Very very interesting story with some great insights.
It's too bad you didn't continue...
To me this story makes a lot of sense, both Gaara and Sasuke have walked the line to temporary psychosis - not surprisingly, given their experiences. . I think that you captured their state of mind extremely well, and you give some intriguing twists to canon occurrences.
The pairing is unusual, but they have a lot in common, and a certain basic understanding that's even canon. And the blood play. . I would say, given the violent and twisted world and circumstances they live in, I'd be very surprised if their sexuality had turned out to be non-violent.
One thing I particularly enjoyed was the rather abrupt jumping from scene to scene or POV to POV and the laconic style, which works especially well for Sasuke but also for Gaara.
All in all I've really enjoyed your story, and I'm sorry it didn't get the feedback it deserves in my opinion.
So - even though it is years too late I realize - Thank you very much!

Whoa! I never thought I could enjoy a story pairing Gaara and Sasuke but your story is proving to be quite the surprise. I am totally relishing the different quirks you given each of their personalities. That you didn't just write Sasuke as an emotionless ass is refreshing. I like that you let some of his inner struggles break through. It showed that he actually has feelings of remorse and regret at some of his actions. The plot twist of Shukaku making Sasuke his host was unexpected but a wonderful surprise. It lends more tension to the story since Shukaku is so unpredictable.

I would also like to thank you for writing Gaara as a bit more open and not so emotionally retarded. I like that you've given him a confidant in Lee,who I thought you struck just the right balance between over-the-top and wisdom with. And yes, the blood play is twisted^_^. I like how you used this sexual quirk as the initial draw but the meat of the story is how these encounters led to stronger feelings and a deeper connection. I am greatly looking forward to your next chapter.

I may be showing my age here but I do know about The 10th Kingdom. Not only that, I own the soundtrack plus the VHS box set. No,that's not a typo and yes,I still own a VCR. I know that makes me positively ancient but what can you do? As I rememember, the story is about the Evil Queen's plot to take over the nine kingdoms after she turned the prince into a dog. He escapes through a magic mirror to the tenth kingom(New York),is found by a young waitress and her father who he takes back with him to fight the evil queen to regain his kingdom. His kingdom is the world we believe to be only fairy tales. It showed what happen to some of the fairy tale characters after the happily-ever-after.
