Disclaimer: Well, what do you think? I’m not Japanese nor am I male…so no. I don’t.
This is a darkfic. Doesn’t start out that way. Least not very well. But you’ll get half the idea. Rape in later chapters. Perhaps you’ll find this a boring prologue.
It’s OOC. All stories like this are OOC.

5:00 am
Sakura bounced gracefully on to the bridge. Sasuke was walking in a composed manner on the other side. Naruto ran, certainly not gracefully nor composedly, to the bridge.
“Ohayo Sakura-chan!!!” Sakura turned and waved. She didn’t feel like hitting Naruto today. Sasuke stared blankly at Sakura, whom always hit Naruto no matter what came out of his mouth. Naruto blushed slightly and put on his famous trademark grin. Sakura stared at her own reflection in the water.
It had been a year and they were now 14 years old. They hadn’t changed much. They failed the chuunin exam again because they lacked certain abilities. Not the abilities that were physical, but the ones mentally. And it wasn’t genjutsu. They couldn’t figure out what it was.
But she knew. She understood. The sayings of a shinobi weren’t useless. They lacked the knowledge of those sayings. During the chuunin exam, it was like every ninja for themselves. Sasuke ditched Naruto and Sakura during one part. Naruto and Sakura were separated from each other. Sasuke was still living the on the thought of revenge.
They found each other again at the end. Sasuke never stated his reason for ditching the two and the two never mentioned it. To Sakura, Sasuke had grown to be a jerk. Actually, he always was. She just never knew she couldn’t depend on him anymore.
Naruto was the same as always. Hyperactive, loud, intrusive, and just plain old Naruto. Though no one ever said it, they hated seeing Naruto unhappy. There were some occasions where he wasn’t himself and someone totally different. Sakura hated it.
Their teacher hadn’t changed at all. Stayed the same. Still read that stupid orange book. Still the same rank. Still dependable. Although, during the chuunin exam, he was nowhere to be found. He had taken up S-class missions. And he always came back half dead and in the hospital. Sakura always wondered if Kakashi was a masochist.
While Sasuke and Naruto were becoming stronger, Sakura had grown stronger and wiser. She wasn’t vying for Sasuke’s affection anymore. Ino could have him for all she cared. She cared about Sasuke yes, but she didn’t love him anymore. She decided to move on from her silly crush. It was obvious enough to her that he would rather go off and do the seemingly impossible as opposed to staying around with her.
Sakura took out a photo from her pocket taken only a month ago. It was a picture of team seven in different light. A normal light. They weren’t wearing their regular outfits. Naruto was clad in a black t-shirt with a red spiral running down along the middle. He wore a pair of jeans that fit over him perfectly. He was throwing peace signs all over the picture.
Sasuke was wearing a plain blue t-shirt and a pair of black shorts. His shirt didn’t have any symbol on it. The collar was wide. His shorts went a little past his knees. That was about as “casual” as he could get. And that was just from a little convincing from Sakura and a little annoyance from Naruto.
Kakashi was rather reluctant to wear his other clothes. With some force from his students, he finally caved in, almost literally. He wore a large black t-shirt that hung loosely onto his shoulders. On the back were the kanji for “I didn’t do it”. He still had his infuriating mask on. He wore a pair of baggy, dark blue jeans that he had to fold to prevent from tripping on the hems. He either lost weight before the picture was taken or he just liked clothes bigger than himself. She guessed it to be the latter since it seemed impossible for him to lose anymore weight.
Sakura wore a long, red shirt and a pair of tight jeans that exposed her entire figure from waist-down. Her figure had changed over time. She was taller, her body was slender, her bosom was normal for a girl her age, and her hair had grown to the small of her back. Her choice of clothing changed as well. She wore simple clothes for training. She still wore dresses but not as much as she used to.
Sakura giggled at the poses they took. Naruto had his legs wrapped around Kakashi’s neck and his arms were waving around in the air. Sakura was holding onto Kakashi’s arm as Kakashi was almost knocked off balance. Sasuke lunged at Naruto because Naruto had drawn spirals on his face. The moment was shot and she was glad it was.
