Reviews for Shifting Emotions

Oh my! Sasuke's breakup with Shikamaru was unexpected, but I like that somehow. It's interesting to me because between the two, Sasuke and Shikamaru seemed to have the far better relationship than Naruto and Neji do, so I wasn't expecting that they would end things first, or so quickly in the fic. But then, that's life, isn't it? With the kind of job Shikamaru has, relocation is not at all unexpected. And anyway, it seems to me that Sasuke and Shikamaru might eventually have broken up anyway, even without the relocation thing. If nothing else, the fact that Sasuke is able to handle the whole thing so maturely so quickly after getting the news shows that they were probably not meant to be. (Or is he? Is that why Sasuke disappeared off of Naruto's radar for a few days?) It's good that they ended things on a friendly note.

It'll be interesting to see what Sasuke decides to do next. Will he rebound/try to meet someone new, or go the route of single-dom for a while? Also, Sasuke claims the big deal that's been preoccupying Neji for so long will be over soon, once Shikamaru moves. So will Naruto and Neji's relationship improve once that happens, or will Neji very quickly find something else to devote all his time and energy on? I wonder if Neji did get some downtime and started acting like the boyfriend he used to be if things would be all that easy for them anyway? It's easy to make small talk with a person you don't have much in common with anymore when you don't see them that often, but it gets awkward (if you can't rebuild the bond) once you start hanging out with them a lot. Neji can't really talk to Naruto about his business deal (which is the one thing he's really be focusing on lately). And Naruto's also had a couple of major life changes lately: he's gained a new, important friend (Sasuke), and he's about to make a major career change. Because of all his absences, Neji isn't exactly a part of all that. (I wonder if Neji has ever gotten the opportunity to hang out with Sasuke and Naruto?)

Looking forward to the next chapter. :)

Wow, I really like this (and as a lurker on this site who's never reviewed before this is saying a lot). There's just so much beauty in the simplicity of Naruto and Neji drifting apart. The sadness and heartache that is just not there is so poignant.

I really like the idea of a fic based on couples drifting apart for normal reasons, and without the added melodrama of cheating or character bashing. (THANK YOU!) Sometimes, good people just don't end up fitting together because of circumstances, timing, differences in opinions, or differences in values. These things aren't necessarily going to be anyone's fault; in real life, there typically aren't any heroes or villains when it comes to most breakups.

I also think it's rather cool how you've made both Naruto and Sasuke into artists. (It's something they can both connect with in each other, whereas it's harder for them to understand their businessman boyfriends' way of thinking.) Naruto as a famous cellist is very cool. I know he said he would have been happy just teaching music, but I hope he finds a way to be more OK with his level of success. It's kind of sad to think of a player as good as him hidden away in a music school. (Maybe he can find a way to get away from the orchestra, but still share his talent with the general public?)

My only quibble so far is that I think Sasuke and Naruto may have gotten a little too close, too quickly. They met by chance in a bar at the beginning of the fic, and then the next time we see them hanging out, they've already progressed to the point where they are having regular movie nights together. I think I would have liked to have seen a little more of how they got there, especially because Naruto seems comfortable enough with Sasuke that he talks to him about some of his frustrations with Neji. (Maybe he's not spilling all the details about his relationship, but it still shows a degree of trust.) But it is only a friendship so far and no blushing or complicated feelings, so that is very good. I'll keep an eye out for your next chapter update. :)

Wow, I like the idea of this story. So they'll have an emotional attachment with one another. I can totally identify with this situation. It's also refreshing to see a fic step out of the box from romance/comedy fics.:3. Can't wait for the next chapter.:)
