Personally, I could give a rats a** about how Sasuke feels right now. I'm surprised that he is managing to sway people to his side so-to-speak. What exactly is so bad about his life except that he realizes he screwed up, lost the best thing that ever happened to him and feels guilty. He basically stole the life that Naruto could have had with his self-centered attitude, which by the way, has not seemed to change. Soul mates don't treat one another the way that Sasuke treated Naruto. Even if he apologizes, what will that change? How in the world could Naruto ever trust him again? Not to mention the results of his betrayal are still present and has flipped Naruto's world. Sasuke couldn't give enough to a relationship with Naruto when things were better, why would Naruto believe that Sasuke could give even more of himself (genuinely and not as an obligation or because of guilt) now that Naruto is disabled? If Naruto took him back, what's to say that Sasuke wouldn't just say he was too stressed taking care of Naruto and cheats on him again as an escape? Naruto may be unhappy because he had hope for a life that never became reality, but that doesn't mean that Sasuke showing up in his life again with an "I'm sorry" will fix things. Some things that are broken, stay broken.

I find myself wondering what caused the accident that killed Naruto's parents. Was Naruto somehow involved? It's weird that his parents both died like that. Where was Naruto at the time?

Please update soon.

You're welcomed to my 'boot camp voice' anytime. Lol. But I'm happy to see Sasuke standing up to Tsunade and her shielding/over protective demeanor. He better fight for what is his!
Don't worry about characters 'straying from the beaten path'. I believe that all authors have to make the characters their own in some way. And you've only tweaked them a little. I still love the story and I'm looking forward to more.
Are you getting physical therapy for your wrist? But get better and good luck with the job search; I'll be joining you in that endeavor sooner or later.

Truthfully, I've never had the experience of being deeply in love with someone, being forcibly separated from them, and then meeting them again after a long period of time, but even still, I'm having a hard time accepting the fervency of Sasuke's actions. Ten years--a whole decade--is a very, very long time. I don't really understand why he's so hell-bent on getting Naruto back now when he wasn't willing to do anything about it before. Feelings and situations change over time, and yet Sasuke is acting like everything just happened a few months ago, with his depression, his pronouncements to Tsunade and Kakashi, etc. I can understand that seeing Naruto rekindled some of his feelings, but if his feelings were so close to the surface all this time, and so barely-hidden that Itachi continues to walk on eggshells around him, it just seems hard to believe that he would have let things go for so long without trying to get Naruto back, no matter how hard everybody's families were interfering. (Sasuke certainly doesn't seem like he's going to let that get in his way *now*, but he let that get in his way before?)

I just think it would make more sense if Sasuke were a little more unsure about things. If he only wanted to reconnect with Naruto--in whatever way Naruto would be willing to accept--rather than insisting on reclaiming Naruto romantically. With so much time that's passed, I can't see Sasuke being so passionate about wanting Naruto back unless something were to happen which would REALLY rekindle all of his feelings (like spending time with Naruto and getting all those "old feelings" back). At this point, with them having barely spoken to one another, Sasuke can't be sure that he could still make Naruto happy (Naruto's current unhappiness may not have anything to do with the fact that Sasuke isn't in his life anymore! There's SO many different sources of unhappiness after all), or truthfully, that Naruto could still make him happy either. (People change, and after 10 years, both Naruto AND Sasuke have undoubtedly changed a lot.) If not that, then I think Sasuke's attitude would also make more sense if only a shorter period of time had passed since all of this originally happened, like 2-3 years maybe.

Well, besides that, I'm glad we finally got an explanation for why Sasuke acted the way he did in the past. It seems like he was put under so much pressure he didn't know how to cope with it? (And Naruto didn't know how to help him cope with it either?) I guess Sasuke now knows how to deal with stressful situations, or has Itachi carefully made sure that Sasuke would never have to be in that sort of situation again? I'm also glad that Sasuke has friends and people on HIS side--like Neji, Hinata, and Kiba--instead of everyone siding exclusively with Naruto. What Sasuke did to Naruto was bad very bad, but it's clear he's suffered as well, so no need to treat anybody in the story as 100% the bad guy.

Hmmm... So is Naruto's blindness the direct result of that accident he was in? I don't know, that just seems a little bit too much for Sasuke to overcome to me. People cheat, and mess up the relationships they are in, but then with time, a whole lot of effort, and a willingness to work and move forward, couples can get over bad things which have happened. But if Sasuke's actions were directly responsible for Naruto's condition, then that's not something they can ever get over. It'll be there every day, a glaring reminder of how badly things went in the past. How can Sasuke ever apologize or make up for it? And how can Sasuke, who already has a massive, massive guilt complex, ever forget about it either?

If Naruto's condition happened later on and didn't have anything to do with that accident, it would give Sasuke a tiny fighting chance, but if it was because of the accident, I don't know how they could get past it, certainly not with everything else they have to deal with. They have yet to have a proper conversation, Naruto doesn't seem to remember Sasuke, Naruto's memories of Sasuke (when he eventually gets them back) will be painful ones, Naruto currently has a girlfriend, AND all the people closest to Naruto (who have been there with him through all the difficult things he's gone through since the accident) don't approve of Sasuke and don't want him around. I just don't see how the two of them could overcome all of that--let alone overcome Sasuke's responsibility for Naruto's condition! It's almost better if instead of getting back together, if they just find a way to get closure on the past and say goodbye to one another once and for all. Some things really aren't meant to be, unfortunately, soul mate or not.

I nearly cried when i saw you updated! I hoped so bad for you to continue and finish this fic! I love it so much and my ultimate plot if i ever write a story! It may hurt that sasuke cheated but the pain he experience while trying to get naruto back makes up for it! I love it when it's sasuke who does the chasing this time instead of naruto like in cannon. Keep it up and more chapters soon!!!

I am just now reading this story (where the heck have I been?) and it's really good. Sakura? *groan* I can't help it... I can't stand her. I can't even picture poor lee being saddled with her lol. This is going to be bittersweet though because even when they get together Naruto is still blind and they have wasted 10 years. But please keep writing... bittersweet is still good.