She remembered what happened in the end. Naruto leapt off Kakashi when he caught sight of Sasuke. Sasuke’s sudden lunge knocked Kakashi over the railing and Sakura went down with him. She remember shutting her eyes and screaming before she felt herself caught by something large and somewhat warm. Kakashi caught her inches before she hit the ground.
She giggled lightly at that memory. That awkward embrace caused Naruto to chase Kakashi around the village because he was holding Sakura. Sasuke and Sakura were watching with amused expressions written clearly on their faces.
She sighed lightly. Things changed more than she ever thought they would over a year’s time. Sasuke had grown from hot to handsome. His baby fat grew out and he was still taller than Naruto. Naruto grew taller…a few inches…He was taller than Sakura now, at least. But he was still pissed about Sasuke. Naruto grew from goofy to handsome and his fox-like grin contributed to that. Kakashi didn’t quite change very much. The only visible change is how his clothes suddenly don’t fit well. His garb hung loosely on him and he was starting to come later than usual.
Sakura pondered. Kakashi was actually was 6-8 hours late nowadays. Wonder why. He was usually horribly late not not like this. It’s as if he’d forgotten about them. Then again, he was always late even to meet with the Godaime. He was late now. About 7 hours so far.
Speak of the devil…Sakura heard a familiar ‘poof!’ and she turned around for the daily routine as Naruto did the same. “Your late!!!” They always timed it perfectly. Kakashi scratched his head. “Ah, yeah I am. Fell down against a tree ‘cause of a migraine.” Naruto sweat dropped. “Your excuse could at least be true.”
“Well,” stated Kakashi while distracted by certain thoughts. “Let’s go. We’ve got a mission to do.” He walked off with Sasuke and Naruto in tow. Sakura trailed behind.
Their mission was quite simple. Protect the daimyo from bandits. Except the bandits weren’t simple bandits. Missing-nin. This complicated the mission. The Daimyo and his wife cowered under a clump of bushes. Naruto had to save Tora, Lady Shijimi’s pet cat many times.
Sasuke was taking care of the low level missing-nins while Kakashi was having a difficult time fighting the apparently strongest of them. Sasuke had already burned his opponents to crisps while Kakashi was being kicked in the gut continuously by the low level nin.
Sakura stared.
THAT should be easy for him. He should’ve finished him by now…
Sasuke was already done and was helping Naruto try to find Tora, whom had run from him in fear.
The missing-nin fighting Kakashi kicked him into a tree with a sickening crack and went after the closet ninja, whom happened to be Sakura.
Kuso. I’ve got to do something…
She took out a kunai and found the missing-nin gone.
Nani?
She felt a kunai cut into her flesh as she leapt away out of instinct. The side of her hip bled as she landed. It cut to her pelvis.
The missing-nin smiled sickeningly and launched forward. Sakura stood her ground and held a kunai, poised for attack. All she heard was her own heartbeat. The silence was deafening.
A blur of green and blue rammed the bandit hard in the back. A loud CRACK! shattered the silence, just like the bandit‘s back.
Kakashi rammed the bandit into a tree and shattered his spinal cord in half, paralyzing him.
The bandit lay unconscious. Sasuke and Naruto had found Tora, whom was still quite terrified and was scratching his face relentlessly. Kakashi winced as he stood up and leaned against the trunk of a tree.
Sakura stood there, petrified.
He’s always late, dammit!!
Naruto ran frantically to Sakura, dropping Tora as he went. “Sakura-chan! Daijobu des ka?” She snapped out of her funk. “Hai, Naruto…” Naruto wasn’t convinced. “Your bleeding!” Sakura dropped the kunai and gently lay her hands over her wound. A faint glow was seen and she examined the wound. It was gone. Not even a scar. Her healing jutsu was paying off.
Naruto turned and faced Kakashi. “Oi, oi! It’s your fault! You should’ve protected her! That was your fight, not her’s!” Kakashi didn’t acknowledge Naruto’s presence. Naruto was losing his temper. “Chikoshou…Oi! Listen!” He lunged at Kakashi and was surprised when Kakashi received the punch in the eye without conviction.
Sasuke returned the cat and hadn’t known what Naruto did. Sakura was gaping slightly.
What the hell was that about!?
