they are coping... slowly. It;s painful to lose people, even if most were support characters. Someone is going to pay for this though, pay for this in bloody retrobution.
I thought things were going a little to smoothly there.

Wow, terrific exploration of the truth that the time after a crisis can be more difficult than the crisis itself. I love the off-kilter feeling of the chapter while being 100% true to the characters. Itachi's teasing (with bite behind it and a truth Shikamaru needed to hear) and Neji's growl were true delights. Poor Shikamaru -- but it seems his relationship with Neji might be getting even stronger, even as he himself continues to grow. Sasuke's reference to Kakashi "san" rather than "sensei" and abrupt dismissal (the second in recent times), while Sasuke remains fixated on the unconscious Naruto, was exquisitely painful. The fact that both have valid points, but cannot hear the other (not that Sasuke feels the need to provide an explanation, shades of the 'old' Uchiha in service of a quite different conclusion), makes it all the more painful. Kakashi seems now truly isolated. I'm torn between foreseeing a time when Kakashi must see Sasuke as an adult, no longer a trainee, and find a way to further bury his own leadership skills or leave; and wanting to cry out at the injustice of his reward for his long sacrifices to be treated as a bygone relict unworthy of being afforded as much attention and consideration as Sasuke's other councilors. Both exaggerations, of course, but a form of father/son dynamic that is timeless. Even better, however, is that I know to expect resolutions that will, in the long-run at the very least, be uplifting. I can hardly wait for Saturday's update!

Now I'm falling in love with Sasuke some more:) I love that he's going to unpod the children and for helping the type seven genius with Itachi. It might not have been the sweetest way but it was very affective:) You know what I loved the most:) Yes! Him talking to Naruto like that. And he didn't want Kakashi interrupting:) Another great one Space Queen ^_^

That was nice. I like seeing the dynamics between everyone in Iruka and Naruto's absence. Not to say that I don't miss them but it's different. Sasuke is learning that he is strong and that he can make the tough decisions if he needs to on his own. I can't wait to see him with the kits. I always felt that the parenting between the two of them was lopsided with Naruto bearing most of the weight and most of the work in a way. I understood that Sasuke was a busy father but it will be good for him to be even closer to the kits than he was before. I know that Shikamaru dislikes Sumiko or thinks he does but I hope that in spending time with her that will change. His Mom was a bit of a pill but Su-chan is also his father's daughter so hopefully that will come through as well.

I love your work, and eagerly look forward to each update as a highlight of my week. Each character is indelible and even when the stories at their darkest points, there are heros to admire and through their actions and struggles a sense of hope that carries over into real life. Udon is wonderful, and it is a delight to see the possibility with Moegi. Now with so much tragedy and the characters who reliably brought light and warmth out of commission, it is particularly fascinating to see how the characters respond. It is painful but realistic that guilt-ridden Sasuke and Kakashi should so completely misunderstand each other (even as Kakashi holds back as he willingly sacrifices (and vents himself a bit) himself to Sasuke's need. I can't help but think of the unresolved anger Kakashi expressed to Neji earlier. With all of the care given to Sasuke's return to his former home, (and to Itachi's healing) it's hard to believe that Kakashi could easily return to the place where he was so seriously abused without reaction (although easy to believe in his ability to hide it). Sold to the Uchiha, abused, but still finding pride and meaning in his responsibility, finding and then losing a great love, remaining loyal to prepare and train Sasuke when denied permission to take his own life, Kakashi could still find honor in his role. Kakashi is then stripped of his proud symbol of being one of the Uchiha, and now must see his first lover's evidence of their love worn by another (the repurposing was necessary, and perhaps best for Kakashi). With no clearly defined role in the household but trained and naturally inclined to be a strong, decisive leader (an alpha) while needing to be subordinate to Sasuke (but chastised for not fully using his capabilities), there must be stress. Seeing in these latest chapters how much Kakashi rightly fears the darker side of his training, his stress must be all the greater. It is easy to believe Kakashi cares for Ran, and wants to be part of that family, yet he seems at a remove from the two (before the explosions). I can't help but wonder what Ran would feel, and thus show others, when he finally touches Kakashi at a time other than a crisis -- would it be the love he truly feels for so many, guilt for not being able to prevent every tragedy and overly high expectations of himself, longing? I admit to picturing the possibilities of that moment. Thank you so mcuh for this very wonderful and inspiring story!
