple of months
ago. Gai winces and drops the henge. Loosing a teammate is very difficult, especially
when one is leading the mission. “Oh.”
“So what brings you here wearing Kakashi’s
face?”
Gai winces again. “I umm. . .”
Might as well explain, maybe the Yellow Flash will take pity on him. “My sensei
said that the best, and most pleasant, way to get stronger was to have a rival.
She even agreed that Kakashi would be the best choice
for me. But he said no. I’m trying to find a way to make him see that. . .”
“You are a worthy rival? And you thought I could help
somehow?” Gai nods, perhaps a little too
enthusiastically if the expression on the older man’s face is any indication.
“Well and well. . . A rivalry might be just the thing my former student needs.
But I’m afraid that the only one who can prove that to Kakashi
is you.”
Gai fights away the feeling of
defeat. He will succeed! “He won’t
give me a chance. He refused to even have a match with me.”
The hand on Gai’s shoulder makes
him tingle. “Now, that is a dilemma.
You’re chuunin right? Have you thought of trying for jounin yet?”
Gai nods, “Yes. Sensei said I was
ready the last time but I decided to wait and make absolutely sure I’m
prepared.”
“Good for you. Hmm. . .” The young
looking face falls easily into an expression of deep thought. “You’ll just have
to make Kakashi want
a match with you. If you are as skilled as your statement implies a match
should make him see how worthy you are.”
“And how will I go about making Kakashi
want a match?” Gai bounces a little in excitement.
Finally! An answer to his problem!
The other smiles disarmingly, rubbing the back of his head
in embarrassment, “Ah, well. . . I haven’t a clue.” Gai
deflates, but the velvet voice continues, “But I’m sure that we can find a
solution together!”
Just as quickly Gai’s despair
turns to joy. “Really? Thank you! Thank you, thank
you, thank you!” The tenseness of the man in his arms
tells him that a hug probably wasn’t the best way to express his gratitude. But
feeling the strength beneath his hands and arms is wonderful. And Kakashi’s sensei has a most pleasing scent, crisp and
clean. And. . . Gai flushes
in mortification, hoping desperately that the other doesn’t notice his
reaction. Not that he has much chance. Spandex is horrible at hiding things.
But Kakashi’s sensei relaxes and
returns the hug with a chuckle. “My, my. What the
affectionate one you are!” Those hands feel hot, so good, against his back and
that beautiful face is looking down at him gently, mischief dancing in blue
eyes. Kissing him is a really, really
bad idea but being impulsive is Gai’s worst weakness.
He’s kissing Konoha’s Yellow Flash
and not getting beaten into the ground for it! His advances can’t be that unwelcome then. Because no ninja
could be frozen in surprise this long. And, Gai
moans, the kiss is even being returned, just a little.
Kakashi’s sensei pulls back,
laughter in his eyes, “Won’t my lover be amused when she hears about this.”
Lover? Oh shit! He’s so dead. “I’m
sorry!” Gai tries to untangle himself and get control
back to his disobedient limbs.
But fingers are titling his chin up, “Don’t be. She’s a
ninja just like us. She knows what our life is like and she doesn’t expect me
to be completely monogamous. Just as I don’t expect her to
be. She’s happy as long as she’s the one I return to.” The laughing
voice lowers to a whisper and Gai can’t suppress his
shiver, “Besides. Since she threatened to castrate me if I ever laid hands on
her again I’m sure she’ll be happy to have someone else be the center of my
attention for a bit.”
Gai blinks. “Huh? Why?”
“Oh, something about her being pregnant and me getting to go off on exciting missions while she’s stuck
at home with the baby practicing taijutsu on her
insides.”
Gai can’t help but join in the
laughter. His laughter doesn’t last long before turning to a moan, however.
Spandex is wonderfully thin and transmits even the lightest touch very
efficiently. But as those wonderful lips descend on his a flash of guilt
assaults him, “Are you sure she won’t mind?”
“Not at all.” The feeling of the
words vibrating against his neck makes Gai moan
again, “Besides, this is for Kakashi’s sake.”
What? Gai tries to ask but his
mind is becoming most pleasurably muddled. He’ll have to remember to ask later.
But now. . . Yellow Flash indeed, he hadn’t even
registered being stripped of his jumpsuit. It feels so good, sparking memories
of half remembered fantasies. Kakashi’s sensei is
strong and taut against his back and those hands are exploring his front. Gai feels a flush of accomplishment at the evidence of the
other’s arousal as it presses against his backside. For once being so tall and
gangly is to his advantage.
