Reviews for Variety Pack

I'm absolutely floored by this collection...they're all so good I'm having a really hard time deciding on a favorite. But the ShinoSaku is by far the best Shino fic I've read. And even though the KibaSaku cliche would have been a cliche in an Inuyasha fic, it was a fun twist here because it hasn't been hacked to death with a meat tenderizer.

I've been skipping around different fandoms for ages; Naruto has the most possibilities for good pairings, but few people are taking advantage of that. If I had any talent at writing fiction, I'd dive in, but my writing skills end at term papers. Rarepairs are great; I love how you get to explore the characters more in depth, but the best part is that I can believe that any of these actually happened in the Naruto storyline (minus AUs, obviously) because they fit the characters' personalities so well. I've found myself wanting to know what happens next for almost all of them.

It's also refreshing to see het pairings. I've read my fair share of yaoi, but it's very hard to make those fics different from all the others. Sometimes it's interesting to explore those pairings, but sometimes they become ubiquitous and therefore, completely unbelievable. There almost needs to be an upper limit to the number of fics per pairing.

It never ceases to amaze me how polarized feelings are about Sasuke. I think he comes across as an ass because he's, well, emotionally bankrupt. He's so focused on revenge and it's hard for him to trust anyone, and he's got huge reserves of anger that have pushed out any other feelings he may have had, so he doesn't know how to react any other way. So I don't excuse his behavior, but I kind of understand why he does what he does. As for Itachi, you're right; we don't really have anything to indicate what goes on inside that head. Which is why I haven't yet found a believable fic of any pairing with him.

Can you make another GaaSaku? Those are the best ones of them all!

NejiSaku was HOT!!! I will never look at Neji the same way again. Yum.

I liked your take on Kaka/Saku also. I'm firmly in the camp that believes a relationship between the two requires about ten years added on to their ages and some sort of resolution to Sasu/Saku. As someone trying to write a Kaka/Saku fic, any insights on the pairing are useful, so thanks for providing some pointers on what fans want in your A/N.

    XOXO

I just recently got into the SasoSaku pairing and you're giftfic just cemented my adoration of this couple. I have to admit, I was initially dubious of your summary; by eliminating some of the more unusual and taboo of Sasori's characteristics and by making it into an AU I was afraid the aspects that I enjoy the most might have been left out. However you managed to maintain a truly creeping and disturbed atmosphere despite the more neutral context that Sakura and Sasori were placed in. And they were in character. Bravo!

And you're right it's hard to extrapolate how Itachi's character will react outside of the scenes we've seen him in. It's a little easier with Sasuke, because we have all that nice backstory from Sasuke's flashbacks, but otherwise he doesn't really give fanficcers that much to work with. We can only hope Itachi'll show up more, now that the plot's slowly swinging back to Sasuke.

I must admit, I skipped most of your stories and went straight to the SasoSaku. So you need not take this review too seriously.

HOLY CRAP. This has got to be the best damn fanfiction (or collection of one-shots) I have EVER read. My favorites were the SasuSaku (because that whole AU theme was goddamn sexy), GaaSaku- which I can't ever stop loving you for, and that SASORIxSAKURA. I admit, I was a bit hesitant on clicking on that chapter, but I am now glad I did. The Alternative Universe with him being an "artist" of an inner self that can be portrayed through such an ugly creation, was the most intriguing aspect of that particular one-shot. I also like how his relationship with Sakura developed. Unbelievably creepy, yet realistic and sexy all the same.

    KUDOS BECAUSE YOU DESERVE THEM.

: D If you're still writing, it would be nice to see more SasuSaku (because there just isn't enough love for them- ANYWHERE) and GaaSaku (xD Because you make them look sogoodtogether).

I never really thought I'd see someone write this pairing. Then you did. I and I rejoiced. AND DEIDARA! OMG I was rolling in my seat in fits of laughter. I LOVE Deidara and the way you portrayed him just had me in fits.

A very eerie but very well written lemon. I loved it! And congrats on 20,000 hits!

Unholy Hell, that was cool. ^_^ I laughed at the end when Sakura started singing Pinocchio's song. Very wicked. I really enjoyed reading the whole Variety Pack!

I love it so much, Sasori was so pretty, and...and... *glee* Anymew! The interpretations of Sasori and Deidara's personalities were really nicely handled. Deidara's delightfully annoying, and Sasori makes creepy sexy. I think I connected best with this last chapter because I'm an artist, and I know what it's like to become really involved with your own work. Or something like that. Do I make sense? Probably not, but it's past my sleepytime....

Sad note: Nyuuuu, I'm fast running out of fics that she can read. 's like all the awesome authors are leaving the fandom and leaving just the badfic authors behind. *sigh* That would be neat if I could write that well. I still owe you lots of doodles, too. *clings to pants leg*

Awww...I'm really sad this was the last one. I LOVE the Variety Pack. It is, by far, my favorite of all stories on affnet.