Kakashi wasn’t even knocked down. He slid his forehead protector over his bruising eye instead of the sharingan and walked off wincing because of what Naruto thought was his eye. Could’ve been from a number of things. He was kicked into a tree after all.

Naruto followed and made sure to keep an eye on Sakura on the rest of the mission. Sasuke stared at both Naruto and Kakashi and couldn’t understand what was g ong on since he wasn’t there. Sakura knew that Naruto was worried but she didn’t need to be babied. She was tired of that.
After the Daimyo finished his business in the water country, they all stayed in a motel halfway between the water country and Konoha. The daimyo and his wife shared a room. Sakura and Sasuke shared a room. Naruto and Kakashi, much to their dismay, had to share a room.
As Sakura and Sasuke ate, they could hear Naruto’s going higher and from yelling while there was no response from the other. They both went out to make sure Naruto hadn’t killed Kakashi and was screaming at his corpse, only to find that the door opened to reveal a live Kakashi about to walk out. He stared at the two for a bit and pushed his way through them.
Naruto was still heaving as Sakura and Sasuke walked in. “Naruto, let it go. I’m fine now.” And indeed she was. But Naruto seemed to be heaving about something else. “It’s not that Sakura-chan. That could’ve been any one of us and he was late. And why was he getting beat up by that guy? It‘s like he wanted to get hurt.” Sasuke wasn’t listening as he was staring at Kakashi’s pack. He opened it to reveal the usual things.
“What are you looking for, Sasuke?” Naruto was also staring at the pack. “Something…” Nothing out of the ordinary. Scrolls, his icha icha paradisu book, a sleeping bag, a bottle of pills…
They stared at it. It was labeled sleeping pills. Half the bottle was empty. Still nothing out of the ordinary. A roll of bandages, a small pile of bloody bandages…
Okay, that was weird. Naruto voiced their thoughts. “What’s that from?” The other two shrugged. Sakura thought back to the fight…
A sword flashed in her mind. A long thin sword. A scimitar-style sword? She was mainly sure. “That guy with twordword…Kakashi‘s arm was bleeding.” The two boys were now looking at their teammate. “Okay, that explains it”, Naruto decided.
Sasuke continued looking through the pack until they found another Icha Icha Paradisu. This one had a book mark. Or something to act as a bookmark. They turned to the page and Naruto pulled out the bookmark, making sure that his finger was still stuck on the right page.
It was a picture of four people. One was recognized as the Yondaime and the others weren’t anyone they recognized. The last person at the right hand side was Kakashi. A very young Kakashi standing on a box. He was considerably shorter than his apparent teammates and his face had a murderous expression.
Naruto grinned. “Chibi-Kakashi-sensei! Midget!” Sakura and Sasuke sweat dropped. Naruto was also a midget back then. “He’s pretty short for a 12-year old.” Sasuke and Sakura dropped to the floor. “He isn’t 12, baka. Younger than that. Gotta be at least 5 or 6.”
They found nothing else and Sasuke began putting everything back where they found it. They stayed there talking to each other for most of the night.
The next morning, Kakashi was nowhere to be seen. He hadn’t come back. They set out to look for him but he was nowhere in sight. Naruto went back to the motel for some breakfast first and found Kakashi slumped on the bed, fast asleep. His headband lay forgotten on the floor.
He walked up next to Kakashi and crouched. He poked Kakashi’s nose. “Oi, sensei?” No response. Naruto tried a more emphasizing approach. “OHAYO SENSEI!” Kakashi’s eyes blinked wearily up at Naruto and he buried his face into the pillow. Naruto frowned. “Mou sensei! Get up!” Kakashi turned his head and blinked. “Nande?” Naruto blinked. “We gotta go.”
Naruto scowled as he remembered. Sasuke and Sakura came back looking disgruntled. “Kakashi ignored us. He wouldn’t tell us where he went.” The daimyo and Shijimi were ready before Naruto was. They left the motel and stalked onward to Konoha.
_________________________________________________________
The daimyo thanked them and paid them for their trouble. The four remained at the gates, just staring at the sky. Kakashi winced as he pushed himself roughly off the gate and trudged back to what was his apartment. The three watched him walk a distance before they saw him either disappearing or promptly falling. They guessed it to be the latter.
