That was so beautiful! The way you describe everything that goes on makes it so easy to picture it all in one's mind. Thank you for taking me along Neji's and Shikamaru's journey.

Alright. So when y!gal was going down for maintenance, I thought there's a chance it might be going down for good, and whose writing did I want to maybe save, in case it's not posted anywhere else. I thought of you. But lovely dear you are, you have your works in a few places. :) Which brought me here. And I finally took the time to read Undercurrents and..... love! I cannot gush enough about this. It's length is something I adore, I never once got bored, and I adored the relationship between Shika and Neji. Since I've now read your NaruSasu works and this, I can say I love your characterization. Really. I feel like you do a very good job at making the characters feel real and individual, clearly separated from one another without being extreme. It just makes the believability of the whole world, which, as a reader, is one of my top priorities. Like I mentioned, I cannot say enough praise. I find NejiShika so easy and right, and comforting. Like, yeah, there's definitely shit sometimes, and there's a world of pain in the past for Shika, but this is clearly just so right. The scene with Kakashi, Neji, and Sasuke confronting Kabuto was ...(I need better words than just a bunch of positive descriptions). It was hard. But it was written so clearly, I could picture it all very easily. Actually, a lot of your writing was that way. Neji's dungeon. Shika smoking outside. The living room and kitchen at Neji's. Just guhhh, I have so many images in my head, and I sometimes have difficulty with that. So thank you, thank you, thank you, for such clear and talented writing. And I don't know yet if you have anything written (I know there are a couple sidefics), but I'd love to see these two a couple years from now. When I reread Salvation, and Sasuke mentioned the difficulties that come in a relationship with time, I though, yeah, I'd love to see Neji and Shika a few years down the road. Also, something about Sasuke saying that made me think he recognized that 1) Neji and Shika will be together for years, 2) they will have difficulty but 3) they have a (so so so much) healthier relationship and oh Sasuke, baby, I love you, but you're so difficult. Uggu. It's writing like yours that takes my love of these characters and increases is tenfold. Okay, I seriously don't know if any of this made sense, and I know I've been rambling, I apologize. ;A; But thank you for writing and sharing! :D

The ending was so beautiful and so touching I loved it every word every action. But what they did before omg the wax uh is now my favorite thing ever, it was masterfully written. Reading this was a mix of emtions and likes and dislikes but I overall loved it and really enjoyed the venture. You're a good writer I hope someday you do more Shika/Neji in a different environment. You rock you're story rocks thank you.

    Where do I begin?

Honestly, I have been sitting on this review for a long time because I didn't know what to focus on for the past few chapters, but then it finally came to me. And believe me, of all the characterization, plot, and prose to focus on, this surprised the hell out of me. But after reading over chapter 21 a few times, I realized the significance of this one little line in the grand scheme of things. Hmmm, and what is this one little line...

"Fuck that shit, Master! Please, please- No, Master!"

Of all the lines, why does this line jump out at me and place everything into perspective - at least for me. Throughout this fic, Shika has fought with himself and this night, he is finally releasing his control to his Master. He is giving in, which by the way these past few chapters are artfully and beautifully set up with Shika's voice as the back drop or "narration" running the plot. (Reminiscent of the radio show in R&B or should I say R&B is reminiscent of this since this was written first). Anyway, this line seems so out of character for Shika and it seems that the "fight" is at it's climax in that line. He is saying "no" and "yes" in the same line and to his "Master". He could easily stop the scene by saying his safe word.

And the lines that follow - how beautiful, and the fact that Shika remained hard throughout the entire scene. And the innocence and surprise at his own reactions? I was near weeping by the end of the chapter at the intensity of it all. I've previously commented on Neji's humannes, but I think that this line and the actions that follow show Shika's humaness more than any chapters that precede it. Shika is so much more than a wounded genius who needs to get over his past. He is so utterly in love with Neji and it shows through his trust! He is blindfolded and strapped to a table left to "feel" and at the mercy of another man. For once, he is not thinking. He is simply FEELING. And that is why, though vulgar, I find his words both powerful and brutally beautiful!

Shikamaru is simply stunning in his submission!

You have successfully given the reader Shikamaru through Neji's eyes, and I can see why Neji loves him so unconditionally, possessively, violently, and sublimely.

The candle wax was a great touch. You did spectacularly as usual. I can't wait to read Shika's punishment.
