I've actually read about that theory before in a book called Strange Attractions by Emma Holly. She explained it pretty well in the book.

The same thing happened to me not to long ago. I was curious about what kissing a girl was like, so my ex-friend kissed me, and I found I didn't like the idea of myself being with another girl.