Those strong hands are softly stroking down his chest while
the blond rocks almost lazily against him. Lips whisper against his cheek and
jaw, little brushes of air tickling with each pant. Gai
moans, wishing suddenly that he had brought something that could be used for
lube with him. He makes a note to be better prepared in the future. “Oh!” That
feels good! He can’t help the arching of his back and neck as fingers begin to
tease his inner thigh.
“Mnn, so responsive. . .” Gai almost screams as lips and teeth trail down his neck, a
counterpoint to that smooth voice. He’ll have marks tomorrow but he doesn’t
care. Especially as his arousal is grabbed and slowly, slowly stroked. He wants
to return the favor but their position makes it so difficult. Then. . . an idea! Gai manages to
reach around far enough to pull the other’s pants open enough to free him. He
whimpers at the startled and aroused moan his action gets and manages to wrap
his fingers around just enough to guide. The sudden feel of it against his backside and sliding
between his thighs with each thrust makes him gasp. Kakashi’s
sensei responds with a very strange hybrid of a chuckle and a gasped moan, “Ohh. . . Good idea.”
Lips settle at the juncture of his neck and shoulder,
nibbles and sucks following immediately. The hand stroking him speeds up and
the thrusts become stronger, rocking him forward in spite of his attempts to
remain still. He’s so close that his knees are becoming wobbly. Gai moans and hopes he won’t fall. Or climax and be unable
to finish the blond behind him. Half on instinct he squeezes his thighs
together just a little. It gets an appreciative moan and he does it again. Then
his climax hits and he’s screaming, vaguely aware of the sudden increase in
thrusting against him. As he drifts in the sudden haze he’s vaguely aware of
the splash against his backside, pleasure warming his stomach as he realizes
he’s brought the other to climax.
Gai blinks, finding himself sprawled on the ground, jumpsuit around his ankles. Kakashi’s sensei is sitting beside him, tucking himself
back in his pants and lazily licking his hand. The sight makes Gai shudder and the man laughs, “You really are responsive!
Ah, to be a teen again. . .”
But the moment doesn’t last. Kakashi,
the real Kakashi, it could be no other, is standing
at the edge of the trees. It’s hard to see through the mask but he looks
furious. His voice is cool and collected however, which, truthfully is more
frightening than open anger, “So now you’re stealing my sensei?!”
Gai blinks again, mind whirling in
confusion. Kakashi sounds jealous? Could he have a
relationship with his sensei? The thought makes Gai
blush. And now the other boy looks ready to attack him. Ready to attack him. .
. Ah! So that’s what Kakashi’s sensei meant! It is
not the way Gai wanted to get a match with the other
boy but he’s not going to be picky at the moment. It doesn’t take long to
scramble back into his jumpsuit, and he shudders at the wetness along his
backside and thighs, and settle into a ready position, “Fight me, Kakashi!”
Kakashi responds with a punch.
Even in his anger the other boy’s movements are perfectly controlled. Gai rises to the occasion and trades a few preliminary
blows, gauging his opponent. His taijutsu is slightly
better than Kakashi’s but the other boy is just ever
so slightly faster. Gai has more physical strength
and his greater height gives him more reach though. And Gai
knows that Kakashi knows several very effective ninjutsu. It will be a very close match.
But there’s no time to think as the pace of their fight
quickens. Gai settles into the movements and looses
focus on anything else. But all too soon their fight ends. He’s lying sprawled
on the ground and he knows he’s grinning like a loon. The match was very close,
impossibly close, but he managed to win! Now Kakashi
will have to acknowledge him.
Kakashi is lying barely a foot
away, breathing heavily. With a little groan he rolls to his back, “Fine.
You’re strong. I acknowledge that.” Gai whoops. “But
I have a rival!”
“You had a rival.” The gentle correction is the first time Kakashi’s sensei has interfered since their match began. Kakashi winces noticeably and turns his head away. Is he
hiding tears?
Gai winces as well. So that’s why Kakashi refused. Kakashi didn’t
just loose a teammate, he lost his rival.
And to Kakashi his offer must have seemed like. . .
“I didn’t know! I’m not trying to replace Obito-san! Truly!”