They ran, with Naruto very much ahead of them and found that Kakashi had indeed fallen. Next to a tree. They thought about his excuse for being late and then wondered if he was telling the truth after all.
His breathing was ragged, heavy, and…wet? As if he just ran a great distance against Gai. That didn’t explain how wet was added. Sasuke pulled Kakashi up and the three carried Kakashi to the hospital. Or at least tried. They ended up dragging him.
Tsunade stared as the three were trying to hold Kakashi and speak at the same time. They lost their breath as they ran. “Kakashi…ragged…fell…heavy!” They dropped him as Jiraiya caught him from behind.
“He isn’t that heavy…What did you do, run a marathon?” Naruto glared. “What’s the matter with him?” He pointed at Kakashi. Tsunade shrugged as Kakashi was dragged to a room by Jiraiya. “I’ll see now. Just sit and relax.”
They took the last statement very seriously and they promptly fell down and leaned against each others backs. All three fell asleep from exhaustion on the floor.
Tsunade camek ouk out a few hours later and declared that Kakashi was just tired. He was asleep in the room now. “His breathing was ragged and heavy. It sounded kind of wet. He was bleeding internally. He has a few broken ribs and black eye.” Naruto frowned. “Sakura, follow me for a minute please.”
Sakura obeyed and said she’d be right back. They walked and turned a corner. “Sakura, how did the mission go?” Sakura tilted her head. “Fine. The daimyo was not hurt. Neither was his wife. No wao was slashed a lot by Tora, Lady Shijimi’s cat, Sasuke-kun wasn’t hurt, Kakashi-sensei cracked something, and I was slashed by a kunai from waist down.”
Tsunade nodded. “Did anything else happen?” Sakura understood what she was trying to imply but was unnerved at how she knew in the first place. “Naruto and Kakashi-sensei got into an argument over…me.” Tsunade raised her eyebrows. “Naruto was yelling about how I was hurt and all.” Tsunade nodded but still looked unconvinced.
“Hokage-sama, why did you need a briefing from me?” Tsunade smiled. “You’re the only one thas a s a straight enough story out of you three. Naruto brags and Sasuke tends to leave out details.” Sakura nodded. Tsunade gave Sakura a curt nod before leaving to another room.
God, I thought I was in trouble!
She walked and glanced in Kakashi’s room only to find that her two teammates were already there. Naruto and Sasuke were having another brawl of brains until Sakura’s presence stopped them in mid-brawl.
Kakashi stirred slightly and groaned. The three genin gazed nervously before Kakashi was back deep into his slumber. They all breathed a sigh of relief. “Kuso…He almost woke up. We gotta keep it down.” Sasuke snorted. “Like you should be talking.” Naruto grunted. “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that…” Sakura sighed.
Airheads…They’re both morons.
A low, pained voice spoke and scared the hell out of the three. “What doi doing here? Why are your three here?” Sakura stood there petrified and sweat dropped. Sasuke sweat dropped. Naruto flew to the ceiling and his teeth grew large along with his eyes.
“Sensei”, Sakura said as Naruto dropped to the ground with a thud, “your awake…” Kakashi slowly sat up and stared at the three. “Yeah…Why am I here?” Sasuke elaborated as Naruto stood up with his teeth and eyes still quite large. “You fainted…I think.” “Oh. Why are you here?” “We had to carru heu here.” Naruto finally regained his composure…albeit slightly.
His eyes turned to slits. “You don’t remember?” Kakashi shook his head. “How much do you remember?” “Walking…then waking up here.” Naruto shrugged and plopped onto a stool. “Do we have a mission tomorrow, sensei?” Sasuke and Sakura sighed. Kakashi looked thoughtful. “Ask Godaime-sama.”
