I love this fic more with every chapter.

Argh Naruto. I felt so, so bad for him the whole way through. (It's really true that people can become depressed from a lack of sunlight! The winter blues is a real phenomena, so I can see how awful things must have gotten for Naruto always sitting in the dark and not being able to go outside, especially if his body has a particular need for vitamin D.) When Naruto woke up in that hospital bed with Sasuke resting near his leg, I felt so sure that finally, Sasuke would relent and send the poor man home. I was bitterly disappointed in him that he didn't, but I suppose that can't possibly happen unless Sasuke really believes there's no other way; at this point, he's still hopeful that he can make things better for Naruto and make him happy where they are. I was glad that he made some compromises, however. And I hope whatever he's learned from Kyuubi has started cluing Sasuke in on just how hard it is for Naruto to be here.

(But argh! Even though I don't want Naruto to be imprisoned, knowing the fic won't have a 100% happy ending, part of me just wants Naruto to accept the situation and have as much happiness here with Sasuke as he can, while he can.)

Incidentally, I didn't find Naruto to be "flaky" here at all. He doesn't know what he should do, is being torn in two drections between staying and going, and is just in a general state of confusion where part of him wants a way to make the situation okay, part of him wants a way to get himself out of it, and the rest of him is losing hope. It seems to me with all the different directions he's being pulled in, it'd be impossible for there to be any consistency to his behavior. (It must be awful when the person you love most is your enemy. Even in the manga they aren't exactly enemies in the strictest sense of the the word since Naruto refuses to see him that way. Now the roles are sorta reversed: Sasuke is insisting on their bonds, while to Naruto, Sasuke is the one standing in his way and preventing him from getting what he wants and going home.)

As always, looking forward to the next chapter. :D

This is a wonderful story! It is very psychological and has me on the edge of my seat with every chapter. My favorite stories with this pairing always have them locked in some sort of mental struggle with one another with neither Sasuke nor Naruto completely dominating over the other. This is what appeals to me about them in the manga, so that's what I most enjoy in fanfiction. I think what's so great about this story is, despite the fact that Naruto is the one who has been captured, Sasuke is neither fully in control over Naruto nor fully in control over the situation. Sasuke's helpless distress over Naruto's unintentional suicide attempt proves that, as does him his obvious happiness and gratitude every time Naruto gives in. Sasuke may appear to hold all the cards, but Naruto is, in no way, down for the count. I can't begin to guess what will happen next between them, so I'll just lean back and enjoy the ride. ^_^

I go back and forth between wanting to cry and wanting to hit... not sure if that's what you're going for or not. LOL Sasuke is crazy but I always thought he was smart crazy... Naruto is a social creature. *sighs* Stupid geniuses suck.

When Shika gets angry there's always a good reason. I'm so glad it's not hard to be found. I'm really interested in knowing how the chakra absorber is going to be shut down. Who else will come after Naruto once Shika can no longer keep up the pretense?

I loved this chapter. The scenes you describe are so vivid. Their thoughts, their mental states... you have those woven into the action of your story so seamlessly. I swear you need to write a book and get published. But still write Naruto/Sasuke stories.

I was so happy to see at least one person knows where he is. Now it's time for Naruto to get himself out of that mess. Update soon! :)

ok...just read everyone else's reviews and all I can say is *plugging ears and squeezing eyes shut* "can't hear you can't hear you can't hear you..." I don't want to think of those scenarios *sniff sniff*. Sasuke killing Naruto and himself? Naruto leaving crazy Sasuke?

I think Shika was right...Naruto does want to stay and its easier letting Sasuke make the choice for him. The hard choice will be deciding whether to stay or go when the orb goes away. And I still hope he stays. Life is too short to spend it alone and I think he loves Sasuke more than he loves the village. And Sasuke can love him back.

waahhhhh! sniff sniff... I want Naruto to be happy with Sasuke! He's 27 and if he never had a connection with anyone by now...he never will. I hate the idea of him going back to be Hokage because essentially that would be living for work. That would be a horrible lonely way to live. Everyone else having love & families & a life and Naruto just respected as a great Hokage.

Though I do want Sasuke to get rid of that stupid orb. Training together is something they both loved to do and it would be awful to lose that.

Arrgg...I know the ending will be a bit bitter because that's the way it has to be in this... I just hope Naruto makes the hard choice to stay by his own free will. (fingers crossed)

    Love this!

thank heavens shika was around to give naru a dose of reality. i feel better knowing this won't have an unrealistic happy ending, since it's a tragic piece of sorts. i almost see naruto getting away but sasuke killing himself; or killing both of them. sigh ... well, can't wait to see what you do!