Kakashi makes an angered sound,
one of the first emotion filled noises Gai has ever
heard him make, and tries to stand. But the golden haired man is blocking his
retreat, “Gai’s sensei believes a rivalry would be
good for both of you. I agree.”
“But Sensei!”
“Obito’s loss hurt you, I know
that.” Gai watches in awe as Kakashi
is snared in a strong embrace, “But you have to live on for his sake. Obito would want that.” There is so much intimacy in their
manner and Gai winces, feeling like an intruder. But
there is teasing in the smooth voice and a hand beckons Gai
closer, “Besides, you need someone to help you master the Sharingan
Obito gave you.” Gai finds
himself pressed awkwardly against Kakashi, who glares
back. He wants to squirm away but he’d be a fool to refuse a hug, even if he
has to share with Kakashi. “It would be sad for it to
go to waste now, wouldn’t it?”
Kakashi’s voice drips challenge,
“Fine. We can be rivals. But when I master the Sharingan
I’ll kick your ass.”
Gai crows, “And I’ll find a
counter for it! And then I’ll kick yours!”
Laughter from Kakashi’s sensei
makes Gai blush and if he isn’t mistaken Kakashi is blushing too, “And I’ll be looking forward to
watching you both get stronger.” The hug ends and Gai
feels a pang of loss. “Now. I should go and visit my
lover before I go and speak with Sandaime-sama about
that very important matter he needs to discuss with me. I should say good
morning to my little girl too!”
Kakashi visibly perks, “It’s a
girl, Sensei?”
The blond tugs on his hair in embarrassment, “Well. I don’t
actually know. My lover won’t tell me. But it would be wonderful to have a
little girl of my own to raise and teach the ninja arts. That way I’d have a
daily reminder of my lover.” There is inexplicable sadness in his voice at the
last statement.
Gai wonders at the tone, “But
won’t your lover be there to raise your child together with you?”
“No, she won’t.” The sadness deepens, “The medics found a
complication with the pregnancy and my lover doesn’t want them to attempt to
save her. She won’t tell me why but I will respect her decision.” And then the
sadness is gone and replaced with mischief, “I will raise my little girl the
best I can. And if I ever need a baby sitter I know three fine ninja who are
more than up to the task.”
Kakashi tilts his head, “Three? Who?”
“You, Rin and
now Gai.”
Gai feels a flash of nervousness
at the open mischief in that smile but brushes it away. “I’d be honored!”
“Excellent.” Now why does he feel he’s suddenly gotten in
over his head? But Kakashi’s sensei is suddenly
serious, “Oh, and Gai? My lover doesn’t want anyone
to know about our child yet. I would like you to swear to secrecy about this
until I give the ok, alright?”
“Of course!” Gai
salutes, “You have my word!”
“Good And now I’ll leave you two to get to know each other
better.” Gai blushes at the leer on that beautiful
face, “Have fun!”
And then he is alone with Kakashi.
Gai fidgets, “So. . .”
“So.”
~
Gai is shaken from the memory by
an amused voice at his shoulder, “Reminiscing?”
“Kakashi, my
rival.” Gai grins, “Remember they day we
became rivals?”
Years of practice allows Gai to
see the grin under Kakashi’s mask, “I do.” The silver
haired man sighs, “Sensei never got his wish.”
Gai turns to look at the boy
dressed in orange standing triumphantly on a nearby rooftop, “I think Yondaime-sama would be pleased with Naruto
though. He’s growing up to be a fine young man in spite. . .” With a little
shake of the head he changes the subject, “He’s growing to look more and more
like his father with each passing year. Soon no one will be able to deny it.”
“Yes. I’m glad he went training with Jiraiya.
It’s getting harder and harder not to respond to him the way I would have to
Sensei.”
Gai barely manages to suppress his
blush at the implications. “You too?” Gai sighs, “Ah. What a pair of perverts we are. Yondaime-sama would probably be threatening us with
castration if he was alive right now.”
Kakashi laughs, “Actually I’m sure
he’d be laughing at us too hard to try. Sensei had a wicked sense of humor. And
we were younger then than Naruto is
now anyway.” Gai smiles at the hand on his back,
“It’d be Naruto threatening us with castration.” Kakashi’s eye half
closes in humor, “So perhaps we should find a distraction. . . For both their sakes.”
Gai smiles into the chaste kiss, itching
to pull down the mask, “For both their sakes.”
Cyber-“Ha! I’ve proven that it can be done! Tremble before my