“Ask me what?” The three genin turned to find Tsunade standing on the doorstep with a confused expression. Kakashi spoke through closed eyes. “If there is a mission.” Tsunade stared at Kakashi incredulously. “As if you are in any condition for it.” Kakashi tilted his head. “Hm? I feel fine.” Tsunade sweat dropped. She walked in and flicked Kakashi’s head. Considering he was a full grown man, he wouldn’t have flown off like Naruto. “Masochist…”
“No, you guys don’t have a mission tomorrow on the account that Kakashi’s got to sleep. And if you don’t, I’ll make you”, she added threateningly to Kakashi. Kakashi sweat dropped. “But I feel fine. Really.” She considered this for a moment. “Fine. Tomorrow, you guys need to escort the Daimyo of the Cloud back to…well, the Cloud. Simple enough.” They nodded in unison and she walked out muttering, “Masochist his his students…”
Kakashi lightly rolled of the bed and walked out the door as he was still dressed in his jounin uniform. He waved back to his students and left. The three shrugged and walked back to their respective homes.
_____________________________________________
Kakashi didn’t show up at all the next morning. So the three genin ended up taking the Daimyo home themselves. Kakashi didn’t show up the next morning. Or the next. Or the next and so on.
After completing the 7th mission without Kakashi, they went to Tsunade. “Oi, ‘baa-san! Where’s Kakashi-sensei? He didn’t show up all week!” Tsunade pointed at the door. There stood a disheveled, bloody, and tired Kakashi with a look of pure confusion. “Kakashi’s been taking S and A-rank missions. I reassigned him that night. He never told you?” They shook their heads.
Kakashi trudged into the room and placed a piece of paper on her desk. He turned to his students. “You guys will be assigned a different teacher.” He trudged back out and left three dumbfounded students inside the office.
Naruto spoke. “So, he’s quitting? What’d we do?” Tsunade spoke as if she knew everything that went on. “Kakashi’s not the type to teach. He’s not really the type for anything. He’s taking on missions again.” Sakura spoke. “Why?” “He…well, ask him yourself. Jiraiya and I will teach you what you need to know at your level. Nothing more. Nothing less.”

Naruto ran directly to Kakashi’s apartment with Sasuke and Sakura in tow. They skidded to halt in front of the door and knocked on it, only to find it open on it’s own accord. They felt a sense of dread.
Naruto was the first to walk in. He saw nothing. It was a regular flat. The lamp was on. There were a few things out of place like clothes and a holster here or there. Sakura walked into the kitchen. Nothing. Sasuke walked into the bedroom. He cringed.
Nothing was particularly there. Just a bed, a desk, and a closet. Kakashi was on the floor with his knees hugged to his chest and his eyes closed. Blood trickled down his arm to the floor. A few blood-stained kunai lay on the floor.
What the fuck is going on!?
Sakura gasped as she walked in and Naruto cried out. He walked over and shook Kakashi by the shoulders, wondering vaguely if he was dead. Kakashi blinked. “Huh? Naruto? What are you doing here?” Naruto sighed with relief. Sasuke glared with slight relief. “What were you doing?” Kakashi turned his head.
None of your business…
“I fell asleep while cleaning the kunai.” He pointed at a rag beside him. Sasuke was unconvinced. He stared at the marks on Kakashi’s arm. Clean cuts. Self-inflicted. “Did you do a lot of summoning?” Kakashi stared and realized what he was referring to.
Fuck. Why can’t you mind your own business!?
“Iiya.” But he wouldn’t elaborate. Kakashi stood up shakily and sat on the bed. “You guys should go. It’s late.” Sasuke was reluctant but went anyway, dragging an even more reluctant Naruto along with him. Sakura followed closely behind.
Sakura tried to reason this out. He knew over a thousand jutsu. A quarter of those must’ve involved him slicing open his skin.
B
But then, that can’t be the reason…He would’ve done so in front of them on more than one occasion. But then that would…
She couldn’t jump to conclusions yet. There wasn’t enough to work with. She gazed over at Sasuke. He nodded silently in agreement. She glanced over at Naruto. He was staring at the ground.
Sasuke couldn’t piece this together. He came to the same theory as Sakura but was as lost as she was. They were going to play detectives it seemed.
Naruto yawned.
And one of them would need the situation explained to them very clearly. Sasuke sighed deeply.
Oh great. La-di-fucking-da…Sakura will do the explaining to the dobe.

Yeah, long and boring, ne? Give me a break, it’s a prologue. Albeit long, but still a prologue. Just look at the chapter title. I need to channel my energy on something. Apparently, it’ll be this.
By the way, if there are mistakes, try to bear with it. I don’t have a beta-reader.
